Not enough face palms for how stupid this plan is. The internet does not work like this. Expect nothing to happen except for an excuse to pop up as to why it didn't happen.

Why hasn't somebody shut up these whiny idiots yet? I'm so sick of their thinly veiled childish rampages that will never, ever, ever, accomplish anything, other than undermining the efforts of real protests and real protesters everywhere.

Without even reading the entire article, I'm just gonna say this: If Anonymous was going to do something, they would've just done it.

How many times in just the past few months has "Anonymous" threatened to do something? Now how many of the threats actually happened? NOW, how many incidents have occured where something happened, followed by "Anonymous" saying that they did it? Seems like a heavily unbalanced scale to me.

Since this is merely a threat (and one day before April Fools' Day), I'll be watching the Runaway Guys play on Space Land in Mario Party 2 while idiots who believe this threat are worrying that their Internet will go down.

The most hilarious part about this is that the people it will affect the most aren't even the people they claim to be mad at. For being such savvy tech gurus, they don't really seem to think these things through.

And the people of Anonymous shoot themselves in the foot AGAIN, because quite frankly this doesn't spread a message; quite the opposite - it stems the flow of information, and people will not know what the fuss is about unless the news tells them.

EVERYTHING WE DO MAKES OUR POTENTIAL SUPPORTERS HATE US!

WHAT DO WE DO?

DO IT SOME MORE! MAYBE THEY'LL CHANGE THEIR MINDS!!!

In theory it could work.

If one assumes that all those horrible world leaders can't access their porn, then that'll get their attention.

OH GOD, I won't be able to access my porn either! Hmm, quite the double edged sword.

If anyone can do it Anon can. However I question the fact that they'll essentially be attacking our freedom, even if it is for a good cause.

As long as it's just the DNS servers, we'll still be able to use online gaming services. Steam, PSN, XBL, etc would still work.
Kind of annoying but the Internet, along with my life has been distracting me from gaming for a while now.
I don't like them or what they are doing but I am curious to see how people would react to this scenario.

What is this I don't even...

They are going to shut down the entire internet? Is that even possible?
Yes, it's completely possible. The technical explanation they have posted on the pastebin is theoretically sound. I'd be surprised if it succeeds with all of those servers, seeing as most of them should be rather well protected from just this kind of thing, but without sufficient security, it will definitely work.

That said, it's really, really easy to circumvent if you're at all technical. All you have to do is mirror a DNS server and run it locally before Saturday and you'll be fine. You can grab all the data from any of those DNS servers linked in the pastebin right now, copy it into your own server, and you won't even notice if it actually works.

If there were only 13 DNS servers in the entire world, that might actually work, but there aren't. Pretty much every ISP runs it's own DNS server, so FAIL!

Hell if shutting down the internet for a few days actually stopped bs like SOPA I'd be in full support of such an action. Don't think it will though, money hungry idiots will always be money hungry idiots and I doubt even if the entire internet was down for a week would they change their stubborn ways.

Hello Roller Coaster Tycoon!
Doesn't that require a Steam connection?

Captcha: The all-new Chevy Sonic

Apparently the captcha won't accept "The all-new Chevy Shitbox". I think mods need to fix this.
That's about the only Captcha I ever get and one little spelling error means I have to re-enter it. It may help prevent spambots, but when it's the only Captcha you get it gets annoying extremely fast. I hope the mods fix it too.

Honestly, anyone who is taking this seriously should be ashamed of themselves. And did no one tell these idiots the story of "the boy who cried wolf?" The more they do this the more no one cares and the more any news associated with the the Anonymous group just becomes a big joke.
