Besides time travel results in contradictions. If someone goes back in time to stop Hitler from rising to power, the time traveler would never have heard of Hitler so he would have never gone back in time to stop him from rising to power. So then Hitler would rise to power so the time traveler would go back in time to stop him. So Hitler both would and would not rise to power, and the time traveler both would and would not have prevented him from coming to power, which is absurd.Another one:
There's no evidence that free will exists. It's an illusion, because everything in the Universe is bound by the laws of physics - even chemistry in your own brain. We experience decision making every day of our lives, if that isn't evidence for freewill, what is?

I was trying to imply that both of them can sound pointless when bathed in a certain light.C95J said:SheleKnights said:Kimarous said:Whenever you use a computer, you are simply observing a pattern of lights and sounds. When you use a keyboard, you are just pushing buttons to make the pattern of lights and sounds more favorable. Now think about how much time you've spent on your computer. You now realize that books are simply dried pulp laid into sheets, with generic, repeating characters printed on them using fluids. How many hours have you spent reading books? Its not just the patterns, fluids, lights or character, its what those characters mean when placed in a certain order, the human brain takes note of this and gives out messages explaining what they mean through pictures that you have seen or other words you have learnt throughout your life.
These words that once meant nothing to you, but strangely can be imprinted in your mind due to what you have learnt over the years of your young life. If you got taught these words, or different words in a completely different order, with completely different associations, only then would they mean nothing and be jumbled.
This also applies to everything we see, hear, touch, smell and taste.
But, what IS the question? wait, don't answer that. haven't finished the fourth book yet.enriel said:The answer to THE QUESTION OF life the universe and everything.Jekken6 said:The answer to life, the universe and everything is

The rest don't want to get into it because they realise there are arguments for or against and they don't feel like they can sit on the fence but they don't want to be one or the other either. This is why people will take in all arguiments which agree with their view and ignore all others, because they can't handle the fact that they might be wrong and don't consider that there might be some middle ground. Also, people often make the assumption that if you believe something, especially if you went to uni or something on the subject, then if you can't answer something, your entire concept is false. The notion that the middle-road is by default the correct one is actually a logical fallacy (as is the idea that there being two possible options means the odds are 50-50).
lol now i will think differently about thingsSewblon said:You have to spoiler tag it. People must choose to know the truth.Swollen Goat said:How about a picture instead?

Not totally.enriel said:And really,
Either time travel is impossible or the many universes theory is correct, because if time travel were possible, we'd already know, because time travelers would already have come back and proved it.
It's a silly thing to argue about.

That's just your understanding of time. What if a new reality is created every-time you changed a point in history?
So you would travel back in time and stop Hitler like you said, then a new reality where WWII never happened is created and our reality continues. You don't know enough about this theoretical process to claim absolutes. For all you know Thermodynamics might not even apply to the bending of time.
