I thought the point was that something has occured and now Gotham City itself is the 'asylum'.
That's exactly what I thought.

I'm pretty excited for this, though very surprised that a trailer came out so soon - Arkham Asylum only came out about 4 months ago and they've already announced a sequel? I don't know about you, but that gives me a 2010 release-date vibe.

Still, you can tell it's Mark Hamil voicing the Joker again - which is good news - and I'm glad to see Harley Quinn in the trailer, too.

I just hope this game gets enough time to get the same feeling of quality that I got from the first game. I don't mind waiting 2 years for a good game, chaps, I don't mind it at all.

Yep... i'm more and more convinced that this is some sort of DLC, not an actual Sequel to the game.

If so, I'd be extremely concerned about how quickly it's arrived.

GTA IV the ballad of gay tony took longer than this to create. You cant design all new levels and expanding gameplay on a broad scale in less than a year after releasing the first game, not to mention all the voice acting to be done, etc...

If this doesnt turn out to be DLC, I'll eat my game disk.

Get your knife and fork ready mate. Remember Left 4 Dead 2?

Anyway, I don't have any problem with releasing a trailer for a game without a release date or even a proper name, especially since this a very different kettle and fish from L4D.

AA was a single player experience. Once you'd done with the story it was pretty much over (well, except for the challenge modes, which I played a lot of I must admit) where as with L4D they could have carried on adding more and more content and the game would have remained as entertaining as ever.

Anyway, though this trailer was released only 3 months after the originals release, that hardly means it's coming out tomorrow. I expect a year at the very least. I mean they already have the engine and game mechanics down, all they need are new environments, a new story, a couple of new gadgets and they're away.

Well it looks like they're taking the Escape from New York aproach and just walled off a section of the city and made it the prison. And Two-Face hell ya. And Harly Quinn still looked young so it can't be far in the future.

The Joker's looking pretty old actually, so maybe the timeline skipped ahead. I really hope "Arkham has moved" is some sort of metaphor for the setting moving outside of the actual asylum, because another Arkham gauntlet would be wearing the plot pretty thin. Also, it's kind of funny how no-one doubts Batman's ability to kick ass, even as an old man (with good reason, of course).

looks like Gotham is open for the next game, or a section of it at least- a lot like the Narrows at the end of Batman Begins where everyone's been poisoned by fear toxin.

*and youll notice the front of The Penguin's Iceberg Lounge during one second of the trailer

So, either Joker is still fucked up from his last encounter with Batman OR he's old and this will be some sort of Dark Knight Returns type story (though I doubt it).

Also, Arkham's Moved?

Thoughts?
yeah, he's probably just recovering. ]
I can't wait for it

Not so sure it's the same thing...
Valve was already working on L4D2 before they even released L4D1, plus design-wise, they did so to make the experience much better... Instead of trying to make the corrections through patches etc, they opted to start with a new edition and quite frankly, I have no complaints. I can sorta tell why they opted to make a second game rather than just endlessly support the first when the difference between the two is apparent from the first go around.

But AA was the first batman game to seriously get things RIGHT...
My problem is, I dont see them being able to do the same thing as Valve right out of the gate, we arent talking about a studio with the record Valve has... too much, too fast, and you run the risk of putting out a substandard 'sequel'... think Prince of Persia 2...
