Trying to count how many times now I've killed Dracula in Castlevania and failing. I love that series so much, and the games on the DS have been some of the best yet. That's why I'm more than a little nervous about the whole 'Kojima Reboot' of the series that by the looks of it plays more akin to God of War than anything. I don't *want* change, I loves me my Castlevania.

Other than that, things worth bragging about eh?

Not a boss, but I've beaten Elite Beat agents on every difficulty, unlocked every mission, and managed a perfect on Jumping Jack Flash on the hardest difficulty. Mastering that game was probably the most masochistic thing I've ever done in gaming, and yet so totally worth it!

Brütal Legend

The end fight with Doviculus was INTENSELY hard on Brütal.
Really? I one-shotted the entire thing on my maiden playthrough.

As for names I'd like to submit:

Cross/Elizabeth Greene ([Prototype])
Kessler (inFAMOUS)
Any of the bosses in Demon's Souls
Through the Fire and The Flames (Guitar Hero 3)
Zurvan (The Two Thrones)
Goettsch (Geneforge)
Eragon (Eragon: The Movie)

Yeah, Vexx basically plays like The Precursor Legacy on a bad acid trip.
That's probably why I didn't like it.

Oh well, but while we're on the subject of obscure games, did you ever play a game called Shinobi for PS2?
Shut up now before I murder you to death. I made that game better by carving it into an actual throwing star. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE.

Thank god for FAQ's or I wouldn't even get him down to 70%.
What version? DMC3 orig release was evil. DMC3SE made the whole game easy.

Actually, the original DMC 3 made the whole game hard. The normal setting was actually the Hard setting. But that only applies to that difficulty. DMC3: DA had Hard difficulty as well, and both had Dante Must Die mode.

I played Very Hard mode. It was.... evil

Oh, I dunno, its shitty level design, terrible checkpoint system, bullshit hit detection, fuck you enemies, and even for-period ugly graphics. the ONLY good thing about that game was Hotsuma's scarf. It was a spiffy accessory for one of the densest ninjas in history. "Oh, who is this strange ninja who fights just like my brother, and dresses just like my brother, and wears the same mask that I do? It obviously cant be my brother, because he is dead. I'd better defeat him and continue fighting my entire ninja clan that has been RAISED FROM THE GRAVE to serve as evil minions."
Ugh.

So awful

Any of the bosses from Ninja Gaiden 1 or 2 on a high difficulty OR any boss on Dante Must Die mode, with no items of any kind used.

...what? dude, when they put out DMC3SE, they made EACH setting easier. the total game difficulty was lowered. Which is appropriate, since Vergil sucked so hard. Well, thats not fair. Vergil was an adequate fifth combat style, but by not actually changing anything for him, the game wasn't fun. Especially the Vergil fights.

Serious respect to this man.

I could never even beat the second level.

DMC3 (Original) Vergil on Dante Must Die.

I had to go lie down afterwards because I was shaking so much.

What about FF9? I distinctly remember that final boss as being pretty darned easy, which I guess was made up for by the sheer evilness of Ozma.

OT: Ozma.

Beating Legion in Symphony of the Night on a naked Alucard run.

Rago Ragula and Angu Mol from Wild Arms one, this seems to be the easiest version of Rago Ragula but I'm still happy to have beat the bastard

...well I liked it.

Yeah, the story was terrible, the graphics aren't all that, and the characters were stupid, but I liked the areas, the gameplay and the bosses and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

And you gotta admit that scarf is badass.

Did you play it on Brütal, and was it the VERY last fight where you had to take out the TWO TOWERS? PLUS waves upon waves of oncoming enemies?
That's the one. I used the chain lightning axe, shocker strings, and the lightning launchers with all the Deuce upgrades. That happened to be just the right mix to take the challenge out of the mission.

the gameplay was BROKEN and so were the bosses. That's what i meant about faulty hit detection. As far as the environments, what did you like best? wall texture one, two, three, or four? plus the levels were WAY too long, with no map to tell you that you've been going the wrong damn way for 20 minutes because every corridor looks exactly the same. Now, I'd be more forgiving if the game were about half as long (one level per boss, instead of level, level leading to boss, boss) or if there were any sort of checkpoint system for dealing with the cheap deaths caused by the aformentioned shot-to-shit hit detection. Waitaminute... did the same team from shinobi make Demon's Souls? It would make perfect sense!

All else considered, one problem the game has is that it hasn't aged well. It was passable (never good) for early-years PS2, but now it is a meal of broken glass with entirely too much salt.

I think the worst thing though was the wallrunning. They made it sound so exciting, "Oh, dude, better learn how to do this, some places dont have floors!". WHat they presented was "push a button, and he'll stay there. you can leave the game, he wont fall off. run horizontally to the next jump now please."

And yes, i already said nice things about the scarf. What do you want from me?
