Ish found the thin things too soft, it moved to a hard and rough surface nearby. It tried to process it and found it could. after a minute, a sweet sticky material was excreted from the thing. Ish liked it and started to soak up more and more of it.The slime fell off the tree after about 10 minutes, filled up by the substance.

Duly noted, won't happen again.

Got another player joining soon, and waiting on the others to post, but updating you.
unlocked: oak tree
unlocked: stinging nettle

@Ish: Groggy from having its first large meal, and noticed it had learned more about the thing it just absorbed. The slime also noticed that it felt the temperature start to decrease slightly.

do we choose how the slime changes in form or would that be you?

Very good question! The answer is you. But remember, every change you do makes you hungry.

It started consuming the material despite the irritation that it cause, as it had an urge to devour anything consumable it came in contact with, after eating the larger biomass it returned moving froward and digesting the biomass underneath it, while doing so it started slowly developing limb like extensions.
I hope starting to change is ok at this point

It waded into the cool slimy place, eagerly. It was organic! Everything! The strange film on the slimy pool, the millions of unbeleivably small things darting past each other in that cool rippling place and, most interesting of all, six tiny, almost unnoticable points of pressure delicately alighting on Bosque's own surface. On instinct Bosque grasped the six little points and drew them closer to his center, only to discover that they were all attached to something light and crisp and struggling. The thing submerged into Bosque, and then another four followed suit. All of them landing so happy and thoughtless, Bosque wondered if they were throwing themselves to him on purpose. Such kind creations. Such wonderful organics!

Bosque basked in the basin of slimy water and rippled with the artifical tide. Something was ... happening, to him. And all the little flying things wanted to be a part of it.

Being full of the stuff made Ish claustrophobic. the slime started to expand, new limb like appendages, four of them grew. Ish was also starting to get covered in little brown specs. But this made the slime hungry again and it set off in search of more organic things to eat.

After a while of wandering Ish came upon something, it was like its first meal but about four or five times the size of the slime itself. the taste was not as fresh as its first meal but it was the same type of organic for sure. Ish set about consuming the major thing.

Absolutely! The 'forest' is filled up, but there's still 3 'suburban', 3 'ocean', and two 'desert', as Shanaar is joining in the desert very soon.

Starting to grow your rhinocerous legs? Sure, go ahead. It'll give you better mobility.

Unlocked: Mosquito. Starting to change in relation to Hummingbird or Mosquito?

Unlocked: Raccoon. Starting to grow your komodo dragon legs and turning your skin into oak bark? Very nice. Also, your posting style has already gotten way better since your first one. I like it! Also, I'm thinking the creature you described is furry (the chipmunk as first meal), since there aren't any big lizards in any Californian forest.

@Forest slimes: The sun is almost setting.

@Ish: The furry creature [http://homepage.mac.com/wildlifeweb/mammal/raccoon/raccoon_737tfk.jpg] had an aftertaste. Instead of just being dead, the slime began to feel sick. The animal had died of some sort of disease! As the slime felt the animal's mouth area, it could tell it had been foaming at the mouth [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabies] when it was still alive. The slime began to get very confused and lose its sense of direction.

@Wrecker: In the slime's absorption frenzy, it almost didn't notice something it touched and started to consume moved quickly away at lightning speed. It was cool to the touch and very smooth, whatever it was [http://cs.nyu.edu/~parilov/images/projects/dmapP_snake_close.jpg]. It did, however leave a very small drip trail of blood into a small nearby hole.

@Bosque: The gentle ripple of the water suddenly got a ripple much bigger than the others it had been responding to, the entire slime submerged momentarily by a splash. Barely a second later, the paw of some creature [http://www.cooperanimalclinic.com/images/wolf_paw.gif] landed right in the middle of the slime, injuring it. Before the slime could act in defense, the creature was gone.

Ish had become disoriented and decided it needed to protect itself. Using the energy from the feast it had, it's limbs formed, the front two looked like long peices of bark, they stuck up past the joints like shields. the rear ones were stubby and more meant as anchors for the ground.
The main body of the slime was still semi transparent. the brown spots were still growing, starting to look like scales but with a more rough texture.

The slime planted itself in the ground and soaked up some soft stuff, stuck to something hard. it tried to blend in, waiting for a new decent meal.

the slime was confused by the biomass being able to move as all its other meals were stationary, it followed the trail of the different kind of biomass left behind by this thing that moves, after a while of consuming this biomass he found a gap in the ground, the slime started lowering itself down the hole by one of its limbs hoping to find the moving thing.

Much better choice of starting sample!

@Arq: The assistant scientist had taken his own route home. He had taken an armload of canisters with him, leaving them in the trunk of his car, which had been damaged earlier and was missing the trunk's lid, leaving the contents completely exposed. As he drove through the desert, he noticed how poorly repaired the road really was, hitting huge potholes. One of the bumps was bad enough that a canister bounced out of the open trunk, cracked on the road so badly that a single touch would likely shatter it, and rolled into the sand.

@Ish: The slime simply couldn't get comfortable. If its increasing confusion and pain from the disease [http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0002310/] wasn't bad enough, it became famished from changing its body so much with a single growth spurt. The pain from the disease had reached every cell in its body now.

@Wrecker: The hole seemed deep at first, feeling small organic stringy things [http://image.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/144010/144010,1267322006,1/stock-photo-roots-in-a-soil-background-47605948.jpg] sticking at it from each side of the tunnel-like hole. But then without warning, the slime felt something bite into it. The thing [http://www.fcps.edu/islandcreekes/ecology/Reptiles/Eastern%20Garter%20Snake/e_gartersnake.jpg] tried to shake it back and forth for some reason, but the slime's flexible body made only the spot bitten move.

Ish was so restless, it wanted to move but couldn't. something landed on it and started to peck at its front legs repeatedly, almost trying to bore a hole thorough them. it desperately absorbed the thing that landed on it.

once the creature realized what was happening, it tried flapping limbs to get away but couldn't.

Feeling something the slime hadn't felled before, It became a bit confused until the canister hit the ground. With the canister rolling in the sand it hit a small rock, breaking the canister and letting the slime lose.

The slime didn't now what just happened. It was hungry, but it was always hungry and that was not a new feeling. No, suddenly it felt all kinds of new things. Instead of only feeling the inorganic solid glass, it suddenly was feeling all kinds of small inorganic particles that sometimes sticked a bit to him before falling of it and it was only as the slime could sense under him. Then there was the feeling of feeling nothing on top of him. It tried to comprehend just what had happened as much as it was possible of at the moment before a more basic urge took control of it. Going away from the road and in to the desert, Arq went in search of something organic to consume.

I'm gonna grow some hummingbird traits. I want the wings, in particular the whole perpetually flapping hover in mid air maneuvorability thing.

Something had tried to pop Bosque. It was heavy and bulbous and sharp and for the first time Bosque felt trepidation about his newest cage. Apparently the world was not all small oraganic treats landing happily up Bosque's rippling palette. Dangers roamed the ground in equal quantity and comparable tenacity to the delights.

The trepidation stayed as the ferocity of the rippling grew. Bosque felt hard protrusions forming on his back, spreading out and into the cool air above him. The compulsion arrived to bat the air with these new, strange additions and so Bosque did, once, curiously. Only to do it again. And again. The frequency of the beats rose and rose until bosque was just wildly shaking them, manic and ecstatic. Bosque didn't know where the walls of the cage were anymore, he couldn't feel the solid sandy surface beneath him. There was just the buffet of cool breezes like soft cold caresses in the dark. And then the impact of something cragged and splintered. And then the impact of another very solid organic.

Bosque recoiled away in darkness, trying to right himself in a world where gravity is relative and obstacles invisibly litter every direction. Bosque was, understandably, less than successful.

the slime proceeded to grab the thing that bit it and pull the thing towards it, also digesting the solid object that was in it (the teeth) first, digesting this thing as it tried to wriggle out of him. Once done it pulled itself back out of the cave digesting the organic materials on the wall, when the slime was out of the hole it realised that it started growing another extension to its body between two of its limes (a head but right now just a blob shape with no features) but near the bottom of the extension was a gap(mouth), the slime didn't know why but it felt right to have a gap there. The slime now returned to its feeding frenzy.

Please wait for Rex to respond before posting again. I'll let you know if it's okay to continue regardless.

I figure you want a woodpecker, but they only really peck holes to make a home or look for bugs, and only in large trees. This other thing I'm having harass you has some pretty good abilities and also pecks through wood- but of all types and sizes.

@Ish: The slime had absorbed the first two thirds of the creature, the back end motionless. The creature was very small [http://ipm.ncsu.edu/cotton/InsectCorner/photos/images/Adult_boll_weevil.jpg], but strangely shaped and had extremely hard skin. Whatever it was, it was finally dead. The pain from the disease was finally starting to go away. It still hurt, but not enough to keep it from moving, finally.

@Arq: The slime had bumped into something that hurt badly. This pokey thing was long, and felt serrated [http://cdn2.arkive.org/media/A0/A065571B-D5E2-4EB3-90A4-A2D2D22EB8B9/Presentation.Large/Close-up-of-golden-barrel-cactus-spines.jpg] as it got stabbed by it. The area around the spike was much cooler than where it was, and didn't feel dehydrated. The warm breeze didn't even seem to touch it there.

This was a new feeling it felt. It had never felt this before and it didn't like it. It was a feeling it would try to avoid next time. But it also felt something else when it felt that new feeling, it notice it was something organic that had brought this new feeling to him. Feeling hungry it tried to find a way to consume the organic material without getting that feeling again.

It fond a way to get past the thing that hurt... Was that what those things did. They hurt it? Pleased with this new discovery, Arq went and consumed the thing that had hurt it. While in the process of consuming the hurt thing, it felt a cool and a bit moist feeling from it. Something that it hadn't encountered yet and it preferred it.

I thought I had responded at the top of the page. I'm not sure if you missed it or if you were looking for something more substantial. So in the interest of keeping the thread moving quickly I'm gonna post something with more substance and you can choose to do with it as you will.

Spinning wildly in darkness Bosque bounced between obstacle after obstacle in a mad dive that never seemed to end. An organic wall would hit him from one direction, leaving tiny splinters in his side, and inorganic wall would hit him from the next as he backed away, splattiner his wings with dirt of mud. Finally Bosque shook and hovered right into a net, or something that felt like a net. It was little inorganic strings woven together, poorly, filled with holes small enough for a tiny creature to work between them, but not quite big enough for Bosque to pass. So he shook his wings hard, and discovered that the little inorganic strings liked him. They stuck to him, grasping for him desperately and he tried to part himself. So he shook his wings again and discovered that they were also quite strong little strings.

He continued to shake his wings but to little effect, it was just habit now. Instead Bosque started wondering what the little needles erupting out of his form were. They made a perfet line around half his circular body, running right between where his wings had grown. Bosque also wondered what those eight pin points of pressure were doing on top of him. He considerd it for a moment, before sucking something large and hairy right to his center.

All that through, Bosque wondered if there was someway to predict where the obstacles would be, should he manage to escape the little net. No use leaving it only to fall into another one. He needed something that would let him feel the world before it was next to him. Something to let him know what was coming...

Bosque is flying around without eyes. He hit a tree and then the ground and then flew into a spider web. While in the spider web he grew mosquito needles down the length of his "Back", where spikes might be on a traditional dragon. They won't do him any good till he gets a tail or something, but now he's a spined blood sucking winged thing. Also, he ate a spider. And now hes thinking about growing some eyes.
