Depends on the genre. I'm terrible with shooters (for example I played Bioshock on easy)but I'm rather good with strategy and RPGs like Persona 3. I also have a good memory and rhythm for things like fighting and music games.

Born in 1991, think I started gaming in about 1995. For real. ^_^

Shooters (especially First Person): Yes, I am good. I'm not top tier, but I'm very confident in my ability to beat the majority of other players in FPS games I've played.
This is especially true on PC. On consoles, well... I'm okay I guess, but no where close to my level on PC.

Real-time or Turn-based Strategy: Eh. This is where I suck. I always end up turtling, and while for some strategy games you can still win with this strategy, in most other strategy games this will pretty much end in failure almost 100% of the time. The moment I go up against another player with any kind of skill in the game, I'm pretty much guaranteed to lose.

Racing: About 50/50 here. If I practice on a racing game, I can just break ahead of the majority, but again, if I ever go up against a "serious" racing game player, I'll most likely lose.

Puzzle: I'm pretty good, but I won't say much more than that because I don't play them often. Though I used to play Myst games a lot when I was younger... Loved them. :D

Sports: I'm okay if I ever play them for more than just a little while, but yeah, I don't play them often.

I've missed a few game-types, but I feel I've already gone into enough detail. :p

I can pretty much pick up any game and be okay at it , after about 30 mins i'll be above average . Depending on the learning curb i guess , rare are the games that i can't play because i'm not good at it , except for RTS games , although i did play and like alpha centuri . I guess i'm a pretty good gamer , i start games on my first playthrough on hard ever so often . I played nier on hard the first time , call of duty mw2/black ops on hardened the first time , played halo 3 for first time on heroic ,gears of war 2 also . I bought deadspace 2 yesterday and started it on survivalist ( the level over normal ) for my first playthrough. Finished catherine on normal without using the undo button ( mostly because i didn't realised it existex until day7) and my first playthrough of dead space 1 i got the one gun achievement for playing/finishing the game using only the plasma cutter, also i finished FF13 without upgrading any of my weapons/accessories . Theres others but i think you get the point.

EDIT; oh like i said i started dead space 2 on survivalist mode for my first playthrough , i'm also only using the plasma cutter just for fun and extra challenge.

Depends on the game.
I beat Mass Effect 2 on Insanity with, like, five gameovers in total- of course, by that time I'd beaten the game a bunch of times and knew all the tricks, and was playing as a defensive soldier so I was able to win most difficult encounters by sheer attrition.

Conversely, I'll never be "Korean-level" at StarCraft, and actually die or get kicked from the game within five minutes.

Sometimes it's not even a genre issue- I'm all over the place at FPS
In TF2 I'm often top of the leaderboards and actually complete objectives (rather than just work on my damn kill-count, snipers).
But in realistic shooters such as CoD, I'm functionally retarded and frequently no threat to anyone, even if I've gotten the drop on them.

The point is, I'm not great- but I'm pretty good sometimes.
More importantly, I just play at whatever difficulty/genre/game, etc. that I fell most comfortable at or have the most fun in.

The only reason for me to play on a harder difficulty than normal is if I've beaten it before and I don't replay that many games(Too many games on my to play list).

I'm 21 and I've been gaming since I was 6. I have the Crest of Hyrule tattooed on my back and I donno where I'd be without games. However, that doesn't mean I'm a particularly good gamer.
I've played through Mass Effect 2 several times on normal difficulty, but on hardcore? No no no no. Y'know the part, half way through, where you make your way into the supposedly dead Reaper and get ambushed by a load of Collectors on platforms? Can't do it, nope, not a chance.

My point is, for all of the love you have for games, are you actually good at Halo, DIRT, CoD, God Of War or Portal?
Sure, we all have our strengths. For example, it's a scientific fact that I am unbeatable at Crash Team Racing, but I am rubbish at almost all first and third person shooters, even though I play them quite a lot.

So, gamers, what games do you suck at, even if you love them and play them often?
Yeah, I'm good at Halo, though I hate multiplayer, but while legendary on Halo Xbox took FOREVER to complete (and Halo 2 on the Xbox and then on the Vista PC took EVEN LONGER (stupid dual plasma rifles in the first level) it eventually became a routine to go through.

I'm not bad at multiplayer, but I don't like it.

At Gears of War? Not all that good, tactics are different and while the SP on max difficulty isn't too tough for me, I just don't like the multiplayer to even one degree as I don't think it's balanced and "cheap tactics" are all over the place.

At RPG's? I don't usually play higher difficulties on PC or anything though I may have on Dragon Age at some point.

Deus Ex? Did that on the highest difficulty on the PC, not that hard.

Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 I've definitely gone through on the highest difficulty (or was it just ME 1 that I did insane on? I'm not sure, I've had the 360 version for quite a few years.

So yeah... I'm good at games... but I play for story and hate multiplayer.

I play pretty much game I have on the hard setting the first time around, because otherwise it's just too easy; and I cut off the first game of Halo I had played in over a year when I realized my score was more than 4 times my friend's.

I think yes.

I have been playing since I was two. My first words were "pickle pickle" mimicking the pause sound from Super Mario Bros. All Stars.

I fucking suck at games.

I can't even think of any specific games. Literally, every game I play I just blow chodes at. I have absolutely no idea why I still do it.
Aside from masochism, I mean.

I would say I am average. I can stumble through single player games just fine. And if there is some kind of end of level rank or grade system (like Valyria Chronicles) or end of game ranking system(like Metal Gear Solid) I could probably get perfect through enough trial and error. Most of the time though, I tend not to bother with it.

As for multiplayer games, (like Halo or Team Fortress 2) how good I do seems to depend on luck. Either I kick ass when I'm on a good team, or get completely annihilated on a bad team. Or sometimes even vice versa.

I've been playing games all my life, yet... I wouldn't say i'm "Great" at them. At best, I am "good" or at least "competent". That's when it comes to multiplayer, at least. Single-player on the other hand... well my breakneck speeds of beating games speak for themselves. I routinely beat games within a day or two, even large RPG's.

I think so I've beaten most of my games on the hardest difficulty, I usually go for the higher difficulties when starting a new game, and I do pretty well in online games compared to most of the people I've seen. You've got to have some level of skill to get the big boss rank in a metal gear solid game you've got to beat the game on the hardest difficulty without killing anyone or being spotted all in under 5 hours let me tell you although not easy not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

I'm godlike with Metroid, Castlevania and Oblivion, relatively good with Runescape, and bad-but-dont-care with most other games.
