<a href=http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2011/03/03/dragon-age-2-dlc-announced/1>New Exiled Prince DLC for Dragon Age.

DLC that just unlocks content already on the disc is aggravating to no end but at least they wait until the game is out to sell you what you already have, now they are trying to get more money from you before they have the money from the game! Why isn't this being released like they did with the Shale DLC or at least waiting until people have the game?

There is no way I would buy this on principal alone. Anyone else think that way or do you not mind paying more money for this?

EDIT: This is apparently just them announcing the price of the preorder bonus dlc for those that didn't preorder. I fail at the internet :(

I hate buying DLC for Dragon Age. I know it's pretty decent, but the fact is that I don't want to buy something that will last me like only 2 hours, even if it is only 5$ (Return to Ostagar for example).

The fact that they announced Exiled Prince (this is kinda old news) like a month before the game comes out pisses me off.

I miss expansion packs (I did buy Awakening in DA, I thought it was pretty good)

I couldon't agree more, and there's also the Marvel Vs Capcom 3 "secret" character dlc which was announced long before the game came out. I think those are on the disk too.

The sad thing is, that, potentally, dlc can be great, like the dlc for fallout 3, which was released a time after the game came out, contained genuinley new content, and, if I rember correctly, was not hideousoly overpriced, unlike the vast majority of dlc which is just used as a way to bump up the cost of an allready pricey game to over £50 (which, in England, is a lot).

This is also why game developers have not right to complain about the sale of used games.

Dead Space 2 Severed was a huge piece of garbage. Witch Hunt was a pretty bad DLC, the worst since Horse Armor. If the Exiled Prince works like Kasumi and Zaeed from ME2, I will have a problem.

The DLC is on the disc already because the code to unlock it for free comes with early pre-ordered/limited edition versions of the game, the cost of it is to punish people who either buy late or used, which is very common practice among companies recently due to their war on used games thing.

It's a shame that they do it, but that's just the way things work now.

Didn't they come free if you bought the game new? What's the problem there?

Yeah, but you couldn't actually converse with them on your ship. They'll just say a quip every time you speak to them.

Couldn't have the same types of conversations with them, also, Kasumi was not free. Don't even get me started on the weapon packs and alternate costume dlc.

I've known about this for ages. There was even a trailer for this a couple months ago. Those who got the signature edition(pre-ordered before January 11th) get it for free.

Which I think is stupid. What the fuck happened to Project $10 EA? You know, where something like this would be given away for free just like Shale?

As for DLC on the disk, well thats not DLC. Thats just content they completed and locked you out of because they're trying to get as much money out of people as possible and are doing it in all the wrong damn ways.

But what really pisses me off is Dragon Age 2's DRM. In short, its just like Spore's DRM system. It requires you to log onto the internet during installation, then it requires an occasional authentication through the internet otherwise it will uninstall itself. Just fucking unbelievable. You'd figure EA would learn after Spore. I should have known better than to think that they're that smart.

I thought that was a different DLC? If this is just them announcing that you can buy the preoreder bonus then disregard this thread and I am fail.

That was a shame, there was a lot of potential for conversation there. Even if just to listen to the nice sounding voice actors they had. I did enjoy hearing them talk about the stuff they had though.

The same one that was released months after the game was out? How is that any different to other DLC that you have to pay for?

In my opinion, almost all paid-for DLC is asinine. It's a curse upon modern gaming.
Because...extra content for games is...bad?

What about, for example, Oblivion's Shivering Isles DLC? That was incredibly long and detailed.

Fallout 3's Point Lookout? New Vegas' Dead Money?

How are these a curse upon modern gaming?

At the end of the day the only difference between Shale and Mr Price is that you had to wait for one to download

I think you're confusing Expansion Packs with DLC. Expansion Packs generally speaking can be sold separately on their own on discs, DLC can't. Now, I wouldn't say *all* DLC is bad, but the only DLC I can think of that is *really good* was the GTA IV DLC.

You mean the GTA IV DLC that's currently being sold on it's own disc? [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Episodes_From_Liberty_City]

I'm with ya. DLC is fine. When it is content already on the disk , though, they are ripping us off. Isn't he only free for people who pre-order? I think that is why I didn't pre-order the game. If I pre-order your game, it means you have my faith and interest in your product. I will not be goaded into pre-ordering your product.

They aren't individually available on disc. Shivering Isles [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oblivion-Shivering-Isles-PC-DVD/dp/B000NJLQQA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1299281467&sr=8-1] is available, on it's own, on a disk. If you want The Ballad of Gay Tony on disc, you have to buy The Lost and the Damned as well. That's the difference.

Isn't that a really arbitrary distinction? It's Content you Download.

OT: You don't just get the mission you get that character for the whole game. Every interaction, every spoken line, their complete story, their reactions and beliefs. They don't suddenly vanish into the ether afterwards. Anyway I preordered the Signature Edition so... yeah.

I like DLC simply to add new things to the game, maybe 2-3 months down the line to keep things fresh.

Not this bullshitery "buy half our game at full price, then buy the rest for £15."

Which annoyed me greatly. I wanted to put the moves on Kaisumi, as the options for male players are a stuck up rich girl who looks like Michel Jackson, a character who was designed to feel like a little sister, making it creepy, and an irredeemable monster.

Funny. You managed to pick three of the pieces of DLC which I think are the most wasteful of money. You see, I don't have a credit card or an appropriate way to purchase things over the internet, so Bethesda left me with a crippled game in Fallout 3 and a game with incomplete content in Dead Money. Given that I purchased Fallout 3 on the friggin' release date, setting me back ?50, I was not happy to discover that if I wanted to get rid of the shitty ending, I'd have to spend further money.

So, yeah: Asinine is the word.
Could you explain that further? I really don't follow what you're saying.

The only difference is one has two things on a disc whilst the other only has one? You don't find that a little...wishy washy? It isn't exactly the most secure sounding of arguments.

What about the Fallout 3 DLC? I'm fairly certain that you can't buy those on individual discs. How about the Borderlands DLC?

When has that ever happened? It certainly isn't happening here now.
