but there was closure... how can you add on a sequel unless you give a retarded plot point to do so?
There was closure in Alien and the Terminator, and those sequels turned out ok, in the hands of James Cameron no less. Actually, I'd say they managed to surpass the originals in just about every way, and in a much more enclosed universe than Avatar, as well. Rest assured Avatar has plenty of potential for sequels.

No. No. No.

Avatar 1 was a boring, insultingly predictable, derivative crapfest saved only by excellent visuals and above average performances. It also had a proper ending. It doesn't need a fucking sequel, Cameron! Lay it to rest and fuck off and do Jean Michel Cousteu's job for another fucking decade! Then come back with a GOOD movie! Just can the idea right now. Please?

Now if you'll excuse me... I'm heading for the hills before the Avatar worshipers come to castrate me.

It'll be good, and anyone who does not see sequel opportunities in Avatar need their heads examined.

There are many Navi Tribes...they're not peaceful, or else they'd not need massive warbows, or warriors. There are many many humans, and unobtanium is incredibly valuable...

There's loads of stuff to make movies about.

Hmm. Well considering how I'm sick of Avatar 1 without having ever seen it(that's right, everyone shut the fuck up about it) this has little effect on me. I'm certain this will also get hyped up out of all proportion and any interest I would've had will dwindle away as more and more people harp on about it.

Again, I stress, everyone shut up about Avatar.

Wow, Avatar never really seemed like sequel material to me.

But, as the Nostalgia Critic says, "The cash cow goes..."

Go to hell.

Go STRAIGHT to HELL. Do not pass Go, do not collect 72 virgins.

Avatar was effing AWESOME, on every level. And I knew the story inside out since Y2K. You know WHY filmmakers rehash old stories? Because people want to see them, numbnuts. So shove your boycott-on-principle up your self-righteous ass.

Avatar was mediocre at best, but there is one single bit that blew my mind: the match sticks that the main charecter used worked inspite of being wet.

You heard it here first, folks -- nothing says "22nd Century" like waterproof matches.

I'm relentlessly optimistic about anything he does and I've enjoyed everything he has done.

And I thought Avatar was great and have no problem seeing more of it.

I'm a perfect fan.
I agree. Cameron has some great squeals under his belts (Aliens, T2). I think he can pull it off.

Oh noes!
someone is making a sequel to a movie which lots and lots of people enjoyed, the fact that it's beeing made doesn't cost me anything, if i don't like the idea i can just choose to not watch it, but i'm still given the free oppertunity to choose to go watch it/dl it/get the dvd/ignore it. It will only cost me as much as i choose to spend on it, possibly nothing.
How painfull it is to live in a world like that, where people make potentially great things you can choose to enjoy if you want, and ignore if you don't.
I am a whiny little *****.

And wait, theres more! What if tons of other people enjoy it but i don't? then i'll be cheated for some enjoyment cause they didn't make it specifically to cater to my needs.
I am a selfish little **** who lacks perspective.

Oh noes! what if i actually liked the first movie but doesn't lik ethe sequel? it'll totally ruin the first movie, cause making a sequel means they'll magically re-write the all originals, including peoples memory of it, so they'll actually ruin that which i like by adding to it, nevermind the fact that bad fan-fiction/art/rule34 has prolyl already done that.
I'm lacking understandment on the magic powers of movie companies.

I hope all the whiners udnerstand the sarcasm, and understand that their rants about the horror of a sequel beeing made is void of all logic. And that it's only the ban-hamemr thats keepign me from writing all sorts of ugly things about em.

Now before you dismiss this as a lame fanboy post (i admit i really liekd the movie) let me say this.
This goes for everything, every movie game and music album. YOU'RE NOT BEEING HURT BY SOMEONE MAKING SOMETHING YOU DON'T WANAN PLAY/WATCH/LISTEN TO! FUCK YEAH CAPS LOCK!
even for stuff i don't like myself, but i'm begining to wonder whether i'm superhuman and taht my power is to just ignore things i don't wanna watch/play/hear. seeing how people whine, it would seem like they lacked that abillity...
