In my visit to the republic of korea, I was taken to a base ball game and was amazed how boring it was...The first 5 minuets was like the last 5 and the game had to have soooo much filler and in general game side nothing seeed to happen. It made me wonder if people went for the game or the extra bits.
...now just to say i am a brit, we dont have baseball...we probably do somewhere but it is not all that big as footy and rugby games a enjoy watching more.

I actually quite like Baseball every so often and I'm English (Bless you Virgin for giving us the American sports channel!)

I will admit the only reason I got into it was because I was in Boston back in 2004 during the playoffs against the Yankees, the atmosphere was incredible and I ended up watching all the games with some guys from Boston. It meant so much to them, to the city, it was difficult to not get carried along. Kind of like how England gets just before a world cup, except instead of losing they went on to win.

I will admit it can be quite a long and tedious game if nothing is really at stake.

I don't like baseball either. So boring. Basketball and football (the NA kind) are a little more exciting since stuff is actually happening, but I find them almost equally tough to watch at times (basketball is worse than football imo). But then, I am canadian... hockey is a great spectator sport :D

You have cricket if I'm not mistaken.

I'm american, and let me tell you, baseball is an old man's sport. The emphasis here is on football now. Baseball was exciting becuase you got to watch people hit a ball, try to get homeruns. but nowadays, with all the advances in the tech of the game, with steriods, and training, its just not as exciting. Baseball is only big if you're in a city where you odnt have a football team or a hockey team.

I'm from pittsburgh, so we have all three (steelers, penguins, and pirates) and baseball is pretty much going stagnant in our city. We definately hype the steelers and penguins more.

I prefer football (as in soccer) due to it's lack of commercials. American football and baseball take the slightest pause to cram stuff down your throat. As for the actual playing part, Baseball is alright, but watching it can get tedious.

I love baseball, but its not for everyone. I have found that if you never played baseball on a team, you most likely don't understand it or care. It is a unique game because it is the only sport where the defense starts with the ball.

I also believe baseball is one of the more mental taxing sports because as my old coaches would tell me: "Baseball is a game of failure."
A person who gets a hit 3/10 is considered good.

It is also interesting to me because there is nothing quite like when a pitcher pitches a perfect game. Not allowing a single person reach first base just seems impossible sometimes.

All my friends and my family hate watching it and say it's boring, I think it can be really exciting though, especially when you watch a team you like.

Baseball is indeed boring as hell and I wish we would get a new national past time, like obesity.

I don't get it either. Sure I don't like watching anything that I could just go out and do myself, but baseball holds a special place in the 'avoid' section of my mind.

I think your problem is having the pirates being the baseball team in your city, not because you have football.

I've never watched it. On a side note, is there actually any realistic difference between rounders and baseball?

I do not get baseball either. Actually most sports I do not get at all. The only ones I like is fencing, archery and anything that it has to do with sword and/or lethal weapons.

Not really. Any city with a young population who had a chance to see other sports gravitates to that other sport. Its why you hear more about college foot ball and basketball. I mean, you odnt see college baseball being advertised on weekday primetimes. I'l agree, the pirates suck, but even if they didnt, people wouldnt care nearly as much as they do about the steelers or the Penguins games. But its a trend you see in most cities.

Football is the best (America's football) but I guess baseballs good too. At least it's better than soccer!

The only thing good about baseball was that it inspired the character design for everyone's favorite JRPG.

In all seriousness, my family and I went to see a baseball game once. It was, quite frankly, the most boring thing I'd ever seen. I stood up once when the team we weren't rooting for scored, just because everyone else was. Not on purpose, but because I wasn't even paying any attention whatsoever.

It was more boring than Final Fantasy 7!

People seem to care more about football games than baseball games I think because the baseball season is really long and each individual game doesn't have the same value as they do to football teams because they only have 16 games. With the season being shorter, each game counts for more, so people get more into the games, there is more, I guess, pressure to win every game in football. Whereas in baseball, it is more laid back, you hear people say "they are just in a slump, they will get out of it soon."

i don't see any unique element to baseball that makes it as popular as it does, but i understand how people feel like they are participating in something greater then themselves when they try to make themselves part of the overall spirit of the game by publicly cheering, talking to strangers about current game scores etc. but hardcore sports fans who are hardcore in observing and not actually playing the sport are the worst, they are basically religious nuts with different definitions

Baseball to play is quite fun.

Baseball to watch is just an inferior form of cricket.
