I was diagnosed with mild ADD when I was... oh, kindergarten age, then it got amended to mild ADHD, and finally a mild case of aspergers. Didn't learn about it until I was 22, though.

I have not bothered getting diagnosed. I figure this way, I have a lot more in life open to me, and nothing weighing down my mind. I do have gastrointestinal issues, sometimes bad, and my dad had always wondered if I might have fit somewhere on the spectrum, but that sort of knowledge simply does not interest me - especially since I have no inclination to go onto government disability.

I do, diagnosed at 21. Very mildly but just enough to be a real hassle. In hindsight it explains a lot of why my teenage years were so awful.

Notably when I get more emotionally involved with people. I'm extremely sociable and make superficial friends real easy. But there's this emotional ceiling I can't really push through. And don't even start on romantic relationships...

Anyone does indeed.

Not me though, but since we're all here.

How do they test for Asperger's (and other similar stuff, I guess) at the doctor's? A survey and...?

Do aspies have what's commonly called autistic episodes or is that reserved for more severe cases?

I had multiple tests and conversations with a psychologist, they interviewed my mother about my childhood and then talked everything over with a team of psychologists. I doubt that's the same in every country or even every organisation within the same country, but they were pretty rigorous in my case.

I reckon that depends on the severity of the case yes. Sometimes it 'flares up' in my case when stress and whatnot becomes too high but I'm very aware of it. All that really is is the Asperger's becoming, well, noticeable. Most people wouldn't know I have Asperger's otherwise. So I wouldn't call them episodes really.

And yes, I was diagnosed, back in high school, so I'm not just saying "socially inept=Asperger's".
I want to punch the people who say that in the face so badly.

Not that I know of but then again I've never been to a psychologist or psychiatrist, in any case I don't think so, I just have awful dice and always roll critical failure on detect intention rolls.
I misread that as a critical failure on decent cinnamon rolls. Need to stop going to bed at 3 AM...

Also never been diagnosed nor do I know of any indications that I have it

Diagnosed when I was five. Thankfully, I had access to resources and professionals who helped me learn and train myself to overcome the most detrimental attributes and make the whole thing less visible. If you met me offline, it would be hard to tell that I'm not neurotypical.

That said, acting "normal" in my case is literally, well, acting. It's like I'm putting on a live stage performance every time I interact with people, and it gets pretty exhausting sometimes.

Well my baking has gotten pretty bad even though I used to be able to do it when I was a kid, so I guess that too.
