You really can't go wrong with Top Gear UK. But they do other stuff as well, its fun tracking all the madness down.

I'mma jump on aboard and say My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Never underestimate the genius that is Lauren Faust, Craig McCracken's wife.

Sci-fi/Anime? To Aru Majutsu no Index is a -great- series.

Further recommendations: Ghost Hound. Yes, the neuropsychology in the series is hokey. That's at least partially the point. Also yes, the ending is a massive letdown. Still, it's worth it for everything between the first episode and the last. A very tense, interesting show.

Serial Experiments Lain: Sci-fi with horror elements. Slightly incomprehensible, but overall a good show.

I used to watch that when I was younger. I enjoyed it but it couldn't keep my attention for very long for some reason. It's the same now at this age because I have tried to go back to it a few times.
*Assuming you mean GITS*

You could try the movie from '95 (subtitled, the dub track was good for its time, but by modern standards it's just awful). The film is probably slower, but Oshii is an amazing director, so it all works out.

That's how I got into the series, although it may have just been something that appealed to my tastes, since I ended up watching the entire first season in a day or two.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
To Aru Majutsu no Index is pretty awesome for comedy and sci-fi
Fate/Stay Night is interesting
Angel Beats is great but its only 13 episodes
Chaos;Head is a nice murder mystery sci/fi type
D Gray Man is an amazing series with something like 103 episodes
Ayakashi is a good one too
Full Metal Panic is also a good series

Not all of these are sci-fi but you would probably like them

Well I'm seeing a lot of suggestions for series' I've watched in the past so I'll just post those to get that out of the way.
Scrubs
House
The Wire
Angel
Buffy
M*A*S*H
The Office (UK&US)
Top Gear
Mythbusters
Pawn Stars
Full Metal Alchemist
Bleach
Fringe
Naruto

One that I have taken a break from that I need to get back into is Breaking Bad which I would suggest to anyone. Completely forgot about that.

Seriously. I only have one show to recommend to you and that's Community. It's a comedy about a group of students at a community college.
There has never been anything as hilarious and perfectly written as this show. Even if you don't like comedies, this is the one that'll make you turn.
Give it a try. At least five episodes. You'll be glad for it.

Community.

Alright cool. Will do. I'm always a big fan of comedies so I'm sure I will enjoy it.

Sons of Anarchy, Mad Men, The Walking Dead, any show AMC makes. They got a new show coming out called the Killing or something. AMC does shows right, they make it like your watching a movie every episode.
YES! Brekaing Bad and The Walking Dead are awesome shows.

Also, try Castle and Burn Notice. Not anime or Sci-Fi, but excellent shows.

Anime: Lucky Star, Excel Saga, Inukami, Zero no Tsukaima (Not Season 2 or 3, THOSE DO NOT EXIST), and Hayate no Gotoku.
Scifi: Doctor Who (because you never really need anything else)
Scifi Anime: Gundam (all of them, you really cant go wrong)
