Games are losing their creativity lately... My least favourite would have to be the ending to Final Fantasy I.
That game came out in 1987. So much for "lately".

Red Dead Redemption has the best ending to a game I have ever played.
I would have to agree.

Anyway, OT, I was really disappointed by Bioshock's ending. Great game, awesome setting, VERY interesting plot and dialog but I thought both endings (esp. the "bad" one) were extremely inconsistent with the rest of the game. And the final boss fight was kinda WTF.

I remember reading that Ken Levine wanted one ending (different from both that appeared in the final game) but someone from upstairs pulled rank on him and made an "executive decision." Bastard.

Fable 2, FFX, Far Cry 2 and many many more. There are so many bad endings out there. Also I know it sasy this an endings thread but saying the game name will suffice and if you want to go into details you really should use spoiler tags.
You sly dog, claiming FFX has a bad ending. Good one, now the jokes over and you have to accept that X had an at least decent ending.
Actually it didn't. Final Fantasy X has *NO* ending in the US. There are a lot of questions left unresolved at the end of Final Fantasy X. Final Fantasy X-2 works on answering some of these questions, but again doesn't answer them all, for that you'd need Final Fantasy X: Final Mission, which was intentionally never released in the US.

Sometime ask yourself questions like how if Tidus was a construct of the Faiyth, did Auron apparently travel through time to meet him? What's more what was the purpose of even setting up the entire Summoner/Sin thing, did the Faiyth actually leave, how could they given that if you look at their temples and such it appears they are technological constructs, as is the "soul battery" that people go into when they die. This apparently being a lot of why technology/Machina is banned, to prevent people from understanding what's actually running the show, but even so the exact motivations of a lot of those that seem to be pulling the strings are never entirely explained.

Final Fantasy X pretty much sets some things up for what was a trilogy, and it does resolve a single storyline about Sin/Jecht, but doesn't deal with any of the over-arcing plotlines.

It's been a while, but that's how I remember it. I'll also say that I feel that despite the massive anticipation, Final Fantasy X-2 got the bad rap it did, because right as it was coming out we found out that it was not going to end the story, and the resolution was going to be Japan only. That pretty much killed any interest I had in it, and I know a lot of other people felt the same way. Especially if you read some of the Japanese periodicals that were being translated, it seemed that there was a motivation to keep it "Japanese Only" that was pretty racist. As was a bit of what I was reading about the desician to never release "Final Fantasy X: International" to the US market.

Simply my thoughts/experiences/opinions.

Hated the ending of wind waker, they go out to sea. And then what!?!
Actually, The Phantom Hourglass on the DS picks up right after Wind Waker, but I actually like how the Wind Waker ended, especially Ganon's death.
Actually in that game it isn't the same link so it kinda doesn't, but it still does.
I wouldn't think about any of it though the zelda timeline is so messed up.

Well, you gotta be wary in a thread called "Video Game Endings".

Anyway, Red Dead Redemption:
Great ending, but the part I didn't like is now I'm freaking Jack Marston instead of John.
True man, true. Though in honesty I think the ending of that far, far outways that one bad point. I'd actually suggest that game had one of the better ending of any game.

Much better anyway than in Mass effect 2
Really, little Reaper human foetus thingy who's Eye I have to shoot lots. Where did the normal writers go for this part of the story? At least I got my precious Illusive Man to talk to. Damn I love him.

Of course, we all have to mention one game in particular. 13. Fuck you game. fuck you.

I was just giving an example because I couldn't readily think of one. I looked at my whole library and didn't see a game with a less than par ending.

I agree that Bioshock's ending was a big crap(I had the Good Ending), and the Final Boss to be the most easy ever.

However, Bioshock 2's Good Ending(and the Neutral one, I think) was fucking brilliant.

Fallout 3 also had an extremely anticlimatic ending.

I seem to recall that the "slideshow" of your past events was supposed to have ~100 outcomes and be dramatic and whatnot. Not the case. Poorly cut together and extremely bland. Also, the pre-Broken Steel ending of "lol ur dead now. gg tho" annoyed me to no end.
Defiantly, I forgive Bethesda a little for rectifying the situation with the Broken Steel add-on but yes on that occasion "is that it" was a phrase that came to mind

fallout 3 (pre-broken steel) bugged me cause there was no big battle/boss... as long as you followed liberty prime you were just fine
