Bioshock is to System shock 2 is what Star wars eps is to the first trilogy IE Shiny, shallow and dull.N.1 Ninja Of 2010 said:They already made one.DaxStrife said:I usually don't hold out hope for remakes of games I love, but if they made one for BG2 I'd be all over it.And System Shock 2.
It's called Bioshock. [http://store.steampowered.com/app/7670/]
No, you don't need to get the first. Other than a few characters there isn't a whole lot of continuity. It's not as big a deal as importing, say, a Shepard for Mass Effect 2.sir.rutthed said:Stupid question: do you need to play the first to get the sequal? I'm ashamed to say I haven't played either, but I want to play both.
OT: Damnit GOG, you really want me to have no money or free time don't you? Why else would you keep releasing all these amazing games?
i have always been up in the air about whether i loved baldurs gate 1 or baldurs gate 2 more. there is no question, however, that the pc baldurs gate games are, without competition, my favorite rpgs. i have shadows of amn but my throne of bhaal disk doesnt seem to work, for some reason. this is worth the $10 price just so i can play the expansion and finally finish this epic storyAndy Chalk said:I'm just going to come right out and say it: Baldur's Gate 2 is the most epic fantasy role-playing experience of all time. you should definitely play the first one before playing the second. the story will have a lot more impact. also, if you play the second one and then play the first one, somewhere down the line, a lot of the big surprises from the first game will be completely ruinedsir.rutthed said:Stupid question: do you need to play the first to get the sequal? Higher resolutions, mostly (800x600 just doesn't cut the mustard anymore). I don't care about the voice acting as long as they keep the original lines and actors. And a graphics system closer to the Neverwinter Nights games would be nice as well.teh_gunslinger said:Can I ask why you want a remake? The game is gorgeous as it is, and the widescreen mod solves that issue. I doubt you could get a good remake with todays tech, at least judging on my Dragon Age experiences. The worlds always feel empty and clumsy compared to the detailed paintings of the original BG games.DaxStrife said:LOVED Baldur's Gate 2... Also, the amount of text would cost a fortune to voice act.
Bioshock has nothing on System Shock; similar game structure sure, but entirely different settings, themes, gameplay and characters.N.1 Ninja Of 2010 said:They already made one.DaxStrife said:I usually don't hold out hope for remakes of games I love, but if they made one for BG2 I'd be all over it.And System Shock 2.

While I admit it's been a while since I fiddled around with BG mods, I think there should be a way to get the BG2 mod to work with BG1.ZippyDSMlee said:BTW anyone know of a mana mod for BG1? Found one for BG2.
While not quite a remake, you should check this out: http://www.gamersnexus.net/bgr-homeDaxStrife said:LOVED Baldur's Gate 2... I usually don't hold out hope for remakes of games I love, but if they made one for BG2 I'd be all over it. And System Shock 2.
