I'm not going to respond to every point you made in your rambling, but I'll respond to a few. You can't say xenophobic statements and broad, sweeping generalisations and then be offended when somebody calls you out on your racist crap. It's easy to look at it like "they can try to change their nation and possibly die, or leave and possibly die", but these people don't want to die. They want to survive, and they want their families to survive. I don't see how you can't understand that.Angerwing said:
See, there you go again. You called me a "Xenophobe" then you decided to end off your post by calling me "Insane". As I told you right off the bat, if you want me to take you seriously or even consider what you have to say, don't call me (or imply) I'm a racist (I consider "Xenophobe" akin to the same thing), ever. I'm not and really if your that far off kilter in the discussion to even know what I'm talking about or stand for, then we really have nothing to discuss. Combine that with your comments about how the thread isn't about the US (??Really?? I mean I thought the title just said Australia for lulz) which means you seem to have kind of missed the points being made and why the US has been mentioned (and also HOW it's been mentioned, even though I'm not a great writer, and might have made a mistake, I don't believe I ever called Australia the US) really seems like your trying to be more of a trouble maker, and are using your points more as an attempt reinforce attacks than to actually discuss anything. One of the big reasons I ignore so many "points" in other debates by the way (for those who pay attention).
That said it's interesting that your parents are in government, and maintain liberal sentiments and all, but the bottom line is Australia still did this and it has a lot of support. A lot of my comments about the US are simply to make the point that a lot of Australians probably don't want their country to wind up like the US. Sure your financially stronger than we are, we were financially stronger than almost anyone at one time ourselves, then we let liberals in government dictate policy and well... here we are. It's not surprising a lot of people around the world don't want to follow the same course of letting immigrants into the country willy nilly.
Your final interesting point pretty much comes down to you saying "I know more about Muslims than you" to which I'm basically going to say "do not" and your going to say "do too" and at that point why bother. At the end of the day you trust your sources and what you want to believe, I believe mine. That's going to lead into arguments about US intelligence and Homeland Security Vs. what other nations say, which then turns into a matter of how much of that information is tainted by political agenda (either way). I also notice you entirely sidestep the entire issue of "Black Islam" as well, some time if you get bored look up the stuff I told you, and then check the membership numbers of some of those groups... "Nation Of Thisslam" for example is pretty bloody big.
But that said, I'm done with this thread even though others might want to draw me in. It's getting too nasty and I've said what I wanted to say, people will either read it, or they won't, and I can't change everyone's opinions especially on The Internet. In the future if you want to debate with me, don't engage in direct insults, especially those kinds of insults. I might occasionally get curt, especially as new people jump in within reading the entire conversation (really some kind of internet policy similar to the "5 minute rule" in real life should apply... at least as common courtesy), but I do not flame anyone directly, ever, no matter how strongly I disagree with them. The worst I'll generally do is exude a "passive aggressive attitude" as some people have put it, and usually not even that since that's mostly people reading into things when I'm debating between two and four people at a time in a lot of cases, and dealing with people themselves acting "shocked" that out there is someone who doesn't agree with a lot of things they take for given and assume are undisputed facts. For that I sort of blame the media for presenting certain points of view as being a lot more pervasive than they actually are... but well, that's another discussion entirely.
