Saints row the third was hands down a terrible sequel.
It ruined the series it messed up everything

Saints row 2 was the perfect sequel to the original saints row, it polished the mechanics it expanded the city a bit it gave some new dynamics but it already started to get a tad crazy
There was a lot of build up to the crazy and it still made sense for the universe really.

Saints row the third just went fuck you to everything that made saints row saints row, it gave you everything you needed to work for instantaneously and then came with bullshit like superpowers and stuff like that.

It just messed up the complete experience and feel.
THIS, my thoughts exactly, thanks for saying that so I didn't have to friend!
Yeah, SR3 ruined the franchise. With their latest sucess SR4 is already doomed.

Army of two the 40day was bad compared to the first game. The story was ridiculous and fighting the same enemies over the whole game was lame too. The ending ruined it at last.

I hear that Serious Sam 2 completely broke away from the hectic form the first game, and became more like Doom or Quake, but, less interesting. Haven't played the series, yet, so, I can't verify it.

Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge was kind of alright, but, it broke away from its predecessor way too much.

It was linear, it was so much easier, it was shorter, a lot of power-ups were removed, there was a lot less music than there should've been, there was no score system, only hard mode had a time limit, a lot of enemies made no sense, you moved on after collecting a froglet instead of going back to the beginning (except in one space level), the froglets were changed around, and there were no golden frogs.

However, it did do a few cool things, like, having more of a story (which it could've done better), adding more playable characters, a Challenge Mode, some cheat codes, more multiplayer modes, a main theme, an artwork viewer, the retro levels, and the coin system.

SR: The Third has to be one of the most disapointing games ever for me.... so much promise and they kill off the best character in the first ten minutes!

Assassin's Creed Revelations. The Assassins sucked, there was little creed, and I didn't really see any revelations. That game was so bad. So, so bad.

FarCry 2. FarCry 1 is a pretty decent game, FarCry 2 isn't. I don't really know how to explain it, it just isn't.
Absolutely this. My biggest issue with the game was the fact that EVERYONE opens fire on you wherever you go. It made travelling around the areas very tedious and bothersome. In a land full of mercenaries and soldiers all dressed alike, you apparently have a sign on your chest that says "Open fire on me".

Does Blacksite: Area 51 (of this generation) count as a sequel to Area 51 (of last generation)? If so, that's one that really comes to mind. I've posted this before in forums. Area 51 is great. Blacksite stripped out everything good about it and made it a generic shooter that dissapointed me at every turn. In fact, even if not compared to Area 51, Blacksite is still shit from start to finish.

Mass Effect 3
Dragon Age 2
Oblivion
Tropico 2

Outside of that there are bad ones but these all actually broke something where the previous titles succeeded and they didn't add in much to compensate for the removal of good ideas.
