Yeah, Vexx basically plays like The Precursor Legacy on a bad acid trip.
That's probably why I didn't like it.
Oh well, but while we're on the subject of obscure games, did you ever play a game called Shinobi for PS2?
Shut up now before I murder you to death. I made that game better by carving it into an actual throwing star. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE.
Hey, what's wrong with that game??
Oh, I dunno, its shitty level design, terrible checkpoint system, bullshit hit detection, fuck you enemies, and even for-period ugly graphics. the ONLY good thing about that game was Hotsuma's scarf. It was a spiffy accessory for one of the densest ninjas in history. "Oh, who is this strange ninja who fights just like my brother, and dresses just like my brother, and wears the same mask that I do? It obviously cant be my brother, because he is dead. I'd better defeat him and continue fighting my entire ninja clan that has been RAISED FROM THE GRAVE to serve as evil minions."
Ugh.
So awful
...well I liked it.
Yeah, the story was terrible, the graphics aren't all that, and the characters were stupid, but I liked the areas, the gameplay and the bosses and I enjoyed it quite a bit.
And you gotta admit that scarf is badass.
the gameplay was BROKEN and so were the bosses. That's what i meant about faulty hit detection. As far as the environments, what did you like best? wall texture one, two, three, or four? plus the levels were WAY too long, with no map to tell you that you've been going the wrong damn way for 20 minutes because every corridor looks exactly the same. Now, I'd be more forgiving if the game were about half as long (one level per boss, instead of level, level leading to boss, boss) or if there were any sort of checkpoint system for dealing with the cheap deaths caused by the aformentioned shot-to-shit hit detection. Waitaminute... did the same team from shinobi make Demon's Souls? It would make perfect sense!
All else considered, one problem the game has is that it hasn't aged well. It was passable (never good) for early-years PS2, but now it is a meal of broken glass with entirely too much salt.
I think the worst thing though was the wallrunning. They made it sound so exciting, "Oh, dude, better learn how to do this, some places dont have floors!". WHat they presented was "push a button, and he'll stay there. you can leave the game, he wont fall off. run horizontally to the next jump now please."
And yes, i already said nice things about the scarf. What do you want from me?
