if i'm not running forward, or flanking, then i'm in cover, but i'm damn sure am firing lots of lead at them.
not hiding like a KITTY waiting for single enemies, its either suppression, diversion, or assault for me.

Most of the time, no.

If I do end up corner-camping or something on MW2, it's because I'm 1 or 2 away from a big killstreak, or I know someone is chasing me. And if I successfully kill a person via this method, 9 times out of 10 I will immediately displace, because they now know where I am, and also so they can see that I'm not a true camper on their killcam.

I don't do a lot of online shooters. Any games I've played that allow camping, I only do to

A) Snipe
B) Lob grenades all over the place
C) If I'm bored and want to step out of the fray for a moment just to watch other people murder eachother.

But most of the time I'm in games that make camping too difficult because the game requires you to move.

Hmm, do you mean camping, as in sitting in one spot, zoomed in waiting for someone to move by?
Or do you mean playing defensively, running around an area, defending the objective?

The former is a cheap tactic and those using it should be abolished from the game...and this world. But the former is a proper playstyle. it's pretty stupid to run around aimlessly hoping to run into someone you're meant to kill and hoping you'll see them first.

If you do, you ruin the game.
Be honest, you made this thread entirely for this statement, didn't you?

OT: I'm a sniper. It's what I'm good at.

However, I don't see camping with a different gun as unfair. If you don't have the common sense to not go barging around without checking for enemies, then it's your own fault when you die.
But what these people do is stay in a specific room for a long time just to get kills. With a sniper you tend to be at a disadvantage when a dude gets behind you with an AR, but when you're hiding with a shotgun to specifically kill anyone who comes through, you not only ruin the flow of the game but you're causing grief to other players just to get a high kill ratio.

I respect a good sniper, but campers just make me mad. I'm generally a flanker/steamroller, and a guy who gets kills on me because of camping is showing disrespect to both me and the game in general.

Yes. I do it.

I try not to unless theres a steady stream of guys coming through one door or hallway. Then I cant help it. Should I move away and try to find a new spot even though people will surely come to me if I stay there? I think not. The rest of the time I travel around.

Two threads?

Shame.

No, I do not camp.

It is boring for me to sit there and let people come to me.

Casting NulBlaze on the OP. This can't end well.

I never camp, personally. I secretly try to play everything like Quake. I run, and I shoot, and I kill. Effectively, mind you. I knife campers, laugh at their misfortune, and move on. I prefer to stalk people. It's much more fun.

Campers usually get an explosive from me when i respawn usually in the form of a thumper, tube or something with FMJ. Usually they're in the same spot. Generally, they're less than impressed and call me out for ruining the integrity of the game. To each his own i suppose.

A proper one. Track target, and eliminate.
I snipe by following teammates and helping them in battles or save them from an ambush. I'm much better at shooting people when they are busy with someone else :D

I don't camp, i prefer to think of it this way: take an element of a multiplayer game, and ask yourself, if everybody did this, would the game still work? if the answer is no, then the tactic/weapon/upgrade/whatever is unfair and/or not part of the way the game is supposed to be played.

camping, in case you are wondering, would cause the games to cease working should everybody choose to do nothing but camp, therefore it is bad (IMO).
But wouldn't building sentry's, defending a base, being a medic in most games, and Kamikaze's all come under the exact same definition?

Most multilayer games come with multiple ways of playing. That's kind of a hint that it's supposed to be like that, isn't it?

Nah I'm too impatient to camp. I move constantly, setting myself up in positions with good views for about a minute at a time, then I move on.

If you can take and hold a position with a tactical advantage you are playing the game. If you cant find a way to eliminate the person holding the advantage you are not playing the game. You are whining because everyone doesn't engage in childish arena SMG melee clusterfucks.

What's wrong with camping? All you have to do is throw a grenade at the camp-spot.
Besides, it's a legitimate strategy. (Any strategy is legitimate as long as it doesn't involve hacking. (Unless it's hacking as in hack 'n slash of course.))
So, yes, I camp, sometimes (not all the time though, because it gets boring.)

I don't personally I also don't have a problem with it, how hard can it be to hit a stationary target anyway? I always get accused of camping in MW2 because unlike most people I use my ears and take appropriate action for example: hide around a corner when I hear someone near and shoot them when they pass me which somehow makes me a camper.
