You don't get to complain about ponies on the Escapist. I'm sorry, but people have been making Threads complaining about ponies [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.104502-Pony-Jam-background] since 2009.

Ponies were an Escapist joke since before I joined, ffs.
Here are just a few of the many threads that came much before conventional bronies:

Some official threads:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.164677-My-Little-Escapist-Pony?page=1
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/90712-Your-Chance-to-Win-the-Coveted-Pony-Badge
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.177083-Primp-Our-Pony-Winner-Announced

And a few of the many pony jam threads made by users:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.117477-The-Official-Pony-Jam-T-shirt-picture-movie-posting-topic
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.104467-Pony-Jam-is-a-SCAM
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.104898-Pony-Jam-09
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.104439-PONY-JAM?page=1
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.104665-The-Dark-Secrets-Behind-Pony-Jam
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.104733-I-miss-pony-jam-already?page=1

And that's just what I can find these days, with the search term of "ponies" being saturated with actual brony things. Give me an hour, and I could find a dozen more at least. A few pony threads from before I joined seem to have simply vanished without a trace, though... (A lot of threads from '07/08 seem to have poofed, actually >.>)

Seriously, people. Complaining about adults liking ponies on the Escapist is old. Older than anywhere else on the internet. Get the fuck over it and let us enjoy a running gag that's been going on for half a decade now.

I'd actually like to thank the OP. Not the place for this sort of thread because the amass of Ponies here are tolerable... But other places, Hoooooly fuck...

Because this does need to be said. Why? Because vocal Furries (Bronies, your a subcatagory. Deal.) Have this ungodly need to shove whatever it is they like about the "fandom" in other's faces. This goes for 34 spray in the Source Engine, and the retarded Pony-Lingo "Everypony having a good day? Got my hooves/footpaws wet because it's raining out."

Escapist isn't a bad spot for it, but do you really wonder why you get abused when you act like that? Why people make fun of you over it? I would expect the same treatment if I posted pictures of scantily clad Heavies, and Pyros from TF2 and answered all my posts with the TF2 [http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/e/ea/Scout_goodjob02.wav] wiki [http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/9/95/Soldier_thanksfortheheal02.wav].

And for the record, seeing the stuff doesn't kill my day. The show, It's alright, just like the OP, I like to look into other things in stories. It's the people behind them that bother me the most. Because you just know, it's the 80% of them that's vocal, and a little deranged.

Usually when I see people complain about MLP being "shoved in their face" it's usually on something very minor in a video or whatever that bronies comment about and thus the flame war commences. A good example of this is the past episode of Two Best Friends fun time Adventure where the animator, who is a brony, likes to sneak in slight references to the show in the background which bronies will point out and then people will complain about it being pushed down their throats.

Classic brony move, some guy complains about MLP and they just have to post exactly that.
Have a thread no discussion value? Derail it with meme gifs. Such is the way of the escapist.

The fans can still get a bit grating on occasion though, and some of the stuff makes me go 'what the fuck?' (i.e. the 'Ponies changed my life' stories get a bit... hard to believe after awhile. Also the Pony confessions tumblr. OH GOD. Well, ponies on Tumblr in general, but still), but when I start rolling my eyes when bronies appear I figure it's good time to step away from the pony sites for a little bit and get some space.
I was sitting infront of a train track and was waiting for my friend to come online on Steam so I could say... goodbye... before I jumped infront of the next train to pass.

To pass the time I actually came here onto the escapist and entered a mlp thread... because why the fuck not, I'm going to die soon may as well see what the fucking shitstorms are actually about.

Anyway I watched an episode that somebody posted, Dragonshy and... then watched the first one... and the one after that... and more and then walked home and didn't tell my best friend for a few months about the whole thing. He knew I was feeling suicidal but not "I've stood infront of a train track" level.

The show hasn't affected how I live... other than I'm alive. I tend to avoid fan fiction, art, music less so and also... rule 34... avoid in general... I'm not one of the fanatic fans by a bloody mile but it did... possibly save my life ¬.¬
Delayed me into getting councilling (not working well, tried everything now other than drugs... getting to the point where I'll just say fuck and swallow 'em...)

O.T. well this at least isn't about all the fans being a bunch of man-children right?

It seems to me that a lot of this could be avoided by not looking for it. I honestly don't know how you end up in a situation where my little pony porn and erotic stories are shoved in your face. Unless of course the fact that these things exist at all are enough to make you feel sick, in that case, I'm afraid you'll just need to learn to live in a world filled with things you don't like.

Aye captcha, a shitstorm's brewin'
I already understand that, the problem is that you can come across this stuff without looking for it, it's just disturbing since the bronie culture claims to like the show due to it's good messages and good design and as it turns out you have some really creepy fans. Besides, this can also be a thread about obnoxious/weird fans in other IP's that get on your nerves.
Well, there are always going to be fans who like the creepier side of something no matter where you look. I mean, if you come across the stuff, just don't look at it. It takes conscious thought to read a fanfiction, and you can always just keep scrolling past any 34. Yes, I understand your point. I get that it's annoying, but it doesn't warrant a whole thread about how much you hate something that cannot be changed.

I'm more sick of jackasses giving the whole fanbase more attention than it deserves. If strange, emotionally repressed people want to jerk off to pony-human hybrid porn, WHO GIVES A SHIT. They can do whatever the fuck they want. They can have their memes and endless flow of jpegs. What really bothers me is people constantly bringing up this god damn topic of "Oh gee willikers, those bronies sure are doofuses, right you guys?" and inciting ANOTHER FUCKING BATTLEGROUND for people to ***** and moan about what is socially acceptable and how "Nah duudee, not all bronies are the saaamee, maaaaannn".

If you really want these people to stop getting in your face, then go look in the mirror and take notes, because you need to consider your own damned criticism.

And you know what, I'm calling it right now, I'm going to get a shitload of flak for this post, because people are going to skim right through it and regard it as nothing but "That crystalsnow guy whining again", but I'm putting it up anyway, because for the people who DO read this through, and DO pay attention to what I'm saying, then listen to what I'm about to tell you.

Stop making these fucking threads. Stop bitching about every little nuance you come across on the internet. Stop giving attention to a group of people who deserve little more than an sidelong glance. Stop forming "sides" in arguments that serve no purpose and will never end. And for the love of god STOP SEARCHING FOR SHIT YOU DIDN'T WANT TO SEARCH FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE. This may come as a shock to some of you intellectual wizards, but the internet works in such a way that you actually get to search for stuff you're interested in, RATHER THAN STUFF THAT PISSES YOU OFF.

The internet is young. A lot of you people probably think that crap like this whole MLP situation is a rare occurrence and probably won't happen very often in the future. You're wrong. This shit is all over the place already, and its only going to get worse. And at some point you have to realize that, and just.deal.with.it.

Ninja edit: For any of the wiseasses out there who DO happen to skim through this without reading for comprehension, just know that I will only be responding to those with insightful commentary on what I've had to say.
Oh, crystalsnow, stop whining...:p

For the most part, I agree with you, and I'm a "brony" (gasp, shock!) I don't quite understand why people who hate it so much need to constantly comment on it...

Actually, I take that back. I'm sure one reason (on the escapist, at least) is that pony threads tend to garner lots of comments (which we're contributing to now, dang it!). I myself have gotten tired of all the controversy. I've been a fan for a year and a half, and that's all I am: a fan of a cartoon show. Just like I'm a fan of a lot of different things. In my time as a (ugh) brony, I haven't once, online or off, tried to force the show on someone. It's just not that big of a deal. I can't wait for people to just give it a rest. It's a show. If you don't like it, then just ignore it. It's not that hard.

So, in general, I agree with you, though I think you could of gotten your point across with a little less rage.

Five points to Diamond Jim Brady who wants to know if we accept a discover card. I would rather accept a jar of pennys whos value was less than that of your bill, I would rather take two live chickens than your fly-by-night credit card...

-On topic as somone who has no feelings about MLP atall (had to google it to see what it was) it does rather sound like theres some fault on both sides here.

The only thing that bothers me about bronies is them replacing body with pony, as in "everypony".
With everything else I'm okay, with the gifs, the brohoofing, the fanfiction and even the porn, since, you know, I don't have to look for it.

You kiddin me, I'm implied to be insecure about my femininity because I not only don't get a show aimed at five year olds, but one I already didn't like when I WAS in it's target demographic back in the 80s.
Common misconception.
It's not the same show it was in the 80s.

In fact the only similarity between the two is the characters are ponies. Everything else has been been completely reworked and modernized.
Are you trying to use logic on these guy. You know better than that Topaz.

I know the feeling, OP. Even if you repeatedly tell them you are not interested in their little girls' show, they still feel the need to shove it down your throat every fucking chance they get.

I swear, I just want to punch them in the throat. :/

These things never just die, do they? Threads where bronies and non-bronies alike come together to complain about how overexposed they are to cartoon ponies, and they're invariably the most commented-upon threads on The Escapist. Not that I consider this a bad thing, I find these kinds of threads funny in their absurdity.

Anyway, OT: No, on the internet I only view the things I want to. If I end up on a page I don't like, or someone from some fandom is annoying me, I click a link and go somewhere else. It's one of the many beautiful things possible in this virtual world. The only way obnoxious fans could successfully shove anything into my face would be in the real world, but that's never really happened to me.

As for My Little Pony specifically, hell no. It's been far too long since there were new episodes, and I can't wait for season 3 to roll around. If you're bothered by the cartoon ponies now, I pity you. It's probably going to get much worse pretty soon...

That's just it, I wasn't looking for it.
HOW!?!

I -am- a fan and I don't come across the cross-over fiction or porn or any of that.

That's the part that boggles my mind... the only way I can see you coming across creepy porn about MLP or such things is if you happen to find find MLP amongst the OTHER creepy porn that you ARE looking for.

I mean, if you're on a website that has creepy fuckers being creepy... and some of them decide to be creepy about a cartoon show... then the fault isn't the cartoon show, is it?

Seriously, I do not get this. Explain the means by which one accidentally stumbles on creepy cartoon porn like that. I mean, if you're not looking for the cartoon, how is this coming up?

Honestly, if there were less "Is anyone else sick of MLP" threads out there, my MLP exposure would probably be halved.

For me, the point of realization that the degradation of the MLP had become quite extensive was while playing on a tf2 surf server. A 10 year-old child (he confirmed with us that this was his age) and promptly began asking if anyone was a brony and then stating "don't hate on me being a brony because I'm cooler then you and you are just angry trolls" (exact quote). He repeated this about 6 times, along with the usual item begging that can be expected from the age group.
It was at this moment that I realized what aggravated me so much when it came to bronies. their incessant need to defend themselves against NOONE.

I'm no brony, I've only watched one ep and it isn't for me, but I find some of the jokes and images funny as heck.

Just get over it OP, it's like anything. I dislike Twilight, and yet for a while it was EVERYWHERE!

You don't make a thread about it, or disliking it if you want to avoid it, because then people will come and show you what you don't want to see.

Boudica said:
I wasn't aware it was still around on the forums until this thread. So there you go.
I think OP is just getting annoyed at things like peoples avatars etc being ponies or something in places where some think they shouldn't belong. Must be pony-phobic or something?

Also, off topic, but are you a GL fan? That username suggests to me you may be. Edit: Never mind, I thought it was the GL character, but I quickly googled it because it didn't seem to be spelled the way I remember, it's queen Boudica.

I have absolutely no feelings towards the show, but when I see a supposedly heterosexual male identify himself as a Brony, I do think less of him

EVERY fanbase has the creepy side to it. Sonic the Hedgehog, Pokemon, MLP, and various others if you know where to look.

Hell most fans of each fanbase has probably dabbled with some of the abnormal stuff from their fanbase and probably enjoyed it at sometime or another. Plus there is often nothing wrong with a person liking the stuff on a regular basis as well.
[sub]This coming from a fan MLP and Pokemon including their R34 fandoms... I am not afraid to admit but I don't push it on anybody.[/sub]

And on the topic of Cross fiction: I find nothing wrong with crossing 2 series that have different tones. Anybody know of Fallout Equestria? That is right. Fallout and MLP. Both extremely different. And guess what? They work surprisingly well together. I have found it is not so much the crossing of the two IPs in a fanfic as it is how that fanfic is written/presented/read.

Though I will agree that the darker sides of the fandoms have been leaking out into the cleaner sides more often as of late. MLP being the biggest offender here. But I just blame the internet general for that. What with all the reasons the stuff is made and posted.

Anyways I should get out of here before I say anything that pisses someone off if I have not already.

So with that Bye bye

Reading some of the responses in this thread made me lol, so I spose it wasn't a complete waste of time.
That being said, if you dislike /insert anything here/ then you should only rant about your dislike of it if it hasn't been done a trillion times before. Or you could just do what most other people do, keep your mouth shut and grumble quietly.

I mean, I try to keep my disgust about what some people consider good animation to myself, even when fans of said animation are considered to be the normal kind of fan that non-fans think of when thinking about the greater community as a whole... Man, do I ever hate Naruto >=/

Edit: I suppose I should say something constructive to the OP... Hmm... Your complaints are not uncommon, in fact they are too common (especially on these threads) that the first 10 responses are almost guaranteed to be "oh great, this shit again...". I recommend doing a forum search of any of these kinds of threads (use the tag: MLP or Pony) and look for the really old ones back when people weren't immediately sickened by the thread subject matter, and were more likely to converse about the subject. That, or you can try to keep this one going /shrug
