As a fem-gamer, I hate it when girls use their wiles to cover up a lack of knowledge in games. As in, "HELLO. I PLAY GAMES KINDA SORTA, BUT I'M HOT SO LOOK HERE!" But guys might disagree..
Oh, I completely agree. In fact, I find it annoying when female gamers feel the need to advertise the fact that they are girls by having really obvious usernames, then finding a way to slip the fact that they are girls into almost everything they write just incase someone didn't notice. They could have an encyclopedia-like knowledge of games and it wouldn't be less annoying.

When people throw away the cases or the manuals of the game, as a collecter I hate that. There's nothing quite like the feeling of finding a rare game in the wild, only to discover that only the disc remains.

Or when people fold the spine of a book and then complain when it falls apart.
I'm from Canada so I throw out the French version of the manual. Make no mistake, I always keep the case and the English manual, but sometimes I ask myself "Why am I throwing this out?" but then I remember that I don't speak French. Still, it feels weird of me to throw it out, because despite the language, I am still throwing out a manual.

I do throw out those sleeves that come on top of games, and I made a topic about it once and someone ate me out about it. IMO, those sleeves take up too much space, make my games inconvenient to access, offer nothing extra to the design of the game, and create inconsistencies in my library when looking at them from the side.

I just want to say that your comment is ironic because her username is G33kGoddess, hahaha, I know you didn't subtly mean it towards her but I just couldn't help but point that out. I also agree with both your points though. I know this girl who is quite attractive and we play Black Ops together, but her user name doesn't lead you to believe she's a girl at all, her avatar is a male and she doesn't like to talk in game unless we're in a party because she hates how people act once they find out she's a girl, and I have a lot of respect for that.

Gamers, at least on the internet, seem to far too commonly hold the idea that any game they don't like is of poor quality, and ask other people what they could possibly see in such a game. This shows up a lot in discussions about Final Fantasy where every other post is how the series went downhill after their favorite one in the series.
oh and read somthing on an article you dont like? like a quote when they are talking about the game? doesnt matter how vauge or reliable or what it could possibly mean

ITS THE END OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because console sales far outstrip PC sales and without, using the Skyrim example, the console sales of Oblivion/Fallout 3 there would be a good chance that BethSoft wouldn't be making Skyrim? Hows 'dem apples? Crunchy?

Of course not all PC gamers are like this, hell my gametime is 50/50 Xbox/laptop at the moment.

Oh good old PC gamers. "Pandering to you simple consoletards means the PC never gets any exclusives". No Mr PC gamer, the fact that you torrent so many of your games that it becomes completely uneconomical to release just for PC does that.

Note, I am not saying this is true of all PC gamers, I have a pretty decent gaming PC myself for which I buy games. However this is definitely true of all of the militants that I know.

As a fan of Halo and Call of Duty I know exactly what you mean.
see halo and COD fans are right to say everything after mw1 or (whatever halo was good) due to the general lack of innovation in those sequels pumping out a lot of the same. From a technical standpoint their slightly better games due to fine tuning and gfx, but they bring very little fresh or exciting to the table is the problem. So you get people with bad opnions about the rehash.
Yea changes to characters and single play campaigns have been minor for a while, but for me that isn't a reason to hate a game. It generally means if you found it fun last time then you will this time. I find that much better than taking a loved game, deciding to take it in a different direction only to find that the new direction is down a dark backalley where it gets murdered (which is incidentally all my predictions for Bioshock Infinite).

Besides, it's not like they haven't moved on at all. Halo's forge and Call of Duty's multiplayer have gone leaps and bounds with each game.

This. A hundred times, this. I always end up stockpiling items in case I need them later. When really, I need them now. But... You know, there might be something just past this where I need them more, so I'd better hold on to them...

Don't do it, kids.

I know that feeling. Half Life 2 became so much less frustrating when I just started using the grenades and rocket launcher in common situations.

Playing every FPS like it's DOOM. Whenever I see that FPS perspective my first instinct is run-and-gun-strafe-strafe-kill-'em-all, regardless of how the game is designed to be played.

How long it takes to adapt to a new game varies. STALKER: SoC made it very clear from the first gunfight that it was not DOOM.

this too! Remember playing as a team on AC multiplayer and getting the "oh we got a girly girl here, well if we lose it's your fault!"
then I killed three times as many as the rest of my team put together (smug feeling still makes me happy!)

Well, I do thi myself, but I think we all need to stop reloading after every shit. It puts us at a disadvantage and makes us vulnrable.

I used to do the OCD reloading thing but Bulletstorm has cured me of that to some extent. Running high scores on it means reloading is a waste of valuable time bonus.

I'm an extreme risk taker in most action games. Which usually leads me to struggling with parts of games that should be easy if you just hang back and take your time.

I play a lot of SHMUPs and it took me a long time to get out of the habit of saving smart bombs and such, even to the point where I got killed because I was "saving" it. Now I am kind of the opposite on other genres. No Kill Like Overkill for a lot of things.

Can't remember what game it was now but in it I used to use a rocket launcher as a convenient alternative for opening doors.

No most guys will probably agree with your viewpoint, look up Ijustine and you will see a lot of hate directed her way for the portal 2 lets play for the very reasons you stated. (now equally hating people like thats probably a bit harsh, but thats another discussion entirely).

But yeah good point :)
EXACTLY THIS!
Ugh, it's really quite frustrating. As a girl gamer you know, I know which games I'm terrible at, but I've been playing since 6 years old, it's part of my life and I'll give anything a go. I have a reasonable collection and you know, growing up with guys just meant playing games became a solid part of my life.

When I first started seeing this guy, there was another girl who made moves on him, and she used to send him facebook wall posts of "OMG, lets totally play COD later, I'll kick your ass" and all this. I thought, well awesome she's a girl gamer that's pretty sweet.

I went on her XBOX live profile, xbox being the only console she's got and the only games she's even got registered on or having achievements for are all "kinect animals" and monopoly. I figured, oh maybe she's got two usernames, but this is the one that she keeps posting as her Live U/N on facebook, so it's gotta be this one. She didn't even have COD, MW, in fact, no FPS even featured on her games list.

I was so SO disappointed. I mean, she came across like "yeah I know how to kick it with the guys and I'm totally abusing this" but when it came down to it, there was no evidence to back it up.

There were a whole range of zumba and dance games I didn't even know existed until I saw her profile >< It just pees me off, until I realise that well, if they are that insecure to lie about the games they play or even being a gamer, then they have some serious self esteem issues going on.

Lack of online etiquette.

There are exceptions, but that's always part of there being a rule isn't it?

Girl logs into vent sever.
Girl: "Hi guys, what are we raiding today?"
Creepy dude "Are you a girl? You have a nice voice."
Me "Oh for the love of..."
Creepy guy has been removed from the raid. Creepy guy has been banned from my vent server.

There's always one! No matter what server I've played on there's always that one creepy dude that says that line. Every single time. I know it's not the girls fault at all and I'm not blaming them, in fact I feel sorry they have to put up with this bullshit. But for the love of all that is holy, don't say that line! It just makes you sound like a creep!

All my discs are in their cases sitting on my shelf or they are in the console. My buddy has a horrible habit of putting games in the wrong case and it annoys the hell out of me. Alot of times when I go over there I organize his games.

As i said tweaks. To get people interested in sequels you have to go further than the previous games, and no cod sp since mw has really left any impression on me. Blops mp might be the best in the world but it doesn't really matter as it will be replaced by whichever cod game is next. It just makes an endless cycle of rebuying.
I blame EA for that particular business model. They've learned from all their sporting games that people will buy essentially the same game every year if you give it a progressively higher numbered title. Now other publishers have realised this, we're doomed.

Unless my theory of the ultra-generic RPG comes true.

You know that stereotype that girls are bad at videogames, that isn't true but everyone overgeneralises it for no obvious reason. I believe this is the male equivalent, most male gamers are fine (even the MMOers), but theres that handful like this that make us all look bad.

If it were up to me we'd form an elite team of Marcus Fenix, Duke Nukem, Captain Price being led by Commander Badass to hunt them down. But something about that plan strikes me as unlikely.

My husband does all of the following:

- Leaves disks out of their boxes, frequently with stuff on them
- Leaves disks and boxes on the floor
- Stacks game boxes on the coffee table rather than in the racks
- Lets me turn on the computer without telling me he's taken out the USB extension in order to charge the controllers
- Puts things on top of disks

I really don't see why its so hard to put something back where you got it from. Grr.
