I was looking at the forums over at the battlelog on the battlefield 3 site and there is a lot of bitching about the bugs and prone. what i have to say to all those people is that if you dont like the beta then dont buy the game. i like the beta bugs and all and the multiplayer without your bitching and moaning and without the trademark COD thirteen year old will be so much better.

what do you guys think? share my sentiment?

edit: to the one or two assholes who yelled at me about it, i should rephrase myself. i like the beta in SPITE of the bugs. also, i know you can mute players. i do it in cod all the time. i would prefer that people act civil online and not like a bunch of giant douches

edit: i also have been playing the xbox version, so i havent really had too much trouble with the menus

The thirteen year olds WILL come, just give it time. Although the volume of said thirteen year olds will vary depending on the platform, which is why I'm glad I play on PC. More relevant to the beta however, I really like it. I haven't encountered a bug yet, and who's complaining about prone? "Oh no! People can do something in a game -that is used as a real tactic in real life- that makes it harder to see and shoot them -which is precisely why it exists in the first place-! This is terrible!" Doesn't that sound a little silly in the long run?

The trouble here is that you expected people on the internet to be reasonable regarding first impressions about a game.

I'm enjoying it as well so far; looks really sharp on my rig.

Oh, and flashlights. Everyone's always complaining about how overpowered FLASHLIGHTS are. I consider it to be an interesting tactic, as it both distorts and brings attention to your location.

You can't ***** about the bugs. You simply aren't allowed. It's BETA. IT'S GOING TO BE BUGGY.

Prone is a valid complaint, though.

Explain this, please. I feel like prone has been a part of shooters for years. It was in Battlefield 2 and I missed it when they took it out in bad company.

Exactly, it's a Beta. It's not the triple A shiny release.

Dice also said that the beta version was old. So by now the latest version of the game should have all the known bugs taken out. And hopefully the flashlight gets removed too.... my god the flashlight...

Yeah guys! Stop bitching about a game he likes and keep bashing a game he doesn't!

Don't worry, we won't miss you on CoD, either.

Have you played Operation Metro? There is like a solid line of snipers and LMGers. The moment you pop your head out of cover, it gets taken clean off from 100+ meters away. How exactly are you supposed to take out someone hundreds of meters away lying prone in a bush so that they can't be seen?

You also go sniper/LMGer and spam. But then the attacking team loses. It doesn't help that phase 1 of Op Metro is a glitchy near-unplayable mess.

It's gotten to the point where I just kind of sit there until we move into the subway or the round ends. It happens in the subway too, but at least it's small enough that you can fight back without stooping to their level.

I don't see the big shit with prone. It was in earlier Battlefields, not BFBC2, and it was fine. It's also in every Call of Duty and it's fine. For that matter, I can't name any military shooter other than BC2 that doesn't have prone. I'm sure one exists but whatever.

Anyway, BF3 beta. Yeah, I have already outlined my thoughts and while I'm still thinking similarly, it's not near as harsh. I finally got a few kills last time I played.

Also, I just got BC2. I really like it. I had played it before on a PS3 and really liked it then. This is why the BF3 beta is disappointing to me; it just doesn't interest me.

Also, something about the two games feels different. I played a demo of BF2 on PC a while back and BF3 feels a lot closer to that than BC2, if my memory is serving me correctly. Can't explain it, but it does feel distinct.
That's because Bad Company is a spin off of Battlefield. The main series goes:
1942, Vietnam, 2, 2142, 1943, 3
(not counting expansion packs)

OT: I love the Beta. Yes it is buggy, but by the time the game comes out it should be much better. Prone is awesome.

To counter that you just need to outflank the Proners (is that a word?)
Quite simple, and very effective.

That's what I used to do. (I have over 80 knife kills and 300+ M870 kills, most of them from proners)

It just got really tiresome. ESPECIALLY if there was one guy who was aware of his surroundings. Most of them are so absorbed in the scope that you can do whatever if you aren't in their line of sight, but the ones that know when you're closing in? 'Fuck me' doesn't begin to cut it.

Also, my teammates never, EVER destroy mobile spawnpoints. I have no idea why. IT'S EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO DESTROY THEM. (It's very rare to find someone besides myself who uses the Defib as well. Then again, that's why I always top the scoreboard with 7-25 and over twice the score of the 34-2 guy.)

Omg I know! At one of the M-COM stations inside the subway (the one with the long corridor) and there was a mobile spawnpoint beeping right next to the bloody M-COM! Enemies just kept planting it and swarming us! Eventually I shot it but by that stage we were fucked.

It works both ways however. I will never forget the time I was standing on one with my knife out(unaware of the spawn) when a guy just appeared in front of me. Stealth knife kill FTW!

Yeah...that's where the rest of my shotgun kills come from.

'This guy keeps somehow getting behind us every five seconds and kills almost everyone each time. Think that beeping box with the little yellow marker above it has anything to do with that?' 'No, you're crazy. Shut up and turn around again.' 'Derp. Okay.' -Shotguns both of them-

Have you ever put one on the island at the beginning of Metro? It's a great sniper spot and you can rack up SO MANY KILLS on it.

I did, but somehow guys with pistols could outsnipe me. Then again, I'm doing it on the PS3 where sniping is hard as balls.

Really? I'm doing it on PS3 and raping with snipers. You just have to be skilled :p

I would play it on PC but I don't even reach the minimum drivers (sigh)

Kills are meaningless in BF3, the objective is to win. If you aren't actively defending the M-COM, attacking the M-COM, defusing an explosive charge, or defending an explosive charge you aren't helping in any way.

There are a lot of lone wolves on the servers I'm playing on, bloody frustrating to be in a squad who don't know how to support each other. It is super refreshing when you can team up with someone who knows what they are doing though even if it is just one member of your team.

I'm looking forward to the full launch when there will be more team players and properly organised squads. It is a shame I don't have any friends with powerful PCs who are into FPSs, but I suspect I'll actually start to use the battlelog to team up with people.

Yeah, I'm always after the revive. I seem to always be one of the few guys playing Assault who functions as a medic on the servers I'm on.

I like the flashlights, they are an interesting tactic, I wonder how many people know you can turn them off though? Everyone seems to keep them on all the time. Not the most effective use of them. I am sick of getting blinded by allies though, especially if they are squadmates.

The first stage of Metro is not as bad as everyone makes out if you actually team up, spot targets and co-ordinate your advances. I have been in attacking sides that failed on this stage because everyone was out for themselves and I have been on attacking sides where we stormed over that stage very quickly because we worked as a team.

Wow these fanboys just crawl out of the woodwork, "I love the game and all it's bugs, don't you dare mention them"... seriously?
You don't want bugs to be pointed out and fixed?
You somehow prefer broken games?

Other than teammates with the intelligence of a rock (what part of "press left on the fucking D-Pad" don't my squadmates understand?), I'm enjoying it.

The sound, as usual, is absolutely fantastic. The cracks of sniper rifles, buzz of LMG's, whizzes of flying rounds, the thunk of bullets hitting solid objects and the "BOOM" of explosions going off through my Tritton's just immerses me in the games world and keeps me on edge.

The quick deaths I love. It breaks immersion when someone can take half a fucking mag and continue on like nothing happened.

The movement is fluid (most of the time, at least). I love being able to vault over obstacles. Nothing pisses me off more than being hung up on a piece of wall slightly higher than my characters jump height, ESPECIALLY during a firefight.

I love that prone has returned. I HAAAAAAAAAAATE knowing that my head is like one of those moving ducks in a carnival corkgun attraction.

I enjoy what they did to Recon, giving the class more ways to help out the team. I've been the MVP 1 of quite a few games by just spotting every enemy I see with the occasional arming kill. Oh, anyone manage to use the T-UGS? Whenever I put it down, I don't hear it go off or mark an enemy on the minimap when they're in range.

The little touches add to the game. The way the trees and bushes sway when a grenade goes off or an RPG flies past them to the low flying insects when you're crawling on the ground.

I honestly can't wait for launch.

The Island just so happens to have a fantastic view over one of the M-COM stations. Many a game have been won or lost due to a sniper blowing a attackers head off just before they plant it.
