I know this is probably not the best place to ask.
But the idea of a thread like this raises that among other questions.
It's something that confuses me because I have seen so many kids, teens and even young adults who believe that attractiveness (Why is that even a word?) should take place over their own sense of self worth. As if being attractive in the eyes of others somehow increases your worth as one of these gosh darn imperfect humans that we happen to be.
I lived with a girl about 20 years old who whenever she went down the street, even if it was just to grab groceries would spend a minimum of 30 minutes getting ready...
Is this the social norm? Is this just a small case? Am I just making mountains out of molehills?
Personally I don't know that I can define someone, nay anyone male or female as universally attractive or unattractive because how do you express a universal variable as a generalisation, What is attractive to me might be repulsive to the next guy. What I find less then pleasing to the eye might be someones ideal of a god/ess.
It comes down to more than the eye of the beholder but the mind of the one being viewed. Deep down is the dream/wish of attractiveness merely just a grasp at what we see as normality, or what we want to be normality.
So as to contribute something positive instead of pissing on people's parades

That's me. As pure and simple as it can be. I can't pose worth of poop nor do I like photos but that's what I am.
Just think about it people.
There is more to the man than his face or his clothes and a photo doesn't capture the essence of a man, it can not capture his loves, his hates, his passion or his personality. A photo captures time, a split second. No sooner in passing than the moment before it.
Authors Note. By man I do infact mean all people but I will not alter my speech for fear of offence. If you do take offence I apologise.
Have faith in yourselves, no matter what you look like, what smaells you make, what noises you create or sounds you find enjoyable you belong to the greatest group on Earth. People.

Smiling always helps! And thanks for the compliment, although I must repeat the condition of my skin doesn't really show. I don't use make-up so I walk around with pizza-face most of the time (or almost).zelda2fanboy said:Thanks, I probably do need to smile more. I always thought my Simpsons avatar looks more like me than I do. You call yourself average, but I'm sure you would get stared at by my coworkers.
Plain? Where? You look almost exactly like a girl I knew from Japanese class years ago - she had curly black hair, that's basically the only difference - that I probably would have agreed to have a sapphic experiment with if asked. Just sayin'... >.> (Yes, I'm straight!)dorkette1990 said:I know I'm incredibly plain. When I dye my hair, or cut it, or wear something bold, I get tons of compliments. Because then I look less plain. Otherwise, I'm the low end of average. My charm is in my abrasive personality instead of my plain-Jane face.

I personally think about how I look a lot, and I know I shouldn't, but I WANT to be attractive, for both my future boyfriend (just sneaked outta a relationship, /sigh) and for my own sense of ego. I know it's not right, but I at least can admit it.
For a while I was taking dieting pills and focusing all of my energy on what I was eatting. Now Ive relaxed, but I still wanna look pretty.
You're beautiful as long as you feel comfortable with yourself. :3
