So you are concerned that he'll be let off in the English courts (unlikely since he's comfessed to the crime - it's more likely his condition will be taken into consideration and he'd escape incarcaration, but not punishment) but don't care if the American system daemonises him and gives him maximum sentence - far more than his crime deserves - for the purpose of public deterrant (aka making him a scapegoat)? Wow, that's harsh.
As for the French - they don't like you so much any more after the whole "french fries > freedom fries campaign and other Iraq war disagreements. They'd most likely root for us, then declare war on the spoils of victory
Damn, and here I was about to lay into the whole "arrest date" thing since it didn't at first show it to me in my "you've been quoted" message.

out: Ah well. Anyway.
His condition really depends on its severity. I've spoken to quite a few individuals about this over the last couple weeks who are either AS themselves or have close friends who are and they've stated (to me at least) that his AS had little if anything to do with the situation. He knew what he was doing was wrong and had ample willpower to stop. The part that clinched it for them was the fact that he did so over the course of a year. Granted I can't prove any of this since it was random co-workers and close friends of mine who I spoke to, but that's good enough for me.
Yes I do have an issue with him getting off with only a slap on the wrist. It was a fairly major crime (as it was a fairly major failing of the US gov's to even allow it to happen) but that doesn't mean that he should be allowed to get away with it. I don't want him to get put away for the maximum sentence and I highly doubt that he ever would. Juries here in the States don't give out maximum sentences to every Tom, Dick and Harry that strolles in. I do believe there can be
too much compassion for individuals. People need to be held accountable for their actions, plain and simple. Now, if it can be shown that he will get a fitting punishment for the crime, as if he had say, broken into England's computer system instead of the States', then I'll be satisfied. Individuals tend to be much more lenient when something hasn't happened in their own backyard.
Concerning the French, um, um, um... damnit, give me a sec, I'll come up with something. Well, they're still called french fries here! So we're all good, right guys? Right? :crickets: Well sh*t. :walks away pouting and yells back:
WE STILL HAVE BIG GUNS! [sub]and those flying saucers! *twitch*[/sub]
