Assassin's Creed was far too repetitive.

Assassin's Creed was far too repetitive.

Assassin's Creed was far too repetitive.

Assassin's Creed was far too repetitive.

Assassin's Creed was far too repetitive.

Let's hope they fix that element.

they succeeded in a mechanic and concept of the game in AC and the future story was pretty cool so i think as long as we do not have to fight gunners or there is a mix of future/ past missions it should be good. The complaints of repetitiveness are bound to be fixed but also what else i can think of to put in this game is minimal. The way the missions are done and the complexity and planning they require should be more improved that is about all because everything an assassin does you basically already do.

OR EVEN BETTER

THE BEST APRIL FOOLS GAME TRAILER EVER
Assasins creed/ MGS4 in one game watch the video if you havn't. It would be awsome.

on another note....

did any of you realize no matter what you did the public did not care the only thing to back up the claims of citizens helping or hindering you is if you save citizens you get help but you are never hindered only by guards and damn drunks.

for the record godsmack are a decent band and i dont think them being added into the soundtrack of POP2 changed the way we all thought about the game. correct me if im wrong but if ubisoft keep AC heading in the direction they are going you will probable end up playing in the present day possible in the future my guess 2015, this will f**k the game up completly imagine you just assassinated a important character and you attempt to escape using the near by building, this worked well in AC because the AI would have to follow you im presuming that in the future guns havn't been outlawed so all the AI have to do is point their gun at you and your f**ked. not to mention if you get a gun then it will just turn into another shooter only you would have bugger all health. i liked AC I thought it lived up to the hype with relativly few gameplay issues sure it could use improvment but what couldn't, the only reason i will be buying AC2 is to see what happens as i found the story quite compeling, all in all if you are going to by this game dont have a high expectation for it as you will be extremly pissed off.

And that, my fellow escapist members, is the most optimistic this you will read today.

After all everything must turn to shit one day.

Lol sorry. I don't think they will turn the game into a shooter and if they have it in the future n reason why they cant do a FF and use swords over guns.

The ending was kind of cool. However the game was fun, but still a let down. Not stealthy enough, and theres only one difficulty level, so when you master the combat, theres no incentive to do anything at all socially acceptable, because you can just kill all the guards. Campaign was too linear, and the "investigations" where just so damn boring. Still, don't get me wrong, its a helluva lot of fun to play. If they do make a sequel, I hope they don't rush it out to release, and I also hope it is in a ancient or medieval setting again, no modern day shit...

Well said. I'm playing it through on my first time and just performed my fourth hit last night. I really like the game, except I know that there's two ways I can enjoy the experience:

1.) Rush to get the assassination done as quickly as possible by doing my two investigations, going to the bureau, sprinting to the person I must assassinate, killing them and returning to the bureau
2.) Play the game slowly, do more than just two investigations, save all civilians in the area, and enjoy the historically accurate cities the game has to offer.

There's no incentive for playing it via method #2. Why am I saving civilians? Why am I doing more than two investigations? It would be nice if doing the minimum number of investigations made the assassinations more difficult, and the mores investigations you do, the easier the assassination becomes.

The game has potential.. but things like only four methods to escape guards and being able to kill EVERYONE after mastering the combat system really subtract from the element.

For some reason I am loving the future story tying in with the past. I enjoy playing the historic game and then being tossed into the future, wondering the same questions Desmond is asking.

As much as i loved ac... there are some things that could use a change. As for setting, considering all the refrences to Yonaguni, a small, sunken Japanese inland as well as Emporer Jiajing (China) and Astecs, i think it is a pretty safe bet that it will take place in the past. If you want to read more into the ending here: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=175552

Very much looking forward to the sequel, even if they only make it "as good" as AC1.

Predictions:

The main bulk of the game will be within the animus (or a different animus). Still with desmond as the protagonist, but reliving a different ancestor. Remember that Altair's storyline is by no means finished.

- What did he do with the piece of eden?
- He must have children at some point
- How will he lead the assassins?

Now lets factor in the stuff on the walls at the end of the first game. We have the possible settings of:

- Japan
- Egypt
- South America

with Japan seeming the most likely (see the linked article above) this would point to us playing as some kind of ninja / samurai. I think altair would have some connection with them, perhaps Altair appears as an old man in the second game?

While i said i didn't think there would be any futuristic free-running, there is the evidence of "memory bleeding" whereby Desmond has acquired Altair's eagle vision ability. Could Desmond get more abilities from Altair or his other ancestors perhaps?

I hope that they make the present day portions of the game about exploration and puzzle solving, like the first one. Finding the passwords on computers and examining my claustrophobic surrounds was what made the real-life bits enjoyable.

I completely agree with swenglish, that would be a great idea for a second game. Now we know it's gonna be a trilogy, so would it be a stretch to imagine that for the second game the main character will be played as subject sixteen? Think about it, we know nothing about the guy, and this would be a great way of keeping suspension for the third game, (considering that the third game would chronologically come after the first, keeping the great cliffhanger from the end of the first game). Considering that there is so much reference to japan, (the japanese writing, the reference to the western most island yonaguni, and the reference to the emporer jiajing,)
"Within Emperor Jiajing' sin and Quetzcoaltz's hunger lies the Answers." (quote from the bloodstained wall in the end of the AC) jiajing ruled from 1521 to 1567 a likely setting of the next game, jianjing was not kind (jiajing's sin) and built the sun temple (maybe a peice of eden inside? also there is the whole thing of the theme of the two rooms being the sun). Also the references to southern america, mayan temples, nazca lines, quetzcoaltz (misspelled god of the aztec sky who's "hunger" might refer to the regular animal sacrifices for him)

This is just a slight probability, but I think that the next game will be a prequal of some kind and that it will involve japan, south america or both and I think that if it isn't that or swenglishe's idea and ubisoft decides to cock the whole thing up by setting it entirely in the present, (which is unlikely considering how much everyone's been whining and how much we both know it would ruin the whole gameplay) it will prove that the whole team at ubisoft either can't read or are too deaf, dumb or stupid to see past their own sheer idiocy.

does anyone know when the next installment will come out and if it is for the 360 or not, (if it turns out to be exclusively for the PS3 I will sell both my kidneys in order to pay for that overpriced filth). Oh and I'm kind of pissed at Yahtzee for crucifying this game and making it out to be bad when in all honesty, it's one of the best games I've played for the 360. I hate how most games start out really good and then the sequel sucks and it not only snuffs out all the potential it had, but ruins both the experience and the storyline (yes I'm looking at you condemned).

EDIT: Sorry wrong thread - but, while I'm here, I'd like to still contribute

Don't make games with sequels in mind, before you've finished the first..

Kthxbye!

ok guys this is rediculous. i agree with a lot of the comments here, but saying AC2 couldnt be set in the future is rediculous. mirrors edge (see mirrors edge thread) is Assasins creed set in the future it it looks fucking Hot! additionally i think ubisoft is sorta screwed cause it looks like EA took everything great about AC i.e. freerunning, and made it its own game. and its set in the future. it can be done, at it will ROCK hopefully. i do love the assasination ideas from AC but it doesnt belong in mirrors edge.

now splinter cell, that would be a fucking brilliant addtion to splinter cell conviction. i agree with something stated previously that they should merge the storylines, cuz that would be beautiful. imagine going in, as stealthy as possible, raising no alarms using all your cunning and gadgetry, to get past the gaurds, spying and being generally hella sneaky, ala sam fisher, then assasinating some leader and go Altair style and running the hell outa there, with alarms blaring, twenty guys with swords, stun sticks or w/e they use to fix the gun problem and freerunning out hopping walls, dogdging guys, running up walls etc. that would be fucking EPIC!!!!

well I looked on the site and it says that the team that worked on AC1 is now working on the prince of persia game. So no one knows if that means its gonna be better or worse, no one knows whos gonna work on it. and to an extent I do agree with josh797, just because its modern doesn't automatically mean skyscrapers, and can u imagine how much more of a twist it would be with vehicles and such? say ur getting chased down a street and u see a garbage truck or something that's driving by, u could like get on top of it and just ride it. Hell, trucks and garbage trucks could replace scholars, vigilantes could replace ...vigilantes, guns could replace bow and arrows, batons could replace swords, (okay seeing alair with a baton/stick would sort of suck ass) I'm just saying that josh has swayed my opinion, just because it's modern doesn't mean it automatically sucks.

I'm not sure about the 16th Century idea...

I think it will be still in the same time period, as Altair hides the original orb (Apple of Eden? Can't remember the name)and maybe more of them.

That would allow Altair to travel the world as well

But honestly, as long as the plot is good, whatever.

I mean, I know AC was repetitive, but I loved the plot (and yeah, even the Sci-Fi bit too) so much I didn't even notice

Assasins Creed was a much loved game for me but it did have its flaws.
1 - I felt it was to short
2 - The fighting system got to repetetive

The second one should atleast include other assasination missions after the main story line has been completed, as to add extra hours to gameplay time. Ye, it may be a bit futile to add that kind of thing but its something to keep you interested in the game after completion.

Maybe they could make it less repetitive and boring. I was over this game after the first hour.

Actually, he said he liked it

He found problems in it, yes, but he finds problems with every game. Don't take it as an insult.
