Bad Webcomics

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Order of the Stick.
It's actually a great webcomic, and even though it's based on D&D, those who know nothing about D&D can still laugh at it and follow the story arc while the hardcore fans are debating data tables on the forum. It has everything going for it.
Well, except the release schedule. Some weeks, you get 1 or 2 updates. Sometimes, it's months between updates. The worst part is that if you so much as say a single word about the comic release schedule on the forums, you get warned or banned, even when there are no updates at all for a month.
In short, it's not the comic that's bad. It's not the actual problem with the comic that's bad (I mean, there are always going to be delays.) It's the draconian policy involving discussion of that problem that makes it bad.

That's a bit silly, because you're expecting it to be something it's not. I could say that I didn't like Portal because it didn't have Deathmatch, except that nothing about Portal ever indicated it would have Deathmatch, and Deathmatch would be a terrible idea for Portal and just plain not work.grimhammer said:

I actually really like it so far (read 20 pages). Though to be fair, I'm considering it more like a graphic novel than a webcomic at this point. In fact, it's pretty much nothing like other webcomics, which still makes it hard for me suddenly say "webcomics are good!" I'm a sucker for steampunk, so that's definitely a factor.
So far most webcomics I've seen follow the Penny Arcade format (episodic) and quality (crap). This is actualy good stuff, however. It's fairy original, has good storytelling so far, good dialogue, and is developing it's characters and it's world well. I can't think of too many criticisms for it, to be honest. It's not funny so far, but it's engaging enough regardless. There are a few mild stereotypes, but hardly worth criticizing about. And some elements made me lost, but maybe it was on purpose to draw me in? It's certainly working.
If more webcomics are like this, bring it on. Why am I getting the feeling that these are the exception rather than the rule, though?
Well the best thing about webcomics is that they aren't limited by anything. They can be any genre, art style, format and use any method of story telling.
Like when a lot of people hear webcomics they instantly think of just game/nerd related humor like Penny Arcade or CAD, but there is a lot of variety outside of stuff like that. Whenever I hear someone say they don't like webcomics it confuses me. To me it's like hearing someone say they don't like movies or they don't like music. With how much variety there is, it shouldn't be too hard to find something you like.
I don't know if I could recommend anything you'd actually like, partially because I don't read the one you're saying you like now. However, one strip I've been following lately (I think it's wrapping up now) is called Ratfist.
It's written and drawn by Doug TenNapal who is known for inventing Earthworm Jim. It's an interesting take on superhero comics and is coming along nicely.
Soooo...I dunno, you might like that one.

That's cool just seems the poster here had picked on some popular comics and I wanted to know why he found it terrible, on getting a friend hooked on QC I had to advise that yeh the artworks s little crappy st the start but improves and the style also gets a hell of a lot better. I'd disagree with you on a few points, but to be fair these are good valid reasons if you feel that way- and maybe the challenge is a little presumptuous....but still I enjoy the comic and will defend and recommend it to most peopleOutright Villainy said:

EDIT: I've never read a webcomic that I thought was really bad. The closest I've seen to bad was Electric Gas, while I could appreciate the fact it was shit, I loved how stupidly offensive it was. Sadly, i think the guy ran out of money to keep the server so you can't read it anymore.

I'm going to be a little unpopular here and say XKCD. It's not that I don't get. I just don't think it's at all funny. The art style is just terrible for a comedic piece. Comics are a visual medium and a big part of all comedic visual media is the expression of emotion. A George Carlin routine is funny when read by George Carlin; it is not funny when read by Microsoft Sam. It is the same thing with XKCD. Faceless stick figures can only express emotions in a very, very, crude and dull manner.
Contrast XKCD with [a href="http://www.theslackerz.com/"]The Slackerz[/a]: a comic that, while only competently written, is one of my personal favorites because of its brilliantly emotive art style. Its near-perfect flow and highly-emotive faces elevate its otherwise nominal writing into extreme hilarity.
