[quote="A random person" post="18.128961.2780907Swedes, what is it like living in your socialist system of government? Is it good? Horribly oppressive like the republicans are making it out to be? Also to you and Canadians, what's your experience with the government healthcare? Is it a bureaucratic nightmare like the anti-government healthcare people here are saying it is?

Sorry for the double post, but we have public healthcare in the UK too, and it does get a lot of bad press, but it's not that bad. The problem with it is that it is over-used, because people (MOST OF THEM ARE FUCKING RETARDS) go to the hospital instead of the doctor or a pharmacist when they get a headache, or a graze on their knee or something really minor like that. Basically, this results in the queues being really big, so sometimes you have to wait like 3-6 hours before you are seen by a doctor. Also, there have been reports of diseases like MRSA spreading really badly in hospitals, partly due to what is considered a lack of attention by the staff, but is more likely to be a simple case of understaffing (which may or may not be a direct result of the fact that they won't employ enough people, and won't pay them enough so a lot of people choose to work in the more lucrative private healthcare sector). The private hospitals are, generally, exceptionally good as far as my experience of them goes. However, they are outlandishly expensive in most cases.
