I am an atheist, because i have found no HARD evidence is support of the idea of a god. And also i cannot see it working as i am a man of science and rationality
But i want to know everyone elses opinions on religion, on god, on atheism, on the flying spaghetti monster with his noodley appendages, on everything to do with religion based around the idea of religion being fiction.
And also... religion is not wrong, and never has been, it is just alternative views of the world.

Christ, if you want to know literally every member's personal beliefs look at one of the many religion threads. I'm sure we all posted on one at some point.

TLDR version: Use search bar, you can't even act like you tried.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is the one true God.

Anyways, you'll see that this forum is either atheist or Christian (With very few in the middle).

You'll also probably be sparking a flame war.

There are however many unanswered questions that leave scope for the presence of god. Being of rationality means accepting the short comings of ones knowledge and avoiding dealing in absolutes. (please note however, that this does not apply to sith lords)

Anyhoo, take a stroll through the search function, there's plenty of discussion of this you should find interesting.

This thread does have a high potential to be a flamewar.

I see no reason why we cant rationally discuss this, though.

Wow. I am being amazingly optimistic today.

Look, i need results for my science coursework, psychology and all that crap, and i need first hand data, and cannot use a secondary source, so someone elses thread wasn't an option.
Also... flame wars can be fun to watch

Yes, yes I think atheism is right. But I might not be completely objective on the matter. Heh.
The thing with faith is, that it doesn't require evidence.
You can never disprove the non-provable.
I think if religion stayed out of science's realm (i.e., stopped Creationism and Intelligent Design bullshit) and stayed true to what it was (i.e. a spiritual and ethical guideline), we would have a lot less problems.
Something that is neither provable nor disprovable has no place in science and should not act like a serious alternative.
But that doesn't mean it has no place in society altogether.

Softball thread of the night.

Nobody knows, but we're god-damned sure that no modern religions have it right.

Religious believe that they have the golden ticket. Good for them.

The personality will always trump the religion, however, so it's best to get to know people before making presumptuous claims about them. Not that you did.

Ever heard of Lionel from Charlie Brown?
He has a good point:
"There are 3 Things you don't discuss: Politics, Religion, and the Great Pumpkin."
This is in clear violation of those rules.
Tsk, Somebody is getting a rock for Halloween..

Most atheists assume that if a god exsist he has to be a good guy.

I think agonostics have the right idea.

Frankly, I don't give a damn. Who cares? I don't want to spend my life worrying about where I will go when I die.

The problem is that this implies there are religions that are "WRONG", and as Atheists don't seem to believe that Xenu existed, I'd say they aren't.

In the almighty words of Denny Crane (I've been watching Boston Legal recently...)

"It's better to believe in a god then not, why? Because if you believe in God, but there isn't one, no harm done. But if you don't believe in God, and there turns out to be one, you're fucked!"

Just a tidbit of funny info there :D
