Today, whilst playing C&C3 KW quick match on X-Box, Marked of Kane(me) vs. GDI a while in he managed to get a MARV out (it's a godly, nigh impossible to kill tank), and I didn't have nearly enough firepower to take it down.

Screw that idea, waited for the MARV (and most of his army) to go halfway across the map, flanked him using EMP to keep the MARV at bay, took out his main base, Win.

Since some of my "holy sh.." moments were already mentioned (HL2 Zombies, Gears Berserker, CoD4 nuke) i'm gonna throw in something from Unreal. That part when you go down that U-shaped corridor with a button at the end. You press it, the door closes and the lights turn out one after another towards you, while you can hear a Skaar'j (sp?) approaching from the darkness. I think i'll never forget that scene!

That bit in Condemned 2 when the tar creatures first come out of the walls and throw themselves at you, and you're armed with a stomach full of whiskey and a piece of pipe you've just wrenched from the wall. I was just like, "this is just full of boring normal peop... OH SHIT!"

I'm surprised no one has mentioned anything from Portal yet. The moment for me was in the room near the end where you climb up from the floor into a giant room and turrets pop out of all the walls. I got distracted taking out the turrets for a moment and then finally stopped to look around the room - and just stopped and stared for a moment as I realized just how ridiculous a series of jumps I was about to pull off.

Also - Escape Velocity Nova, when I was playing around with cheats and a maxed-out ship and saw "Vell-os reinforcement fleet detected" I thought "Cool, I haven't seen them fight yet". Two seconds later a blue ship flies past, there's a brief laser sound, and my ship blows up.

I've had two.

First one was the first time I ever fought Duriel in Diablo 2. That guy... is a monster.

Second one is the Omega Pirate in Metroid Prime. I thought "eh, just another boss fight". NOOOOO. Killed me something like 15 times before I finally got the fucker. Then on my next playthrough I discovered that I could've used Super Missiles instead of the Plasma Beam on him <_<

I dunno. Are we talking about frustration? Trying to beat Mogenar in Corruption on the hardest difficulty was pretty damn tough for me. The boss fight takes a good ten or fifteen minutes... I gave it a crack every day or two until I finally got it after about eight. There's also the escape from the Queen Kikimore's lair in The Witcher, more recently. You have to knock down some supports keeping the cave walls up, but if you don't run away fast enough you get crushed by them. Had to replay that part a good fifteen times before I got it (as I was killed either by the collapse or the Queen herself).

Well, my biggest "WTF" moment was when I got to the last boss of Bioshock. I had basically pissed myself to the point of dehydration trying to get through the game. And when I finally got to the final boss, I was expecting him to go all power-hungry bat shit crazy! Then I beat him in just a few minutes and got to sit through a sadly dissapointing ending. That was my "WTF" moment.

Yeah, I think everyone can agree that the ending portion of BioShock was complete pants. Escort mission followed by a generic battle against The Incredible Hulk, then a minute-long cutscene and a kick back to the menu screen without even credits or a nice theme song remix? Yeah, you bet your ass it could have been better.
