Do you have key indicators that determine who gets more hours, like if you work in electronics, how many accessories you sell, or do you guys not have to suffer that torture?
Hours are determined by your own availability, the shift you work and how busy the store should be at certain hours. Productivity has no bearing on how many hours you are scheduled.

You miss the point of the "Ask a" threads. These threads serve for the escapists to ask questions to strange or unusual individuals about what they do. Being a Wal-Mart worker is not strange or unusual.

What's the point in making a thread entitled "Ask the average joe"? None.
This man speaks the truth!

All preventable if a Union was present. As for the moving in and shucking a town, that is unfortunately legal. No law specifically restricting it. A town I know that is suffering it is Port Angeles, Washington. I am done, but don't let the smiley fool ya people.
Wal-Mart tried the whole union thing in Canada, and it didn't work. Labor unions are a business, they are there to make money. They really don't do squat in taking care of their employees, I've had experience with both union and non-union labor, and the unionized labor is a load of shit.

Years ago where I worked once the employees were not unionized. Once the union came in the overall wages of new employees went down, most workers were forced into being part time and never doing over 36 hours a week (seriously it was always just around 36 hours a week). The only thing labor unions try to do is make sure companies follow local labor laws. The only difference in your 3 cases had there been a labor union is the union would brand its logo on the lawsuit and end up making a ton of cash if the union wins.

Oh no, not the return of the "Ask A" threads. But seriously the thread about the boy and the Madden game got me thinking. I've been with Wal-Mart over 6 years and have done literally almost every job in the store from cleaning bathrooms to apprehending thieves to managing. I promise I won't sugar-coat my answers (I have seen the absolute best and the absolute worst that this company can be). Please don't use this as a Wal-Mart bashing thread as that is just annoying and gets you nowhere.

So, ask away.
so wat do u guys think about unions?

Have you ever hidden in a clothing rack, and when somebody walked by, shouted in a squeaky high voice "pick me! pick me!"?

That would be awesome.
My question would be. Why is Walmart always so loud and crowded? I went there one time and it was unbearable.
Because it is a busy business

No, but I have put a turkey decoy on my head and duckwalked through apparel making turkey sounds. Scared the hell out of one of the managers.
