It's still coming out on the Xbox 360, right? I haven't seen it listed anywhere. I skipped Skyrim because Oblivion disappointed me greatly and I prefer Fallout anyway.

For those who played it already, do you think that kind of game will work fine on the console? I haven't watched much gameplay yet (trying to resist the temptation), but I'd like to know how you feel about it.

Played it on the PC, it'll work fine on the console. It might have been a PC exclusive, but I couldn't shake the feeling that the people who were designing the interface and controls were given instructions to make it workable on the consoles as well. So I wouldn't worry too much about the controls.

As for the game itself, I liked the first Witcher's plot better, but this one isn't bad, it just ends abruptly and you're left wondering "Wait, that's it?". It's not a bad ending, just a "meh" one. Gameplay is fun, building your character is cool, game looks nice. The only thing I "disliked" about it is that my PC was just barely strong enough to run it so I had to endure barely passable framerates. Beyond that, good game, I can reccomend it when for the 360 crowd when it comes out.

Well, that's interesting. Would you say that they changed things around from the first game?

They changed a lot. Combat no longer has the rythm timing stuff, but it's not really easier. Just more action oriented. You need to roll/dodge. Skills are much simplified, no more having a silver AND regular sword tree, each with branches for the 3 stances. Still has choices and such, though.

There's also nowhere near as much sex. Not that that is exactly a negative to the game, but it's definitely nowhere near how the first one played out in that regard. For the most part you only get Triss, and a couple places have whores you can sleep with.

Story wise it's a lot more linear as far as having area 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. But at the same time, almost every step of the way offers you one or two different choices for how to finish the mission, which can drastically change your story.

I think you'll enjoy it. The combat is great when using the XBox controller, and it's actually challenging. And since people have been complaining about the difficulty curve, the devs have patched it out, so that shouldn't be an issue. And while it's not quite sandbox like the TES games, it's narrative is much better than the hoards of RPGs out there, though it does suffer from an abrupt ending. But most importantly, your choices actually have consequences, and the game literally splits up in the middle of the story. I've yet to see a AAA RPG that has such drastic consequences.

I would suggest XBox gamers try out the demo to see if the combat (which was the most polarizing subject) is to their liking, and not overlook it because it came late. Hey, the Double Fine games, Alan Wake and EDF are coming to the PC late as well, but I'm all over 'em. ;)

Yeah, combat would definitely work well on a controller - there's a definite school of thought that even on PC it's best played with a controller. No idea how a console will handle teh graffix, but the actual gameplay would work great on a console, particularly since they've ironed out all the kinks since the PC release.

In terms of game quality, I'd describe it as "what Dragon Age: Origins was trying to be." And for the record, I really liked DA:O.

Quite a bit. Combat is different, the whole interface is different, the inventory is different. About the only thing that stayed is the 3rd person perspective as far as the controls go...

Should work pretty well on the XBox. I actually would have preferred a controller on the PC.

I almost bought that, but it looked too hack'n slashy for my tastes.

You guys are giving me great hope so far! :)

It will work fine on console, the controls are done in such as way that they wouldn?t even need to make many changes to it and it already uses a radial menu to switch magic and items on the fly. Infact it might even work better on a controller. They were always planning to port it so I think the interface was done with that in mind.
CDproject is having problems with their publisher so the 360 version has been delayed but I think they said quarter one next year so it?s not that far off.

Its a game with the difficulty of a hardcore PC title and the mechanics of a console game. Best way I can describe it really.

But yes, it will work fine with a controller. Just as well as it does with a mouse and keyboard, if not better. I just wonder how they are going to do the graphics. The xbox version is going to have to be a MAJOR step down from the PC version in terms of that.
I just watched the GB Quick Look (82 minutes!!!), I can't wait to play it!

I hope they don't "adapt" it too much, though.

Yes, I'm definitely waiting for it. If I had a PC that could do the PC version justice, I'd have played it already.. but I'd still be interested in the console version seeing as how it's not just supposed to be a direct port but sort of an alternate version. Seems like the kinda thing I'd be excited to have more of, to be honest.

I have it for pc. I liked it, that said I didn't beat it. It's a love-hate game like the first one was. You either love the characters/world or you hate them/it. The combat is pretty slick once you get used to it though.

Also, the game was definitely designed for a controller, so I imagine the 360 version will work fine. Traditional WRPG fans will probably enjoy it, JRPG fans might as well. New WRPG fans will probably not enjoy it as much however I say give it a go. Especially if it's on sale... I wish I would have waited for a sale.

already beat it on PC, with a resolution of 360 x 240 pixels. oh god, was that painful, and the end was disappointing.

I wasn't aware that it was going to be released on anything else than PC.
Well, the more you know. Thanks, OP! Have been slightly intrested in it for a while, but I don't play any games on the PC other than MMORPGs.

That description is making me really excited.
OP: I'm waiting for the port too. My crappy computer can't handle the game. And I had heard that the game already played well with a 360 controller.

It was made to work with a controller because that's what the PC version also supports. The ability to port the gameplay to the consoles easilly seems like an added bonus.
