Ever ask someone to try out a game and as youre watching them play you can't help but see they're doing everything they shouldn't be? They're meleeing as a caster. They're going battle medic. After seeing this you have to speak up and give them advice. They never take it that way of course and ask you to back off and just let them play. Can you help backseat gaming? I try but I always end up doing it. I guess I can't stand inefficiency.

Oh god, yes. My friend, he likes Bioshock and tries to play it every now and then. If I let him play it, I just steadily grow more and more pissed off watching him play it, doing everything 'wrong'. I can't watch people play games like that.

I'll do it if the person playing is just new to gaming, but I'll let seasoned gamers do whatever.

Same, my dad doesn't let me watch him play MW2 anymore because of it, I know I'm being annoying but I can't help it.

I'm actually forced to be a backseat gamer whenever my brother plays. He's 21 years old and whenever he plays a game, he goes 'What do I do?! Where do I go!? D:' I keep telling him to do it himself, and ignore him, but sadly I still have to help him out of pity with backseat gaming. Ah the curse of instinctively knowing how to play games and go where.

I have to admit that I'm a backseat gamer and my brother absolutly hates it when i try to help him with Borderlands. But it doesn't bother me when I'm playing, I actually prefer that people give me their advice so I can get better. But most of the time I try to do what they suggest and just end up doing worse and go back to my old stratagy.

Edit:

I drives me so crazy when people make stupid mistakes or miss something very good, only than once I tell them they snap back at me for helping them.

I can't watch a certain friend of mine play a game, ever, he always makes the noob mistakes and shit and it just buggs the shit out of me.

Like in MW2 he'll be running and i see and enemy out of the corner of his eye, i dont speak up and he never notices, then gets bum raped. If i do speak up he just gets mad at me for tring to help, then gets bum raped.

Or he'll go sprinting into a room and not check his corners then get shot in the back.

Or he'll get a vendeta against a camper and die 30 times by the guy, only to finaly kill him with a grenade, and steal the guys camping spot. He then gets killed by said camper and then just repeat this procces.

It really bugs the hell out of me.

Only if it's tactical and every-minute-counts game. If someone plays Heroes of Newerth (dota thingy) I constantly tell them to do this and that.

But if it's a more relaxed game, like Prototype, GTA or just any game where it isn't crucial that you do everything right, I won't bother. Unless I get some awesome idea, which I then spam in his/hers face until he/she submits.

I use to be really bad but that's when I was duh enough to watch my parents play and they are gaming impaired. They miss allot of things and after about 10 minutes of watching them get stuck I pipe in and am told to let them figure it out.. when it's the first area of a game. The friends I've watched play already know how. But I hate backseat gamers, it pisses me of when I already know how to game.

Does watching your teammates when you're dead in Search and Destroy in MW2 count? "YOU LOOKED RIGHT AT HIM! Oh look, he killed you. Good job."

Fallout 3 Backseat Gaming is simultaneously the most annoying and fun. My friend and I made a join character named Afroman. We had so much fun, each of us taking turns backseat gaming, that we forgot to sleep that night.

God yes. It can't be helped. Especially when I'm trying to teach anyone over 20 it seems. I'm like "Now, go forward...By pressing the button that is in the forward direction."
I get really mad and irritated.

Backseat gamers are one of my all-time pet peeves. It's seriously jerky behavior, and only serves to make me a little tense, so my play is actually affected for the worse. Cool it, people.

Oh God yes!!! I hate watching other people play unless they are better than me, because if it is anyone else I end up going;
"Don't do that, no seriously don't do that"
*they stop, but not before they put themselves in danger*
"Oh for the love of God back, go back!"
*They go left*
"No, back *further left* back!!! Your other back!!!"
*they turn the camera around*
"Okay, now it's to your left, so go left"
*They go right*
"FFFFUUUUU -*I go into a rage coma*"

I did that with one of my friends A LOT, he gets real pissed at the game and I try not to piss him off more by pleasantly giving him advice. He usually just rejects it and keeps blaming the game.
