The more competition, the cheaper and better an industry will turn out.
No one says you have to buy their product. DUH.
Nothing bad could come of this, at the most it will have a neutral impact on the industry.
I don't understand why everyone is so butt-hurt over apple, it's just a fucking company.
It's not like Apple raped your little sister or something.

Would you consider buying a console from Apple?
HA- no.

And how much would you pay for it?
Well, if I haaad tooo..
Maybe $150-$200

How much would it cost?
Overpriced. As most of apple's products are.
I'd say around $600-$700

i think thats probably a fake, i mean, look at the controller! its such a blaitent "typical" controller, in fact, although i havent seen one for a while, isnt that a PS2 controller?!?

besides, there isnt any room for another gaming giant in our gaming world, everyones already taken sides (go nintendo!) if you wanna make games now you do it independantly and sell it to one of the big boys

@Audioave10

what company isn't driven by its stock price and money?
The whole point of companies is to make money.
Are you really so naive you think that microsoft or sony arent motivated by the EXACT SAME THING?

If they were to make one I would guess it would support games similar to the the ipad/touch/phone and sell software over the appstore. Probably just a 1080p Wii with cheaper games.

After the nightmarish experience I've had with my last Ipod? It would take alot for me to endorse Apple products, I've never had good experiences with them nor seen a reason to forgo my PC for a Mac.

If the system actually ended up being worth the while and it had games that interested me? Then yes, it doesn't matter who makes the system, if it's up to snuff then it's up to snuff. hell, Microsoft did it.

After all this time, when there's three other big companies in the gaming wars ( The holy trinity of Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft) and they're already really, really, really far behind in terms of computer gaming (Macs have very little when it comes to computer games they can run) why are they getting into the console wars? Why not focus on improving their computers to have a wider range of amazing and interesting games? Granted, Macintosh is a very wealthy and successful company so even if their gaming console bombs (which I'm not going to pass any kind of judgement on in advance) the company probably wouldn't be sunk by making a bad system. Sure, they'd piss people off who were hoping for a new gaming system to amaze and entertain us but they have quality products that they'd be fine

I have had an ipod, my girlfriend had a ipod nano and my father had an iphone.

Notice that it's all in the past tense?

To be short, I don't buy products from Apple anymore.
I find the overall quality (in my experience) to be severely lacking.

The Mac PC started off as a working computer, not a gaming system like Microsoft PCs did. Apple has only had a hand in the gaming market, but it has never been like it is today, which is tenfold/hundredfold bigger than ten years ago. It is now that Apple has gone with the 'Let's incorporate video games into the Mac PC. We have the hardware and technology to.' But you also have to recognize that the game makers are the ones that make games for what system.

An Apple console would be different, as Apple would both need to go over the failure of their first attempt and learn the systems of the 360, PS3, and Wii. That's how Apple works. They study, they go over, and they test.

For the love of all that is good in this world! Please, please do not let Apple fanboys have a console too! The day that hits the market is the day I loose all hope...People think Halo fans are crazy...

this has to be fake, and even if it wasn't if this was released the amount of fanboyism would probably destroy the planet.

Hey its been a long time since a new console hit the market, sony nintendo and microsoft have been "battling" it out for ages, its time for a new challenger to enter the fray.
I remember the old days when there where like a trillion games systems not just 3, I remember a time when any company could produce a game system, I remember a better time when Nintendo where not riding the sales like a surfer on a Tsunami.
and besides...nintendo said they wanted to take on apple, so the way I see it bring on the console war! :D

Macintosh is just a computer. I have a partition on my mac that has windows xp, I play a ton of games on my mac. Works fine, and is faster than my pc. It works fine as a gaming platform, I dont get why everyone says it sucks in that aspect.

So would this be the iConsole and play iGames? Sorry...I couldn't resist. In all seriousness though, I wouldn't even think about buying one. I am perfectly fine with the three established companies.

The New Apple iPlay, an incredible fun console. Supports games made by such famous design studios such as Apple, Mac and iGame. No third person support whatsoever. Only games are Apple iPlay exclusives or games built from the ground up for the console. No porting whatsoever. Other brilliant features include internet through Safari, online gaming through AGN (Apple Gaming Network) and access to the iTunes store.

Anyway...on to my opinion. It'd be an okayish idea. Though I wouldn't buy it since I'm not that huge a fan of Apple. Also important would that it'd be a ***** for developers since Apple isn't well known for being third party friendly. Also I'm worried that they'd do away with a controller altogether and stick to the "Touch" method of playing. Plus its worrying their need to constantly revise their hardware with the smallest tweaks. It definitely wouldn't work in the console ring.

Meh, I wouldn;t be surprised if Apple considered it, but I'm more then willing to bet they'll drop it.

I don't think i will ever get something as silly as that. Besides games that are on other consoles, what else would it have?

No. Not that i don't like apple (i don't but that is not the reason), its because i only like the majesty of the desktop computer for video games. Death to the touch-pad and nipples, they are not meant for gaming! *snarls*

What Apple does with its computers is unique; making the hardware and OS and integrating lots of features. Seeing as that's how consoles work, I would expect an Apple console to have the best use of resources, most functionality etc. After all, they have more experience with it than anyone else.

Also, considering the ease of developing for the iPhone/iPod/iPad we would hopefully see some great games. That is, if Apple is willing to let go of regulatory control.
