today i was eating TRIX cereal, when I thought to myself, "I remember when those used to be shaped like fruit. And the blue one didn't exist until after they had this blue raspberry vs strawberry vote which didn't matter worth shit because they just ended up making this blue flower thing with a red dot in the middle. Then they introduced watermelon later on which where shaped like watermelon wedges that I used to try reallly desperately to fit together. Not that it really mattered they all taste exactly the same anyways. The only reason they changed back to that ball shape was because it would probably cut costs by using a universal press and they would take up more space in the box than the smaller fruit shaped TRIX."
Then I was like "Shit, I feel really old"

So, fellow escapists, what will be something that you will probably ramble on about to those crazy kids when you're old.

Probably Blockbuster rental stores. I can't say they are old now, but someday when I tell my grandkids about them they will tell me I was in the dark ages when I had to drive for 10 minutes to get a movie or game.

I remember when a box of Tim Bits cost a toonie.
Good to see a fellow Canadian. For anyone who hasn't been to Canada, that sentence made you sound like you were on some serious drugs. "Toonie" for bits of Tim....

Well I don't think I get the rite to post here as I'm around 15 years old. Though things have deffinitely changed in the time I've been around. One thing anyone can boast though, is seeing the first black president of the united states being elected. I was in school during the inaguration speach, and even though I am in Canada, my entire class aswell as two others all crouded around a old t.v to watch it. It was really funny actually, we had to make rabit ears on the t.v just to get the news channel, and the t.v was so small everyone could barely see. We eventually got a computer with a live stream on the projector screen though.

I remember when computer monitors came in two flavors: the black-and-green version, and the black-and-yellow. (We had a black-on-yellow.) I also remember when a joystick was a more necessary and common PC peripheral than a mouse.

I remember when we would hop on them internetz and be heralded by the banshee known as the dial-up tone. We didn't have yer fancy pants micro computers with yer lightning fast 100 terrabytes per second. We searched the good ol' fashioned way with patience and perseverance.

I remember a time when you didn't have to click on an innocent-looking link to have your senses bombarded by filthy images of the sexually deviant nature (sometime before the first 'Half-life era'); back in my day, you had to get your porn the old fashioned way:

I remember the time when you had a cellphone if you needed to be available for your job 24/7. The time when you had your friends over to watch a show, since you had the awesome five extra channels with cable.

The time a handheld was green/black and was awesome. (Or would have a COLOR screen but took four batteries every half an hour *g*)

Also the time children were playing outside having adventures... God, my nephews BORE me to death... no imagination. Just sitting at home playing "Going to work and build a road"

We had epic space adventures or archeological digs (with deathtraps) in the woods and fields around us.

DAMMIT, now i am all nostalgic again. CURSE YOU.

Of course, back then, snow was steam-powered.
Which is why you carried the shovel in your backpack. If we didn't shovel the coal, who would? The Communists?
Is a man not entitled to the coal of his brow? "No!" says the man in Moscow. "It belongs to everyone."

Err...wait...that's not right.

I remember a day when phones were used for calling people. Nope, now I can call someone, text them, send them a video I made ON THE PHONE, do my taxes, make a sandwich, jump-start my car, find the nearest diner, and run a small country FROM MY DAMN PHONE.

I remember when Star Wars was actually good before the second trilogy (but don't get me wrong. I like it, too. Just the first better. Contradicting, I know).
EDIT: I also remember dial-up. I don't miss it, I just remember it.
