That's a bit silly, because you're expecting it to be something it's not. I could say that I didn't like Portal because it didn't have Deathmatch, except that nothing about Portal ever indicated it would have Deathmatch, and Deathmatch would be a terrible idea for Portal and just plain not work.grimhammer said:Penny-Arcade... they might have occasional funny moments but the fact that there's NO overarching storyline is pathetic. ...damn it.Geo Da Sponge said:I don't know any 'bad' webcomics. Just ones which I liked when I was younger, was later told they were rubbish, and upon re-reading them with a more critical view found out that they weren't as good as I remembered.
Well, I say kudos to you for still being willing to try new ones and give fair criticisms. I don't suppose anyone wants this thread to be filled with people bombarding you with webcomics to try in an effort to 'convert' you, but may I suggest you read a little of Girl Genius? Because either you like it, which would be nice, or you don't, in which case I would be interested to know what you felt was wrong with it.The Breadcrab said:If that's supposed to be a cure, then I'm sorry to say it has failed.HT_Black said:
I'm five pages in and still not laughing. I gave up when it suddenly threw a crap-load of text at me and expected me to read it. No, I will not. I'm not going to suffer through your mountains of dialogue for something that probably won't even be funny.
I'm happy that you guys like some of these webcomics, more power to you. But I despise them completely. I don't consider myself pessimistic, cynical, or a "wet blanket", but I hate webcomics and do not find them funny. Me and them just were not meant to be.
Although I should point out that it isn't really trying to be funny at the start and the colouring becomes a lot less idiosyncratic in later chapters.
It's a intentionally bad webcomic, based off the comic the character Dave Strider makes ironically in the excellent webcomic Homestuck.sageoftruth said:Good god! That is horrible! Am I missing out on some kind of joke here?SonofaJohannes said:http://www.mspaintadventures.com/sweetbroandhellajeff/

MS Paint Adventures. Seriously, I'm more than a bit tired of praise for it and everything related to it that's not Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff, if only because of the "STAIRS" thing.
Ctrl-Alt-Del, because it tries too hard to be Penny Arcade. /megaflameshield
SONICHU. Everyone else on the interbutt has pointed out its sheer shittiness.

It's a reference to the one and only expression that anyone in that comic is capable of making.prince_xedar said:I dont get the B^U reference

That's cool just seems the poster here had picked on some popular comics and I wanted to know why he found it terrible, on getting a friend hooked on QC I had to advise that yeh the artworks s little crappy st the start but improves and the style also gets a hell of a lot better. I'd disagree with you on a few points, but to be fair these are good valid reasons if you feel that way- and maybe the challenge is a little presumptuous....but still I enjoy the comic and will defend and recommend it to most peopleOutright Villainy said:Opinions and assholes and all that, but I am going to call you on being dismissive of anyone not like QC. I read fucking loads of that comic. And yes, for a while it was quite good, particularly from around, say, 500 to 1000 more or less.sniddy said:OK I can understand XKCD - it's a little pretentious and big for it's boots but does deliver the goods sometimesSouplex said:There are quite a few.
I don't want to keep you here all day though, so I'll just give you the really popular ones that are terrible, and deserve to be taken down a few pegs.
XKCD, Questionable Content, Sluggy Freelance.
Never read or heard of sluggy
And I 2nd you explaining how QC in terrible, seriously it may not be your style it's not a gag a day strip but the art work is nice now its evolved and his writing both serious and comic is hard to fault and it's a real living story that you can't help be drawn into.
honestly did you read like the first 20 strips and quit
...I challenge anyone to get past 500 and not be hooked - seriously
Even then the artworks got a way to go...
These days though, Jaques has stopped trying to improve his art style, whilst settling on the worst kind of almost uncanny realistic look. Frame composition is just as static as day 1, and hasn't improved one iota. But I'd forgive that if the storyline engaged me at all. It doesn't. He doesn't put any sort of real drama or conflict in the way of his characters, and they just have banal conversation after banal conversation. In the past people complained about his characters being too similar, all being witty mouth pieces that would spout whatever clever thing Jaques had in his head. But at least that was funny. Since I stopped reading, about 4 months ago, I hadn't laughed at a single QC in over a year.
So no, giving that comic a fair chance does not necessarily mean someone's going to like it.
I would have to grandly agree with your disclaimer there as a some of my favorite web comics are on there and after i read the reviews umm yeah i don't think pulling a random plot point and throwing it down and saying how random it is doesn't help your opinion when you don't mention a single bit of story behind that plot point that makes the plot point and actual plot point ugh that site angries up my blood.HT_Black said:Everything here, with special mention to Monster Lover and Kit n Kay Boodle (for reasons that should hopefully be obvious).
DISCLAIMER: List was mostly assembled by idiots.
That's like saying Call of Duty is a bad game because you don't drive race cars in it.grimhammer said:Penny-Arcade... they might have occasional funny moments but the fact that there's NO overarching storyline is pathetic. i think it's pretty good( the artwork is crappy but at least you can tell who they are)Strain42 said:Persona 3 FTW and Persona 4TW. The art style is total crap, the parody aspect of it is laughable, the jokes are often either stale or repeated call-back jokes that aren't even funny. Overall they are horrible horrible webcomics and I have no idea how it gets thousands of views every single day.
And don't even get me started on the writer. "J.C. Scott aka Strain42". He has to add that so that he can pretend people give a crap about him as a serious cartoonist instead of just another stupid internet username with a Hitchhikers reference in it
A dumbass comic written by a total dumbass. Stay far far away from it if you know what's good for you.
...That was fun![]()
