So, on the Liberal side, we get:
WorkChoices
Scraped NBN
I don't believe in climate change (oh wait, lets back flip on that about a million times)
Women belong in the kitchen
R18+ rating

On the Labor side, we get:
NBN
Filter which will get blocked in parliament
Slightly less retarded immigration policy (hopefully)
Less retarded climate change stance

Guess who I'm voting for?

(P.S. It's Greens with a Labor preference)

Lets see,

We may get an R18+ Rating..... but then,

We loose the NBN (National Broadband Network)
High probability of him bringing in Work-choices.

Sorry, not buying the bait.
Not to mention what he'd do to women's rights.
Don't get me started on what this guy wants to do once in office. Is it me or does he have an almost religious type view on where politics should go?

I'm afraid with all the vague information, 'Look at R18+' ratings will probably equate to "make it even worse" in his terms. None of it matters anyway, the man is completely unelectable.

Let's put this in perspective, folks.

Abbott was asked a question during the 'town hall' meeting from a gamer about the R18+ rating.

Knowing nothing about the debate, his *first impression* was that it was 'silly' not to have one. This does NOT constitute a political promise of any kind. The guy hadn't even heard of the issue before, let alone have any understanding of it. His stance on the NBN reveals how well he understands technological issues as well: i.e. not at all.

Abbott has a nasty habit of acting out of his religious biases, and given the Australian Christian Lobby's stance on this issue, I'd say there's a snowball's chance in hell of him supporting a R18+ rating.

But as others have pointed out, even if he was in support, it's not up to him.

Even if it sounds good, he's still a politician. Politicians always serve themselves first, no matter what. They just go the direction they believe will help them the most.
Plus, saying something and doing something are two completely different things.

Yeah... Funny you should say that, I had the exact same feeling. I'd put my vote elsewhere simply to keep Religion and Politics separate.

Abbot, the leader of the opposition party in Australia's parliament said at a public forum in Sydney last night that he would be happy to look at an adult rating for videogames if his party came to power. Abbot's comments were in response to a question asking whether the Liberal/National coalition had any policies regarding the issue.
Was he reading from a policy statement? Cos we know he's lying if not

Yeah, I'd vote Greens over Abbott at the moment, just because of that. We have separation of the church and state for a reason and I'd hate to see us go old testament for the next four years. That being said, Abbott still is a no for me just because most of the big points he makes against the ALP are flawed in itself if you don't know the statistics too well.

The guy is making me think twice, but it'll take more than that to make me give him my vote

does that mean i will end up losing my 700 ping on aussie servers and get a 7000 ping? by that math? holy shit.
Well, first of all the effect on international gaming servers will be minimal/non-existent as far as ping goes, I'll assume you're talking about WoW, and your ping is bottlenecked by the distance regardless of how fast your internet is, it would be more reliable though. Also I meant x10 slower than the NBN (100 mb/s), not your current internet.

I wouldn't trust Tony Abbot as far as i could throw him. And considering his stance on other computer related issues i trust him even less on this.
