iPad? Really?

While I'm not going to pretend I wouldn't like to see this thing in action that is the most ridiculous name since the Wii.

iPad... sounds like something you'd find down the women's hygiene isle at Wal Mart.
Shush! You've just revealed Apple's next amazing product.
OT: I think it's a load of crap to be honest, not small enough to be a phone and not powerful enough to be a laptop? I'm sorry but...

Oh great. First we make the ipod and derivative crap smaller, now we make them bigger again... Complete circle. Soon we'll be making them smaller again and calling them increasingly idiotic names. inb4 "iPood".

Waiting for someone to create the iDontgiveacrap.

Or down the darker section of a sex shop.

What will poor Arnold Schwarzeneggar do? He'll ask his assistant to "get to da stoa, and buy me an eye pahd." Said assistant will likely be fired, after several hours of confusion at the Apple store. This will probably happen several times before he figures it out.

Why does no one help this man?

What an awful name and I'm surprised that the marketting team couldn't come with something that doesn't sound like a feminine hygiene product.

Also this product has less capabilities than a netbook and yet doesn't have the suberb portability of an iPod Touch/iPhone. If the iBook is supposed to be the "killer app", then good luck competing with the e-ink technology of Amazon and B&N which emulates the look of a printed book. This iPad will probably just the standard Apple backlight screen.

Sadly there will always be the Apple sheep who will buy anything Apple makes regardless of the quality and functionality versus competing products.

No multi-tasking, no camera, nowhere near the storage of a netbook at a similar price. You're essentially trading a lot of usefulness for a multi-touch screen and tilt sensitivity.

Sorry, Apple, don't see it flying.
I see it flying...out a window

Gotta say when I first heard that Apple actually made a tablet I almost had a nerdgasim, but I'll wait until it becomes better then an actual laptop. I'll keep my Mac book for now.

yeah but even if it was found in the feminine hygiene isle in walmart i would not even go near it
and they really need to get people to come up with better names that don't refer to either genitalia or any weird and screwed up like this one

I like my iPhone, and I can understand why it's so limited, but taking the same limitations and making it into a bigger thing doesn't make it better.

There's one thing that will stop any corporation from trying to replace their laptops/netbooks with this: the iPad cannot multitask applications (you can't have more than 1 open at a time, for example: you can't listen to your music while writing a paper or surfing the net).

Still not good enough for me. $12.99 in the US means like $15.99 in Canada and for that price I'd rather have a legitimate physical product instead of a "rental" from Apple.

Seriously? 64GB of memory? At maximum? And none of the configurations cost as much or less than a netbook? Could someone please explain to me any possible appeal of being screwed over by blindly following a company like this?
It is only available up to 64GB of storage so that, 2 months from now, Apple can release one with 128GB and all the Apple fanboys (and girls) will "have" to cough up another $1200.

Sounds more like iFail to me.

..Wait, so what this would be used for? Too inconvenient and too little space to be used as a laptop, and too huge for a phone or to hide in your pocket... Fail.

I have never bought anything from Apple and never will.

Looks really, really boring. Kind of looks goofy to carry around too.
Yeah have to say I'm not impressed.

But at least I'll be one of the first in .au to get one (demo models come to re-sellers before going to clients IIRC)

It's similar to what I said about the iPhone phenom. They released the iPad or what I said the iTablet.

Looks ugly though. I think Apple has ripped a page from Nintendo's marketing department.
