Anyone remember Myst?

So my mind was wandering off during my Poly Sci class and thought back to my gaming memories of Myst. I remembered a photo-realistic game that was a very crazy puzzle game that had an eerie feeling to it. I was only 6 at the time that it came out so needless to say the game was a little too sophisticated for me as I couldn't figure out a lot of the puzzles but the game has just sort of stuck with me all these years. I was looking at screenshots earlier and have to admit that the graphics are still very decent and had to be damn amazing back in 1993 when it was released. I wish now that I had a better grasp of the game so I could have played it all the way through but it still leaves a lasting impact on me and my gaming experience to this day. I have to believe that Myst was one of the most innovative games to ever hit the PC and PC gaming is better for it having been made.

I had the original (rather, my father did), but I was even younger than you -- I think I was only like three when it came out.

Actually, I have the DS version that they made recently to bring the game back. It's still really fun, even in teeny-weenie eye-strain-o-vision.

I played it once, couldn't get past the first puzzle, couldn't find the first puzzle, the hint button did absolutely nothing.

It's supposed to be a great game.

I have number three and need to buy the others. Myst is actually pretty sweet, I think.

Especially the last puzzle in number three.

I was playing Myst in primary school, around 12 years ago, and damned if I don't want to play it now since I only got about 10 minutes into it.

Absolutely no idea whether new operating systems will support it or not, or even if my laptop will (it's pretty budget).

I got it on my phone a few months ago, played it for 5 minutes while sitting on the toilet and never played it again. Great music though.

YES.

THE WHOLE SERIES IS AMAZING.

Honestly, if you didn't feel shivers while rolling around a pinball in Myst 3, you have no soul.

Yes. I was really really young when my Dad had it. I think he only let me play it after he'd already finished pretty much everything because I don't remember ever making anything happen. oO At the time though, it was the prettiest game I'd ever seen.

I never actually "played" it, but I remember messing with it for less than an hour at my great uncle's house (he was the only one in my family who had a computer that could run it). It was great, I only remember a room with a table and chair and a few pieces of colored paper, I was a little confused as I had just seen Jurassic Park and I thought there were velociraptors following me.

That God damned ball of wood and ice confused me when I was younger. How long did the end take you and wasn't the cliffhanger a *****?

i was a little older. I never did complete that game; aligning the star charts to match the constellations in the sky didn't come to me for YEARS of owning that game.

I remember it but I can't say I ever enjoyed it.

Not saying it's a bad game or anything, I'm just not into that game type.

I've been thinking about downloading the ipod touch version of it.

Wasn't really sure if it was fun or not. I'll probably give it a try eventually.

Ya I would like to really go back and download the game for free somewhere just to play through it again since now I would have a better grasp on the puzzles and actually be able to beat the game. Definitely a classic that should not be forgotten in the lore of PC gaming.

I played it and loved it. The entire series was brilliant, although, I'll have to admit, the final game was a bit disappointing for me.

Yeah, played the DS version. Got fed up with not knowing what objects I could actually interact with so I bought the Masterpiece edition off e-bay but I can't get it to work on my PC.

Where is the source? I would be skeptical to think any game could live up to what was the first. I played the 2nd game and never got caught up in it as I did with the first.
