What was the last multiplayer focused FPS that you've played, aside from BF3?
TF2, and before that, BF2. I haven't been keeping up with all the Call of Warfares and Gears of Duty, alas.

There's nothing wrong with the X showing me a hit. I was just unsure how I was supposed to deduce that intuitively. As though the appearance of a red X was universal shorthand for "a man has been shot".

It's good, but the 'lying prone in a bush' tactic drives me nuts.

It also looks rather average on my 360. Crysis 2 was better looking in my eyes, Frostbite appears to shine more on PC.
I'm playing on ps3 and got to agree I wasn't it to look eye melting good on console but looks at best above average, my other problem is it seems like they were trying to make it more call of duty like you die quickly which is ok but it doesn't mesh well with all the weapons being very accurate and the shotguns having decent range and the people hiding in bushes is super annoying.
Dice already said that graphics are compressed for the Beta, so don't get so upset over how it doesn't look nice.

Also if you notice your HP has a percentage now, and it regens REALLY slow unless you have a medkit nearby.

Eh, I've tried to get into it. But I need to massively update my drivers and I'm really too lazy and at times too computer stupid to think I might actually crash my computer if I uninstall and reinstall the new ones.

i saw it on the dashboard for xbox. decided to download it and give it a try. 'this purchase is -1microsoft points' so i continue.
then it tells me i dont have enough. i need... and im not lying here...
4,489,463,712 microsoft points.

no, how the hell..? did i have to preorder it or something?
It was a bug. The -1 ms points cost caused an internal variable of type "unsigned int" (no negatives, range 0 to ~4.5 trillion) to wrap around, misrepresenting the price. This is probably done to prevent negative-points purchases.

Initial thoughts.
PC Version

Looks and sounds awesome
Running a I7 2.8gig, ati HD 5970 2gig and 6gig ram, pretty constant 50fps @ 1680*1050 in the beta.
Game feels good to play although there are some glitches that need to be worked out aside from the clipping into the ground one nothing that really breaks games flow.

overall

Awesome game looking forward to release !

PC. I just played for 2 1/2 hours. Looks good, a few glitches, I clipped into the ground twice. Of course I suck at FPSs and was playing with some pretty competent players. I don't mind the merging of assault and medic, (I used to be exclusively a medic, this time I mostly played assault) and I love the suppression effect (Support may become my other favorite role and it works a treat here, especially combined with a recon in those long tunnels). I didn't really play recon (not my bag) or engineer (on vehicle maps I do like to repair stuff). RPGs didn't seem to be flying around readily, but there where a lot of guys playing as engineers.

I think I flushed out most of the campy spots and even got a stealth kill on a recon in some bushes. Woo hoo me!

I've already pre-ordered and the Beta is reassuring, I don't think i have wasted my money.

There are clipping and visual bugs, but hey, it's a beta and I'm sure they will be fixed.

First big problem is I've yet to be able to change my settings. Because the game is launched via an internet browser, I don't even see how to change the settings. And that brings me to my next question...why was this internet browser necessary? Why do I need to launch everything in the game from a web browser, INCLUDING THE SINGLEPLAYER? It's pretty dumb.

I also haven't been able to see or change my keymappings, so I've yet to be able to figure out how to crouch. I'm confident most of this stuff will be fixed with the beta and that I'll get used to the weird menu though. The game seems very good.

I just tried the Xbox 360 beta and I am really impressed by how "Meh" it is. I went int othe beta after listening to all the hype and all the dissapointment some people have and expected it to either fail horribly or really surprise me with how good it is.

However I find it so damn average. It has all these things I like but there are so many things I dislike too that it becomes the most Meh and forgetable experiance I know of.

Not to say it's bad. I actully found myself enjoying it quite a bit and this isn't even Battlefield in the beta. From what I have played it seems like someone took battlefield and tried to turn it into Cod. I must say I am dissapointed by this since I like the different modern war playstyles that these two series followed.
However this is a bad map, I know. It's kinda crappy anyway and there are not even any vehicles which are one of the most unique features of Battlefield that seperated it from Cod so im willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Some nice features such as the flashlight blinding people, the knife animation and I love all the general movement animations such as crawling while prone and vaulting over fences or walls.
It also looks really pretty. I know it's not as good as PC but it still likes nice enough.

Has some bad features too. I really don't like the classes they have, such as the new assault which medic merged with. I also hate how they seem to of gone down the Modern shooter road of making you die in a few bullets. This really isn't the kind of gameplay I want when I try playing a game like battlefield, although admittedly I am not a huge fan of the series, I only played Bad company 1 and 2, Battlefield 2 modern combat and 1943.

Overall, ignoring the horrible glitches and difficulty with finding a game since EA want's to claim the prize for worse beta ever, this seems like a decent enough game but I just can't find anything fun or unique enough to make me actully want to buy it.

I knew it would blow hard, and I once right yet again.

I get it, Beta is all testing and shit, but if you're going to put an open Beta you should be prepared for a shitload of people playing. The amount of lag is fucking horrendous. I never had that issue with Call Of Duty. I want to like it, I really do, but fix the fucking lag in your fucking games EA.
Bad Company 1 Demo lagged
Bad Company 2 Beta lagged
Bad Company 2 Online Demo lagged
Battlefield 3 Beta lagged.

No other game on my PC or Ps3 has lagged as bad as these games have.
First of all...don't out yourself as a CoD troll to start.

For two, they are beta tests...do you even know what a beta is supposed to be? Or is it supposed to be a magical perfect finished product?

Also, you ***** about lag but say you're a CoD fan. Were the only person who didn't magically have to use IWNet?

I had fun with it, but now I'm really debating inside whether I keep my pre-order or not.

The Operation Metro map sets up for a lot of campers and many take advantage of it. Also, since I'm playing on the Xbox 360 - that means I'm not with the PC gamers who know how to play Battlefield and instead play with the COD crowd who are playing this game like COD instead of sticking to your squad and supporting everyone with your specific class.

When I played with some friends later, it was better. I don't know...

Hit ESC while alive - then go into options, can't do it while dead afaik. The whole system is totally fucked imo.

I've been playing it and had to deal with the audio cutting out and occasionally cutting to white noise for the remainder of the match (Which can be up to half an hour). White flashes on my screen occasionally etc. Apart from that I quite like it. There are some bottlenecks which are irritating because the defending team can just prone there and erradicate your team, but hell. It's not as bad as it could have gone. Of course EA support is awful once again.

Thank god Counter-Strike GO is coming out soon. I really don't understand why EA decided to shoot themselves with Origin.

Why do I have to agree to four different EULAs and install a browser plugin just to play the demo?

Demo itself is neat though. But somehow I always end up on the team that isn't stacked with ridiculously skilled players. If I'm the person with the highest K/D ratio on my team, something is seriously wrong with the team balance :)

That seems to happen in every team-based FPS I play though, definitely not unique to BF3.

Graphics and sound are freaking awesome, and it runs a lot smoother on my computer than I expected. I only need to lower the screen resolution if I max out all the settings.

I tried it for an hour on the Xbox today.

It took me some time to get accustomed to the ironsight reaaaaaally real-looking feel (a little too much).

The only bugs/glitches that I encountered were during the killcam. Otherwise it's really fine for a Beta.

Oh and this little constant light-like flash when someone is sniping, well it's great. :D

Don't be surprised if single player looks better on 360 than multiplayer. MP is just too massive for an old machine as 360.
Crysis 2 does look better than Battlefield 3. You should see how it looks on PC when you install the Dx11 patch and texture patch. It is graphically superior to Battlefield 3. But Crysis 2 is a lot smaller after all.

I also liked the suppression effect.. especially because it's not that annoying. If you're being suppressed, you either move back and hunker down for a time (realistic) and then you're fine, or you're about to die anyways (also realistic) so it never really feels unfair.
There is a suppression effect? What does this effect do and how is it triggered?

Seems kinda useless though since you die instantly in a few bullets. I suppose it makes sense but it would work a lot better in a game where it takes more than 3 bullets to kill you, I suppose if they miss then it does make you want to get down.

People need to learn how to turn off their tac lights!

Seriously, It blinds your teammates and makes you a target from miles away.

Other than that, and the glitches, it's been pretty fun

The blinding lights are my only complaint. I like the games aesthetic, the use of the color blue and the glitchy electronic music. The gameplay seems solid though I would of liked to have seen more use of the destruction mechanic the game boasts, not a huge deal.

I won't be buying it just because I'm that bad at shooters and due to the other massive amount of games coming out.

Finally got into a game and I thought it was pretty damn bad. This is coming from someone who played the shit out of Bad Company 2.
