it does seem a fair trade really, PS3 gets more levels, PC gets better physics, tho i think the PS3 could probly get the physx since they have an nvidia chip
Umm.... No. The PS3's nvidia chip is based on the old 7800 series, which does NOT have PhysX support at all. All the Physics would have to be offloaded to the SPE's

I think I will stick with my shafted 360 version with no joker thank you; my computer would crap itself and die if it tried to run arkham.

The PhsyX library is available as hardware and software solutions, UT3 uses PhsyX as standard both 360/ps3 can use it but the additional effects like cloth take more power than what is left over after they have dealt with all the A.i etc on the console

"All the Physics would have to be offloaded to the SPE's" You missed that last part. I am well aware that there is also a software version of PhysX. I was simply correcting Cleverlymadeup's assumption that the PS3's GPU was capable of doing the PhysX calculations, which it is not. Only the more recent nVidia GPU models have PhysX support. Having the full PhysX suite be offloaded to the SPE's would be quite demanding and as such it would probably slow the game down. The PS3's version of Arkham already has many of the graphical calculations done on SPEs to begin with, so I doubt there's much room for extra physics calculations. Regardless, the last point is moot, the console versions do have a Physics engine, it's just not nearly as good as PhysX.

The physics are actually quite well done. Gives the sense of a natural environment, rather then everything emitting sparks and staying in tact. This shall be a good game upon release, unless it has some horrible PC bugs.

I supose thats one way to get PC owners to buy a port. Appeal to their sense of superiority.

For 10 times the price of an xbox 230 arcade you'd hope to get some benefits from a gaming rig.
Excuse me, but my PC costs less than an Xbox 360 nowadays. And it's pretty well-known that PC games look better, simply because of their superior (at least amongst the mid to high-end settings) GPU and raw power.
You're excused. Gaming rigs do cost more than consoles, I can pick up a 360 for £110. You can spend more than that on a graphics card. I'd want better graphics for the money.

Not being a parasitic student anymore I no longer own a gaming PC. It's not affordable.
Hoho. 110 pounds? I would be glad to take that money and spend just on a GPU. Maybe Xboxes are cheaper in UK, here they still cost over 1400 PLN, that's a lot more. About 230 pounds, I think. Sure, Arcade version is cheaper, but you should either buy Elite/Pro or nothing. it's just not worth it.

For instance, my GeForce 9800 was about 450 PLN (almost exactly 100 EUR) year ago in December, it's probably a lot cheaper now. But Arcade costs here almost 1000 PLN. For that much, I would be able to buy a new E7400, power supply and have enough money for 2x2GB RAM. And THAT would be a lot better than any Xbox.

Especially since I have almost 600GB on my HDD dedicated just for games. And downloads of course. And how much does an Xbox have, again...?
I don't know or even care what spec my xbox is. It plays the games I want and thats plenty for me. All your price comparisons are dandy, but youre still just buying parts. The whole costs more. I pulled up a random site typeing in "graphics card" and 10 of the 25 on the first page were more than the 360. My laptop cost more than my 360 and its not exactly a gaming power house. If you can afford it great. I have other expenses.

you are aware that the graphics cards you were looking at are in no way required for anything that will come out for a long time right?

and following that video, i think the pc version looks a hell of a lot more atmospheric. but maybe thats just me.

Okay, I don't want to sound like a 360 fanboy (I don't even have one; I have a pc), but where in hell did you manage to get a half decent pc for less than a 360?

Damn, those are some of the most shoe-horned physics items I've ever seen, especially the hanging cloth and the papers on the floor. Don't get me wrong, it looks cool, but it's more than a little bit pointless.

I bought E2160 and overclocked it to 2.4GHz, bought a really good 9800GT and on Monday or Tuesday I'm buying 2x2GB RAM. Considering I haven't bought power supply since at least 2005-2006, and I also have 2 discs (250GB and 500GB) that are not required in an awesome PC.

But still, it's a kickass machine. And if I didn't live in Poland (but for instance in the US), I could've gotten an even be... Oh, wait, you have also cheaper Xboxes. So price wouldn't be that much lower.
