Wow. Are they even trying?
At this point I honestly don't think the Barbie brand can do anything to bring its image to the 21st century. Everything Barbie stands for is intrinsically tied to societal gender stereotypes that will never change if this trailer is anything to go by.
Why does everything still have to be so pink? Why does Barbie's identical girl-friends have to be so attractive/perfect (and Barbie for that matter) Why does everything have to be related to Princesses in some way? Why, oh why, can't Barbie be a normal girl? What little girl can relate to this nonsense? How does Barbie help you to play out your fantasies of being a do-gooding superhero when she's so unrealistic to begin with?
What about that construction worker? I want to know more about him!
