Meh. Why not? Microsoft made one why not apple? I don't know how it'll pan out in the market though. Who would they sell to and can the market support 4 systems?

What is with the Apple hate? Macs are extremely reliable and efficient computers, i don't see why you have to group every Mac owner as an elitist and a fanboy. I have a Macbook which i've had for four years straight and it's only crashed twice to my knowledge. Almost no performance issues either. If they made a console like that (even though the PS3 is reliable) then that would be a good thing.

Even if you people won't buy one it means more competition and competition means quality so i don't see what you're bitching about.

I don't think they will however. They will probably trying to get into the PC gaming market (i now have Steam and Portal on my Macbbook) and the newer ones are more than capable gaming computers. Give the good laptops the ability to upgrade video cards and that's all you need to make what i think would be a perfect gaming laptop.

EDIT :

PS. I'm considering getting a gaming PC with my savings money so i can play a couple games that i can't play on my Mac or PS3 so contrary to popular belief, even though i own a mac, i'm open-minded to every platform.

IT's called a Wii.

Besides, WTH would you want apple to make any more new hardware??? Macs= overrated, overpriced crap and Ipad = oversized, WAY OVRHYPED ipod touch.

The ipod is the only decent thing they have. Thats all they should ever make.

Macs, especially mac notebooks are crap at gaming. Ive never seen a mac with even a half decent graphics card and they are unbelievably overpriced. It blows my mind that people buy macs.

If about 80 million people in the world deem a product worthy of it's price i don't think you can just say that it's totally unimaginable. Even though you might not get the same raw force, you get the OS and the efficiency and streamlined interface that comes with it.

Have you ever owned a Mac? I'm sure you would understand a bit better if you'd owned one for a while.

The Macbook Pros have NVidia Geforce 320M graphic cards... To my knowledge they're relatively good. Also you can get them with 512Mb. It's certainly not bad.

So do these rumour have a source you're willing name or are you just making stuff up for the sake of stirring the fanboys up? Yeah, thought so.

If Apple were developing a games console I doubt we'd hear about it. Apple are one of the most secretive companies in consumer electronics.
Yes it's in the OP actually.

Perhaps you should try reading first before posting :/
Amazing how that didn't appear until an edit that happened after I called OP on it... Course its my fault for not being psychic and reading something that wasn't written yet. Yes. Thats it. :'''''/

And my point stands. Dragging up rumors from July of last year to shoehorn into a "I herd rumors u guise" thread? And a concept that looks like the albino result of Brabantia bin humping a Game Cube?

Sure, why not? Yeah with all these facts Apple must be doing exactly that.

I'm afraid you are wrong good sir, I'm sure that most people who posted on the first page will confirm that there were 2 links in the OP before any edits.

Also, I do believe that I am alowed to post a topic that is relevant to gaming interests.

This would look so horrible...
I think they are trying to appeal to the "Look its shiney" crowd.
OT: They only way I would even consider buying one of these things if Steve Wazniak was in charge of its development from start to finish. Ever since he left and let Jobs do as he pleases Apple has been nothing but a disapointment to me.

So, it'll be overpriced, pointlessly flashy, actually do nothing special and only serve as a status symbol for elitists? Yeah, good luck with that...
I disagree with your post, Apple pricing methods are relitively on par with other companies such as Toshiba, Dell, Sony and HP. At least in New Zealand at any rate.

I think it would be a good addition to the market, to be honest. Apple has never really been a hardware manufacturer and has moved into the entertainment industry with it's iTunes store as the Apple hardware being not much more than a client to access their media, I don't see why an Apple console of sorts would be out of the picture. Although, I do think it would be more focused around something like the Apple TV with a disc drive and a controller. Effectively being a flashy media extender - or another xbox 360/PS3

And before anyone attacks me for having a mac. I dual boot Win7 64 bit with bootcamp to run games such as CoD6, CA, Red Alert 3, Company of heroes, Crysis etc. I'm sure you get the idea. So all in all, they are pretty good for everything. I find that the hardware side of things is a tad more reliable than the third party systems running a Microsoft OS. and Vista was just rubbish.

It blows my mind that you are so bias and ignorant as to not look at current pricing and specs before posting such a useless reply.

Yep, and its going to be called the JEBwench!

Its going to be called iPippininini.

No wait, the iGame or possibly the iPlatform.
The iWastedmymoney?
ya then you will also get endless revisions of the console because they was too lazy to add features everyone else has (or just out to farm money) *cough iPhone*

so you would get iXXXXXX then just a year later! iXXXXX 3g! now with 2 player option and pointless 3G network Features! then iXXXXX 4.2G We made it smaller! Give us moar Monay!

Oh! and dont forget the console will have so much chrome on it, you would have permanent glare if you dared play it in daylight without the curtains drawn! unless they go with bland over the top white which will stand out like a soar thumb xD
This sounds likes Sony's plan for the PS3... PS3 Slim....

I have a Linux machine which has an uptime of around the same amount of time. I'm guessing your Macbook wasn't on constant.

(Also: I really should get it a kernel update.)

I hear your points.
I'm just curious, as I don't live in Europe, but how many of these same friends own iPhones?
I think Apple is a smart company really, otherwise they wouldn't be a multibillion dollar corporation. I don't think they would lock the console up solely with exclusive content, as that would be a bit counter productive. I understand why the do it with the iPad and other products, but those aren't gaming platforms. I would assume at the very least if they made a console they would do some market research and realize that not having major developers on their console would be a bad financial decision.

In any case this is all speculation on both our parts. I just have a hard time believing that if they were entering a very competitive market that already has established market leaders, that they would limit themselves by not offering things like third party developed software. They only get away with stuff like that in the handheld market because they have practically monopolized it.
as i dont live in europe either, i have a bit of family over there and i have met a good 40 or so foreign exchange students all from different parts of europe, so this is a more general analysis, 2 of them had an iphone, most of them had the standard ipod (this was a few years ago) but when it came to pc's none of them use mac at all. so just some info for the day to chew on.

and idk we will see a change im sure in the itouch/handheld category, with googles phone coming out and a few other ones upgrading, steve jobs himself was getting royally pissed off about it, so they might not hold it for long.

Thats funny. I use macs everyday. I even work at Future Shop (A Canadian version of best-buy) and I deal with all types of computers. I know there specs and prices.

What does the Wii even have to do with an Apple Console?

Nintendo and Apple are 2 completely different companies you know...
The Wii is basically like a mac product. How can you not see it?

Also please no, we don't need apple in on the console market. Their inevitably high prices would just give the other companies an excuse to charge more in the next console generation, and i doubt it would be much different and certainly not better than anything already in existence

The Wii is white and alot of mac products are white.

Yes that's about the only simularity there is.
