I'm had several evaluations during my high school years, results were inconclusive. (One positive, one negative, one... well... inconclusive)

I do not identify as being on the spectrum though.

I was diagnosed with it when I was 21. I probably would have got the diagnosis way earlier if my parents hadn't decided that getting diagnosed with something would make me stand out as a weirdo.

Turns out, a mental condition doesn't become unnoticeable just because you don't name it.

Something like it, apparently. The way it's classified on the autism spectrum apparently changed several years ago. I don't think it made life as difficult as my misanthropy did, though. That one tends to kick relationships in the pants.

Don't worry, OP. Dealing with human beings is a learning process that can take decades to get good at. Start with small, controlled doses and gently tone it up as confidence increases. Whenever it gets on top of you, politely excuse yourself to read a book or listen to some music. Sometimes it helps to have something you can manipulate in your hands, like a key-chain or some Blu-Tack, just to give you something else to focus on.

EDIT: Did you know it's pronounced "ass-burgers" in the States? That's pretty wild.

I was diagnosed around the age of the 12, though my parents had suspicions since I was a toddler. There are good sides and bad sides, I wouldn't trade it for anything though as it's part of who I am.

Never been diagnosed. But that list of attributes, man that's all too familiar. Maybe one day I'll use this health insurance I'm paying for against my will and go get tested :)

I can't say if it's the same for the others here, but music has a tremendous effect on me, especially tracks like this (ignore the gender-specific lyrics, just embrace the feels). Only one friend out of hundreds (over a lifetime) feels the same about music as I do.

It's an awkward video, but dat chorus! Music says a lot that I cannot. And while it has made things more enjoyable, things certainly haven't gotten any easier. Things don't get better necessarily, but you do get stronger. That's enough for me.

Yes, I was diagnosed when I was 4, back when no one knew what it was. Later on I was lucky enough to get involved with a few social groups for young adults with Asperger's and made a lot of friends there, so that was a nice bonus.

Yup. Diagnosed when I was in my late teens. It has some inherent challenges, but I'm pretty cool with it. Just don't use it as an excuse to be an asshole and be go the extra mile to be mindful of people's feelings and you'll be fine.

Yes, I know. The question is...what would you like to know? I'm not just a 'Yes, I'm autistic' placeholder, here. Many great sage wisdom exists within our man, Jack.

Yep, diagnosed by a doctor when I was around 12 or so. It's actually been coming up a lot in my life recently. Lots of discussions to be had

Never been diagnosed with it but I feel like I identify with it well enough to consider myself to have it.
I have no friends. Can't seem to make any. I don't really try though.

Not sure what point there would be in having a doctor say "yes" or "no" to the condition.
I'm certainly "outside the box" with my social personality. I'm pretty good online. No faces to distract me. Only the information presented is transmitted or received. When people tell me how I feel without telling them how I feel is kind of like magic to me.

I was diagnosed when I was about 9. It explained a lot to my parents about how I wasn't able to make friends at all during elementary school. It was also more or less the reason they got divorced when I was 7. Fortunately, I've managed to kinda sorta live with it. It still prevents me from talking like a normal person, it keeps me from pursing more than one hobby, and ultimately I can't ever say that I'll be over it. But what I CAN say is that I am doing a lot better than the other people with Asperger's my age, since most of them can't even talk to people in public.

Since the term was taken out in, what, 2011, I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder on January 3rd of this year. Nice and after I'm done with my school life, explains some, ahhhhh quirks I have like the really mundane, intense interests and perceiving things in an abnormal fashion (like yeah xenomorphs are cool looking but their tails look like FRIGGIN' BIKE CHAINS whaaaat). It DOES explain why I'm not very good at keeping friends and why I'm super good at specific things (I think, anyway). My dad's been telling me all these years that I'm just lazy but joke's on them, I'm just autistic! ...wait.

I feel like some aspects of my life would've been hella different if I knew then what I know now given the diagnosis - it's made some stuff nowadays a lot easier like hey, maybe I can mention that in job applications (I'm REALLY bad at keeping a job XD). Dunno why the thread exists, though. Are you, like, getting tallies or putting our names in a book or is this more like a "place to come to share our answer" sort of thread.

Also to some... other posters on here... go get it checked out if you're curious; don't be a Tumblrina self-diagnosing yourself with stuff like you know better.

Nope. I just suck at social interaction. Well, specifically the small talk kind of social interaction. I just don't care.

I have a mild form of it, in the sense that social interaction isn't necessarily crippling for me. However, I don't really "get" nuance in conversations unless I am familiar with the person (I am pretty sarcastic, but I can't really detect sarcasm unless I have been around the person for at least a month), and whenever I'm talking, I feel as if there is a part of me that believes others aren't really interested in what I'm saying, which makes conversing somewhat awkward for me, to say the least.

And yes, I was diagnosed, back in high school, so I'm not just saying "socially inept=Asperger's".

Not that I know of but then again I've never been to a psychologist or psychiatrist, in any case I don't think so, I just have awful dice and always roll critical failure on detect intention rolls.

I was tested when I was a kid. The results were somewhere along the lines of: "several points suggest to asperger, but the results aren't strong enough to be labelled as asperger".
And whenever I read about it, I notice several points that fit me quite well. I used to be very awkward in social situations, though now I think I've improved a lot. I've also heard of some people with asperger to be very social. I also like overanalyze sometimes, looking meanings behind meanings.
