OK. My PS3 has just died, again. This is now my 5th PS3 to die.

I've had 4 60GB models, and 1 80GB model (recently deceased).

In order I've had, Yellow light, Graphical card error, Yellow light, Yellow light and now my PS3 turns itself off after 10 mins of use and the light flashes red.

I've gotta ask, what the fuck is going on? They don't see much use, are in a well ventilated area and get cleaned regularly.

Now, When my original 60GB died, I paid £128 for a refurbished 60GB. All of the changes have been free since then but this is becoming a chore.

Anyone else got Xbox Syndrome with their PS3s?

Mine has been working without problems for almost three years now (very intensive use, I might add). What have you been doing with yours?

I hope I don't get issues. Some of my datas can't be backed up via Copy. Like my 60 hour Dragon Age 1 data.

It sucks, though.

I went through 3 Xboxes and I'm on my 4th. It's seems to be going well, finally.

sounds like you should go for the models that dont have issues... I've had an 80gb with 0 issues from when I got it two years ago... get a slim?

It's just bad luck dude. Buy the Slim PS3. They're the latest and most reliable.

Next to nothing, it rarely gets played =/ . When I do it's never for long. It's just bizarre.

My PS3 recently died on me after 4 years of faithful service. I'm not sure what to do yet, I'm strongly considering having someone repair it, I know there is a repair shop that specializes in PS3s not far from where I live. I don't really feel like buying a new one, both because it's more expensive and because I really like my old fat PS3, seeing as I use it for PS2 games as well as PS3 games. No matter what I do, it still sucks, I've had a lot of fun with it :/

But damn, sounds even worse for you, having 5 ones die on you. That sounds really unlucky, haven't really heard of a similar case, to be honest.

Man these April fool's jokes suck.

I've had mine for years and never had any problems with it. Did you dust it regularly?

Murphy's law I guess. You're the only one I've heard with that much trouble. Come to think of it, only onr friend of mine had his break down once, and it was replaced. Mine never gave me trouble, while I'm not the most gentle with it, it's in a confined space and I've opened it a couple times. Ow yeah I've had it for nearly 5 years.

Not to rub it in, it's just in my experience they're pretty robust, and I usually don't do long with any electric appliances.

Hey man, it happens. You're one of the people who's had the misfortune of getting one of the few bum units every time. Uncommon, but it happens. I've heard stories of people going through 5 or 6 PS3s before. I'm on my second, personally (my 60GB started running even hotter than usual with even more fan noise, so I went and got a slim so I could do the Data Transfer Utility).

Yeah, I absolutely hate that. The only way to copy the saves that have that stupid copy protection on them is by data transfer (or now I guess you can pay $50 a year for PS+ and use that cloud thing they added, but nobody should have to pay just to keep their saves from being eaten). Even a back-up doesn't work if you have to restore it to a different console. I really have to wonder what Sony was thinking when they put that feature in their system, because it doesn't do anything but make people lose save files in the event of hardware failure.

I would, but that'd cost me £200.

I bought my original PS3 for nearly £400 on it's release, have paid £128 for replacements and bought god knows how many games.

Sony have had enough of my money. I've lost less to casinos.

I have a launch PS3 that I feel may be on its way out soon (makes sense since I got it used and is now over 4 years old).
Might buy a slim once I figure out how to transfer my saved games over (no idea why some game saves are locked).

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say there may be a slight time difference between the U.S. and the U.K.

I dont know how true it is but I heard that if you buy refurbished, supposedly its more likely to fail, cause people dont know how to refurbish them right I guess or something.

I dontk now, I've had mine now for... 1 year I think? Its (well, was) one of the 400GBs with the Uncharted game with it. Ad while I've been at the univeristy I'm attending and havnt played it much unless I'm home (since thats where it is) I havent had any problems.

My first PS3 tried to burn down my living room. It failed at even that.

Kidding, don't smother me in fanboy rage. It did release the magic blue smoke and start burning. Haven't had a bit of problem with my second, yet.
