DLC that just unlocks content already on the disc is aggravating to no end but at least they wait until the game is out to sell you what you already have, now they are trying to get more money from you before they have the money from the game! Why isn't this being released like they did with the Shale DLC or at least waiting until people have the game?

There is no way I would buy this on principal alone. Anyone else think that way or do you not mind paying more money for this?
It's free if you buy the game new. What's the problem exactly?
Actually no it isn't. It's only if you preordered before January 11th I think. The free thing that comes with the game is different.

The only difference is one has two things on a disc whilst the other only has one? You don't find that a little...wishy washy? It isn't exactly the most secure sounding of arguments.

What about the Fallout 3 DLC? I'm fairly certain that you can't buy those on individual discs. How about the Borderlands DLC?
You answered your own question there.

The fundamental difference between DLC and Expansion Packs is essentually the latter is bigger than the former. That said, I'd imagine the combined total extra content in the Fallout 3 DLC would be roughly equivalent to one expansion pack, say Shivering Isles, in terms of content and additional game time.

Expansion Packs are uncontroversial because nobody attempted any of the "pre-order or lose content" or "lock away content for money" shenanigans that DLC has made possible.

Yes. That was kind of the idea. Downloadable content is downloadable content, I'm not the one taking issues with that.

All you have to do is get the Signature Edition which is standard with pre orders everywhere and will be on shelves as regular retail for a few months. Just like Dragon Age Origins.
...if this was before the 11th January, you would be right. However, any copy bought or pre-ordered after the 11th January will NOT be a Signature Edition, and therefore will NOT include this DLC.

If its like other Bioware DLC it will fit in to the main story arc as well as a rhino in a breadbox. They need to go ahead and start releasing their games episodically, as they are 80% of the way there with monthly packs that offer no content.

I hear ya. I preordered mine from Gamestop a little over a week ago though and it's the Signature Edition. As stated on my current reservations on the poweruprewards website as well as the receipt I just checked in my wallet.
Don't come crying to me when you get a standard edition, then.

Meh, I've had Dragon Age 2 pre-ordered since November 10th, so my Signature Edition will come with all of that free, and activated with packaged codes already.

Gotta catch the deals when they are made evident, in the end. *Shrug*
