Competitive gaming is a term used to describe people who play a game for the sake of begin better at it then everybody else and it doesn't have anything to do with the complexity of the actual game.
See, that is exactly my point. They aren't playing it for fun anymore and just playing it to be better then other people, and the people I know like that sit there and trash casual games and anything outside of the three games they play. The types of games where you have to play them for months before you are decent enough to kill someone... how does anybody find that fun?

I don't know about any games where you have to practice for months before you become good at the game. I for one really like having to invest time in my game before i can master it, i like the challenge. But please understand that playing a game for the challenge doesn't mean your not having fun. The point i was trying to make is that if people care more about there high-score then there fun then they can behave like twats regardless of what game they are playing. There is no such thing as "a competitive game", only competitive players.

Some of the most complex games i have ever played are actually single player focuses with little or no online abilities or high-scores at all.
Yeah, I know the whole thing with challenging vs just plain stupid. Like STALKER, that game is pretty damn hard, but still fun. Then there are Novalogic games (Black Hawk Down/Joint Operations) where people make levels that are supposed challenging or something, and they designed it to be impossible to beat or have stupid things like enemies that can see you through fog, trees, or from miles away.

The author of that article just sounds like a petty sore loser who cant work out how to use the motion controls properly. I havn had a huge amount of experience with the wii and action games but I managed to complete the force unleashed on it in about 9 hours with relative ease. The motions controls actually helped me feel mor ein tune with the game. Theres something epic about thrusting your hand forward and watching your character blast a group of storm troopers across a room with a force push.

Honestly if you dont like a console then just...dont play it? I dont like the xbox controls because my fingers keep spazzing out and i cant understand how to get them to do what i want. but you dont hear people like me whining about it and saying its a bad thing.

In shorts, the author = whining little loser.
