Okay, I have an honest question.

Why can't Aussies just order games from say, Ebay or Amazon.com if they can't buy them in Australia?
Well if it's banned in their country, I assume it's illegal.
Label as gift.

It's illegal to import material into Australia that has been refused classification. You could be fined for it, although generally they'll likely just confiscate it.

I hope it isn't changed, slowly eroding the MA15+ restriction until it includes everything isn't a solution. It isn't up to the classifications board to decide on the issue, it's up to the states to appoint people who can be mature enough to uphold Australian laws and beliefs. That Atkinson found a loophole (he's stated in the past he doesn't like R18+ movies too, he just can't do anything about it) is disgusting, the Australian people just need to make more of a fuss about it than they already do.

Personally, I'm looking forward to a strong freedom of speech party starting up in South Australia. If the South Australian government can see that it's costing them votes having Atkinson there, he'll quietly be given a new portfolio and the new guy will be more reasonable.

Not everyone has a credit card.
Not everyone trusts ordering things from the internet.

As other posts say, it is also illegal to import something that has effectively been banned in Australia. The chances of getting caught are very, very low, but not everyone is willing to take the risk.
If the review fails, I'll be getting an overseas friend to send me a copy.

The Australian government's failure to realize that there is a whole generation of gamers that are of voting age will bite them in the polls. And our numbers grow every year.

Am I the only one who thinks this is just an excuse for Michael Atkinson to once again openly insult a segment of his country's population?

It's nice to hear but pointless, If games like Fallout 3 and L4D2 have to be censored there's no way AvP will get through in its current version, It's extremely violent(which I don't hate). So in the end this is still Michael Atkinson's fault.

I wonder what argument they put forth to warrent a review of the decision. Something would have had to have changed.

We can and have done so on many occasions, L4D2 anyone? But it is illegal and if caught the fines are ridiculously severe. Havent been caught yet and don't intend to but seriously what's worse this (importing awesome games) or piracy? (video games and or otherwise)

I'm Australian and I seriously hope Rebellion keeps their promise.
Our Government is sooo old, its times like these that i wished the Australian Marijuana Party had 500 members. At least they wouldn't fuck with games

Well, at the very least this will give Rebellion another excuse to make an underhanded insult to the Australian government. I don't think they'll back down, they're too nerdy for that.

I really hope Rebellion sticks to their guns on this one. Atkinson and company need to learn that not everyone will bend over for them. It's worth losing some of Australia's sales to make that point, I think.

Aliens vs Predators really is the perfect game to either push Australia into "R" gaming, or completely shun it for another few years.

I mean the game is a lot more violent then others. Dead Space dismemberment deaths were one thing, but in AvP, I have seen game footage of the Predator lifting a guy up by the neck, shoving his wolverine claws through his skull, then tearing his face off. (all in first person perspective)
O_O I've got to start googling gameply footage of AvP.
