This is quite the sign of an addict. This is a good time to seek help with that 1000 dollars.

Also, if your WoW account means that much to you, then maybe you shouldn't do something to put said account at risk. You know, like cheating.
I've always understood that WoW was a serious deal to a lot of people, even though I've never gotten why.

But this especially baffles me. If it's worth that much to him, why did he do something banworthy in the first place?
Because some people are more entitled to play WoW than others, apparently.
Certainly seems valid.

I'm also guessing some people are just dicks, given the way I've seen people harass others on XBL and then whine about the fact that they're part of the 1% of the racists/sexists/homophobes who actually get a ban for their actions like they're the victim.

Exactly what I thought as soon as I got to the bot part, but for some reason, just the way this was said made it seem better than anything I could say.

If you're going to have a shady exchange than you have to go all out, and get trench coasts and disguises and whatnot.
The more conspicuous the better.
took the words right out of my mouth. im almost surprised (s)he didnt mention trench coats in the ad. probably was saving it for the "call me and lets talk" part. but yeah this person really needs to find something better to do if they are willing to pay ANOTHER 1000$ to get back a game draining at least 140(ish)$ from them annually. not to mention it is a massive MASSIVE time sink
(and i do play the game, im just sayin'. and im pretty much done with it really, just leveling some chars with a couple friends for fun to see the new zones then going to SWTOR. but i did have some good times on there, got some fond memories, but everything comes to an end. and damnit i got sidetracked again)

If it was unjust, appeal it, they have very easy ways of double checking.

Frankly he wouldn't jump to this so soon if it wasn't a legitimate ban, so...sucks.

And yes Archeology is the dead sea of boring.
The pinnacle of " THERE IS NOTHING LEFT FOR ME TO DO "

It's astounding really, I thought fishing achievements would be the ultimate of how deep that could go. I was wrong.
Appeal what? He openly admitted he botted archeology, it's kind of hard to argue that they made a mistake when you just pleaded guilty lol.

Watch this work, how funny would it be if he got his account back.

With that kind of money he could buy several accounts just as good as the one he lost.

Your fail has forced the walls to form a facepalm.
I guess some people really are this stupid.
Also, I love the official escapist bad idea stamp.

I join everyone else in mocking this poor dumb bastard, but I do have one little point to make:

Automating a boring and repetitive task isn't cheating. I'm sorry, but it just isn't. Is it breaking the rules? Oh yeah, but that's not the same as cheating. Archaeology is not competitive, you can't "win" it. Using a bot program doesn't (as far as I know) give you an advantage over someone who does the same thing manually, it just frees up your time for watching porn, or whatever else you do.

The biggest fail here is that this dude is so nuts over WoW that he is willing to pay a monthly fee for a game he doesn't actually want to play, and then is willing to pay another grand to keep doing that. The second biggest fail is Blizzard's, for making something in their game so painfully dull and boring that apparently a bunch of people feel the need to automate the process of doing it.

If a crapload of people bot archaeology, maybe Blizzard's first thought shouldn't be "Ban them!" Maybe their first thought should be "Fix archaeology so that it isn't boring as shit."

Just boils down to stupid people not taking responsibility for their own actions, unfortunately. It's always everyone else's fault.

I wouldn't be surprised if this carries over to his real life as well. I wonder how happy the IRS is going to be when he tells them "Paying taxes is boring, so I didn't."

It is cheating. Let me explain why.

Cheating has several different definitions, one of them being:
to violate rules or regulations "he cheats at cards" [http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cheating] Botting is against the rules. He performed an action that violated those rules, therefore he cheated.

This is just a connotation difference of course, but personally, I don't think cheating has to involve a competition between players, as much as it involves taking a situation where "X Effort = X Result" and going around it so that it is "Y Effort = X Result".

Ten hundred just to get his WoW back...man, the world has come to some crazy stuff. Damn, people are ridiculous at times. Remove their distractions, and look how much they offer for it to return.

Banning for arch or fish botting is a little overboard. Back in the day I use to bot Ultima Online/Star Wars Galaxies for crafting professions because they were boring. 95-98% of the time I wasn't AFK when I used the bots.

A more appropriate would be a 3-10 day suspension, most reasonable people who do care about their account will stop.

It is not like they are really gaining much with these type of bots compared to other harmful bots.

I'm not familiar with WoW, but couldn't you just buy another account with the same stuff for much less than $1000? I mean, there's the personal investment I guess, but it just seems so stupid.

Or take the easy way out and START A NEW ACCOUNT, STUPID.
Really, this..
If you have a grand, you have more than enough money to start over..
Regardless of the amount of time put into the account, $1000 is a bit much.

Shit like this is what pisses me off. I can't find a job anywhere around here and this little upstart is willing to blow 1 grand on some stupid MMO account.

God damn it, what an idiot.

WoW-nerds are getting to be like Nintedo-heads to me...really sad and more than a little creepy in their obsessiveness.

I'm sure I could find another MMO to fill the void with a thousand bucks. Or hell, maybe a console. Or better yet ALL OF THEM! Meh.
