Are you buying Star Wars the Old Republic?

Sorry to be disappointing OP, but it's really not that different from WoW... the grind is worse (the first 5 hours of play were ok, the next 15 were like pulling teeth, and I swear Coruscant was the WORST experience I've ever had in any mmo. Imagine the very bland and repetitive dungeons from Dragon Age 2 but without the interesting characters and sense of progression and story and the usual mmo-ish "kill x number of y"). And you have to do that with EVERY new character on the republic side.

The story and dialogues are meh, I stopped giving a crap and started skipping through the dialogues after the first 10 or so quests.

The character classes are really dull, and I found the gameplay for the ranged ones to be really really bad. The smuggler for example is like playing a Siege Tank in starcraft... go there, "deploy" (aka get in cover), use ability, kill enemy, get out of cover, move there, deploy, kill, move out of cover, deploy, and so on.

I did like the fact that, even while playing solo, the game focuses on fighting groups of enemies at a time. That manages to make combat *slightly* less boring.

I was really hoping for this game to be the "WoW-Killer".... but all I could think while playing TOR was "sigh, I was I could play WoW instead" for the entire 40+ hours I spent playing

And no, I will not be buying it.

If you thought Coruscant was bad, you should've seen Tatooine. That's when you get your first mount (90%) and the zones are scaled to compensate (and then some). Tatooine is enormously huge and almost completely empty. Fair enough, I guess, it is a desert planet, but it's probably 3 Northrend zones in size and something like 20 quests (not counting bonus quests/series). You don't even visit half the planet's territory, because it's for the other faction.

The first 3 contested planets you visit after your faction's planets (starter, Coruscant/Dromund, Taris/Balmorra) have around a couple hours of actual content per planet, while travel time increases dramatically between them. Difficulty also increases, so your gear, class, spec, and companion choices start to actually matter. A tanky class is gonna have fun, while a squishy DPS will have a slower, more grindy experience. I'm gonna wait a couple months and see if they rebalance the solo content before even considering buying the game.

Nah. I am not a big fan of Star Wars at this point. I liked it a lot better before the universe expanded to the point it is now. It also looks to be a very mediocre MMO, which is par for the course for an MMO.

I'll wait till it eventually goes Free to Play because they don't get enough cash after people cancel subscriptions.

It's World of Warcraft with less content and KotOR side-mission quality writing and voice work.

I played a couple weeks of the beta, but I won't be getting the game, it's far too simplistic and button mashy with very little mechanical innovation. The story additions are great but it feels like I'm playing WoW which I'm totally sick of.

I was told not to buy it or pre-order it which leads me to believe the person intends to purchase it as a gift for me for the holidays.

Still sorta pissed I'm getting it at least a week after my best friend.

Still on the fence, I'll wait another 3 months or so and read reviews from actual players on youtube. To many "payola" type reviews out there nowadays to be trust worthy.

I'd rather play some free to play, and BETTER mmos than pay a monthly fee for what should be charging no monthly fee. TOR will fail, and fast, it will go free to play sooner rather than later, but by then I won't care. It's too much like wow, too much clicking, too little skill.

Guild wars 2 is were it's at. Embrace the future, leave the past behind.

Lol you clearly haven't played TOR. It's ridiculously popular, every server is packed. And that is before the game was even officially released.

I'd rather wait for Guild Wars 2 if I was going to play any MMO. Maybe when Aion goes free I will give that a shot.

No. No no no no no no.

No.

I've seen what kind of games BioWare produces lately, and I find it all over-hyped, mediocre, boring tripe. The only BioWare product I can appreciate is this cup [http://www.tulipcatering.co.uk/products/disposables/large/Hutamaki%20Bioware%20Cup%20Range%20Hot%20Cups.jpg], (No, it doesn't involve two girls.) and that's only because my soup would spill otherwise.

No.
