Anyone feel that furry fandom seems to be snobbed at many multifandom conventions?

I mean yeah. It's sad but true. I don't have an issue with Furries, but they're a very fringe thing and something a lot of people don't understand. Particularly the pursuits. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's not exactly...mainstream lol.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think other fandoms like star wars, mlp:fim, anime and such have a dark side as well. I remember at one con i went to during a panel people were mentioning star trek slash fiction, hentai and such. I know that mlp:fim can be sexualised as well. There is a subset of bronies called cloppers.

I feel like this whole thread so far has been you saying "Furries aren't all sexual, we're just people, good and bad, etc. etc.," then other people come in and say "You might be right, but here's WHY people might find furries creepy" and then you come back with just more "we're just people, everybody has a dark side, not all furries..."

I mean, I get it. You feel unfairly ostracized. That won't be solved here, especially if you refuse to acknowledge that people in general are suspicious of certain things and things that remind them of certain things, even if they aren't actually related. No amount of posturing or finger pointing will change that.

Yeah,it seems when i say that any fandom can be sexualised,it seems to fall on deaf ears. I know what i say is true. I have seen sexy pictures of human/elven women in dungeons and dragons art. Two words: Chainmail Bikini

And now you've just proven my point. It's like we're having two different discussions here.

Isn't that the entire purpose behind wearing shirts with pictures on them? People look at me when I wear (Or wore, if I'm to be honest) my HL2 Dog shirt, or my variety of Woot shirts.

I don't think my relatives understand my interest in the fandom. I remember they took me to a furry con in 2014,but seems after that, they won't take me to any more. I have read about people who stumbled upon furs and found them nice.

Well, that might be because that's... well, slightly sexualised. She's wearing little other than a corset, boobs on display, and winking at the camera.

It doesn't seem to have a lot of cross over with mainstream fandoms. Anime and Japanese culture crosses over with cartoons, which crosses over with comics, which crosses over with sci fi. And I know I have a furry convention in my city, but what would even happen at a furry convention anyway if it isn't sex based? Sure costume and art panels I guess. But...there's no deeper look, no good dissection of the fandom. Ya like wolves that look sort of humanish. Yay. Discuss. There's not much there.

Okay, you know what? Stop necroing this topic. The last post was literally a month ago.

We get it.

You get off on hairy women.

Cut it out already.
It's not about hairy women. It's about anthro characters

Anata wa baka desu
"Anata wa baka desu"... lets see, that's "You're an idiot" in Japanese, yes? Clearly you made this account and came here in some misguided attempt to act as an ambassador or propagandist for furries, and I think it's clear that nobody ever asked you to be that. If your multiple slips into insulting people, and general inability to carry on a conversation is an indication, PR is the wrong line of endeavor for you.

At any rate, mods, surely we all deserve more than a furry who periodically shows up to necro his own thread and call people idiots in ways designed to evade moderation?
Wait, is that what desu means? Idiot?

So many things would make sense.

I wonder if people saw the videos i posted with Uncle Kage in them were he talks about the furry fandom and how it isn't a fetish.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPAARLt4iMo

Cause it seems people seem to be skipping the videos of him describing furry fandom. He is actually a doctor irl,a chemist,a member of the FDA and the chairperson of a furry con in pittsburgh.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm done with your schizophrenic switches between reposting the same videos (and this tone-deaf furry propaganda you're offering in general), and losing your cool and insulting people in languages other than English, posting nothing, etc... which frankly reeks of early teenage years or a general set of issues. Four pages shows that you won't have a real discussion with anyone, and the moment that something like that begins to happen you lash out and disappear, only to necro this thread as above. What you're doing is, in essence, openly and obviously rude, yet you're doing it in the hopes of PR!

If you're not Poeing, and actually care a whit about what you talk about, then just accept that you're not the right person for this job, at least, not right now. You need to work on your approach, and your "soft skills" as they say. I'm not saying this by way of insulting you, I'm just trying to be as direct and honest as I can be, because I don't think anything less is going to register with you.

You literally seem unable to accept that people have watched your links and not somehow "received wisdom" from them. Let me tell you, it's the nearly religious attitude that I personally find so annoying about Furries, Bronies, or whatever "-Ies". They all seem unable to distinguish between their personal experience with something, and the experiences of other people. In short, very self-centered people, although often with a medical/psychological reason.
I'm not a poe, i actually care.
