hmm okay then, current gen excluding ps3 (meaning 360, wii, and PC), im a little limited since im mostly into ps3 but you could try D&D daggerfall, torchlight, titan's quest, or diablo 1 or 2 (not technically current gen but damn good)

Thanks for the games,and I do mean to try bastion at one point, But I'm looking more for Action-adventure hack-and-slash.

I'd say Ninja Blade
a lot of people call it a ripoff of Ninja Gaiden, but really, think of it like this
if Ninja Gaiden was Grand Theft Auto, Ninja Blade would be Saints Row
also, Garshasp the Monster Slayer
it's really nothing special, but it does have some pretty awesome art design, and somehow, it has no loading screens during the game, only when starting it, which makes the entire game feel like it's basically just one huge stage

I was gonna say Ninja Blade as well.

Get the 360 version cause the PC version is awful (if you do get the PC version I know how to get past the bugged wall jumps in Level 03)

Other people have already pointed out Bayonetta, but I'd also like to throw Afro Samurai into mix. I actually found it to be quite entertaining and fun, and I haven't ever seen the show it's based on.

Assuming you have a wii you might want to try Moster Hunter Tri. Basically you kill giant monsters and dragons with ridiulassly huge swords and other weapons. I don't know if I'd really call it a hack and slash adventure though. More of a simultor really. But it's pretty fun and has a halfway decent online community. I got a good 100 hours out of it. If I hadn't sold my wii I'd probabluy still be playing it.

It's pretty hard though. You have to be really good at timing and figuring out the monsters' patterns. Also if you try to paly without a classic controller you'll want to kill your self.

Heavenly Sword is a pretty underrated title. A bit short, but very good for a rental.

I agree, might even be worth a buy - i liked it quite a bit, especially Andy Serkis as King Bohan

Depends. Do you have an original Xbox?

If so, go out and get the two otogi games- Otogi: Myth of demons, and Otogi: Immortal Warriors.

They were a pair of hack-and-slash games developed for the Xbox by From Software, the same guys who did Demon's/Dark Souls. They're completely unique, and well worth playing. The combat isn't quite as deep as something like Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry 3, but the games have more than enough positive qualities to place it along side those games.

Firstly, the combat is far lighter and more aerial based than practically any other hack-and-slash game, meaning you can knock enemies into the air, then keep fighting them above the ground for as long as you can keep the combos going.

Secondly, the environments are destructible. Any man-made object or piece of architecture can be destroyed, usually by sending an enemy flying into it. Nothing feels better than finishing a combo by knocking a demon through a wall, then watching that wall collapse on top of them.

Thirdly, the art direction and production values are absolutely top notch in both games. From Software really managed to capture the 'Japanese fairy tale' vibe they were going for, by combining Japanese mythology with psychedelic visuals and traditional Japanses music. The atmosphere of both games is really quite unlike anything else out there.

The first game offers more in the way of weapon variety and RPG customisation, but the second offers more playable characters (six, I believe) all of whom play diffrently, and overall has a more cohesive narrative. But they're both well worth checking out, and you can get them for cheap online. You need an original Xbox to play them though, as they're not compatible with the 360.

If you want silly hack 'N' slash. you have numerous choices depending on your personal preferences:
If you prefer hack n slash with guns as well - go Space marine. It's alright, but not much more than a meh.
If you want ludicrous over the top japaneseness (ironically about ancient china) clearly, it has to be dynasty warriors. Epic fun!

Personally, I loved Spartan:Total warrior on the last gen consoles. Each enemy had a name, and you got to kill A LOT OF THEM. Plus, the weapons and special powers were pretty fun.

Or dante's inferno. But it's a bit tedious after a while. As is darksiders.

Seriously though - Spartan. Creative assembly tried it, kinda worked (it's much better than their most recent one, Viking:Battle for asgard)

Err... no one has mentioned Prototype? Action packed, full of death and destruction, immensely fun. Fun skills and weapons, pretty cheap old game, sequel coming out soon, available on three main platforms.

you could look at El Shaddai, i haven't played it personally but it looks pretty interesting and the art style of what i've seen is brilliant. I think it would be worth a look.

Castle Crashers is sidescrolling hacky slashy fun with a leveling system, item upgrades and great humor. Its an XBLA download and also a great multiplayer game.
