August is my favorite time of the year. Why? Well, historically it was when the big family summer trips happened as it was the month my Mother got her holidays. Now that I'm older I don't get to go on the trips, I get to work. I still enjoy the month though as it is the hottest and driest month on average here where I live. Makes diving into a lake or swimming pool far more refreshing.

So Escapists, what's your favorite month? And why?

[sub][sub]Also I joined this site in August but that is just pure coincidence.[/sub][/sub]

December. Sure the weather is cold and going out generally sucks balls no matter where, but it's the time of year I usually get to relax and hang out with family.

I like December too, though I also like October. I usually cool down during those months(metaphorically speaking, but also physically, for obvious reasons).

Unfortunately, August has been a less happy time of year for me. Six years ago today, I lost a dog that I'd had for over a decade, and a couple weeks from now will be the anniversary of my last living grandma's death. She was a mentor of sorts to me, so I tend not to be too happy around this time of year. Especially since her last gift to me got trashed two years ago. My first car. Totaled.

October: I love rain, and I love coldness and I love Halloween.
Haven't properly done Halloween in ages, though, mostly for kids, we threw a Halloween party a few years ago for my little brother and my niece and nephews and it was great. I'm a big kid about Halloween.

Because nothing happens in January,
no birthdays, no major gift buying holidays and it's slow at work. I can relax in January.

September. Warm days, cool nights, that crisp, clear smell of change. You really can feel the energy, it comes off kids and parents (and everyone else) in waves. Traditionally it's nearing harvest time, too, so I guess that genetic history kicks in and puts you in higher gear as well. Love it - I can't wait for it every year, even if it means winter is right around the corner.

November. My birthday is in it, everything has just about finished dying in nature and everything looks beautiful. It's also not too cold and is awesome weather for running, and it sounds cool. Plus lots of people make good songs about the month.

But... my birthday is in January...

I think fall is my favorite time of year, though I can't really pick a specific month because our weather is so schizophrenic here that it could be ninety degrees one week in October, and snowing by Halloween.

Oh no... I've forgot your birthday?
But.... but I try so hard to remember... how is this possible?

My brain has the unique ability to remember the birthdays of everyone everywhere ever.
This can only mean one thing...

December. I like the cold. Mainly because if it's too cold, I can do something about it. If it's too hot, there's only so many clothes I can take off before it is socially unacceptable.

April (or maybe May), everything's done no more birthdays, holidays, what have you. And there's still a chance there will be a summer, by June it's generally clear we're heading for 10 months of autumn again...

October by far. There is absolutely nothing better than that time of year. I love the colors of leaves, I love the smell of the air when I walk out of my house. I love the temperature. Cold enough for a sweater but warm enough that my hands don't freeze off. It's also the time of year that has the best seasonal foods. Hot cider, pumpkin pie, apple pie. I love it. My most recent really specific fond memory of fall was doing this little hay ride with my girlfriend last October. It was like a little kids thing that had the stops at the "witches house" and stuff but it was amazing for me. Really late at night at like 8:30 or 9. So yeah I love October.

I like July, I like the really light nights, walking around at 10pm and it's still really bright outside. But, I don't like the heat when we actually get it.

I also like December/January, I like the short nights, being dark and street lights on by 4.30pm and being warm inside.

I think I could find a positive for every month... except February, fuck that month.

I'll say September. I haven't been able to enjoy my summers ever since I started university. Spring in Canada is just snow/mud for a long while.

When university starts, it's nice to see some friends you didn't see during summer. It's not so freaking hot, but the weather is just nice. People make some nice parties. Best part is no goddamn papers or exams you need to rush because of "X number" of deadlines. You can also take some time to start papers early and be more prepared.

I would like to add October/November/December for parties and Christmas video game lineup, but it's always at the same time of the "university rush".

If you don't like February, it's a short month. That's a positive right?

October is amazing.

There's an Oktoberfest near me that's really fun that lasts for two weekends, and has so much beer available for cheap. :D

The most I've ever done with Halloween is just watch horror movies and play horrors games all day. I've been dragged to a couple haunted mansions, but they're either lame or my friend has come close to ripping my arm off.

February. Over half of my family has a birthday in February so it is a time of merriment and good tidings.

Captcha: once again (seems like it comes every year or something...)

October is always a lot of fun. I LOVE Halloween. Plus it is the one time of year where I have an excuse to get hammered and eat lots of candy.

November. Everyone's got pre-Christmas anticipation, and the weather's chilly so you might even be in the chance of snow. There are no tourists in London, rarely any exams needing doing and it's a great time for new releases.
It's an expensive month though - my girlfriend's birthday and our anniversary are in that same month.
