Avatar is now officially the highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing even the estrogen filled Titanic (Ironically, also the work of Director James Cameron) in sales!

Well I knew it was going to happen, but the announcement is nice.

I liked the idea of Titanic (minus the love story bit and all) but there were to many historical inaccuracies.

I'm not surprised. Still haven't seen it yet. At the local IMAX the film is fully booked till next week and I refuse to see it any other way!

*Watches from the harbour*
Well..... there goes the Titanic.......
:p

Really though, I'm not surprised.
I will be surprised, though, is if Cameron gives all the profits to charities or some such good-willed thing.

....Its obvious people only went to see the shiny graphics and 3D special effects, im not bothering where the story got ripped from.

Avatar is now officially the most overhyped film of all time!

...yeah. I'm with previous people, not entirely unexpected.

*mutters* Stupid Avatar...

Yeah, I'm not surprised as well, but I think the only reason Avatar outsold Titanic is because of the 3D ticket sales, which 3D tickets cost at least twice as much as a regular one.

And what's the third highest grossing film of all time? Something else by James Cameron?

Well, it's better than Titanic if nothingelse.

Respect to James Cameron, he knows how to make people watch a movie.

Peter Jackson actually, it's The Return of the King. Cameron cannot have all three, he simply cannot!

Only thing it has to beat now is the highest grossing by inflation.

Gone with the wind took $400,000 gross. that was 1.4 bn in the US alone when adjusted for inflation

If you read the article; it says it isn't the highest grossing film of all time... It's Gone With the Wind.

Anyway, congrats to the PR-guys, I guess...
