Beta game is beta. I'm personally not going to purchase until I know the majority of the bugs and other things that are prevalent in this stage of the game are addressed.

I like the flashlights, they are an interesting tactic, I wonder how many people know you can turn them off though? Everyone seems to keep them on all the time. Not the most effective use of them. I am sick of getting blinded by allies though, especially if they are squadmates.

IT BUUUUUUUURNS!

PS: Battlefield 3 beta is buggy as hell, but if they fix them it will turn out a goodgame.

How do you turn flashlights on/off for that matter? On the PS3?

Quite a bit of the bugs are fixed in the PC version of the beta, consoles don't have it simply because it takes a good week of sitting there in Sony/Microsoft's possession to approve the patch. Of course most people just replace the lack of bugs with how DICE is lazy and needs to make an in-game browser despite the fact that battlelog does what it's supposed to and does it just fine.

Most probably on the D-pad

Funny Shit.

What could you not possibly like about this game besides Origin?!

Beta or not, Battlefield 3 I believe will blow Call of Duty MW3 out of the water.

But I don't see Battlefield 3's compainge being as good as Crysis 2 though.

Can't help you there. The "T" key on a PC turns the Flashlight/Laser on/off, and it turns off both your primary weapon and sidearm's lights at the same time.

I'm really looking forward to using more of my mouse buttons in the retail version. My thumb buttons are feeling neglected.

Core gameplay is very solid. Annoying things start to add up though. The bugs obviously are the big one and hope they can get them fixed but they hold the beta less than a month from street release... makes me doubt how much of it was 'beta' and how much was really 'demo'.

Yeah, yeah patches and all that but there were a LOT of bugs.

Honestly I've been in games won and lost. Shame no vehicles so the engi has little purpose in life for the map.

Biggest annoyance besides the obvious bugs would have to be the menu interface. Both after death and between rounds you're unable to access the main menu. Why? Especially after a death. That's your prime chance to change up your classes but no you have to waste time you could be actually playing the game to change your loadouts. Major annoyance.

Well speaking as a medic you do have to wait for the revive for a bit after death so I can get to you, but I would like to access the menu between rounds in particular. I'd also like to be able to quit the game between rounds in game rather than alt-tabbing to battlelog and clicking close game. That works just fine, but not having a quit option between rounds, feels awkward. Not being able to tweak settings/keybindings/graphics settings while you are dead/between rounds is annoying too.

Tried the demo. It's actually really good, so I can't imagine the full game.

Also, this was on PlayStation 3, so the PC version... gonna be insane!

This game alone makes me want to upgrade.

Loving it so far. Its buggy as hell to a point where it would not be acceptable less than a month out from release but Dice have already mentioned the Beta build is at least a month old already which makes sense seeing as it was being used to show off the game to the media quite some time ago. I can imagine most of the idea behind this open beta is to find anything they haven't already fixed for the RTM version and to get people excited about the game. The menu system, for example, will most likely have been fixed already as it is an obvious fix. Why bother fixing the obvious faults in a beta for public release when you could be working on the final build?

Battlefield 3? ... Eh... not my tea-cup. Tried the demo, and liked it but not my tea-cup.

Is it OK if I have that tea cup instead since you are not putting any tea in it?

I like it. It feels slower than Bad Company 2 but I think because you can go prone now everyone is taking a more paced tactical route to the objectives.

Obviously the beta has bugs and I personally have had it crash twice in two sessions just as I got my groove on. The spawn menu is a bit of a mess so they'll have to try and condense that and make it more streamlined. Also am I the only one who thinks (on 360) the metro outside has an odd greenish tint?

So to sum up, good game, great with chums, has some menu problems, bugs too. Wouln't say it was as good as the Gears 3 beta in terms of content however. I'm already quite familular with Rush on Metro so a second map with Conquest might have been a welcome addition.

Not sure whether I like it more than BFBC2 or not.

Saying "It's beta so don't complain" isn't really a valid argument in this day and age. Open Beta's have more to do with demos than actual betas. The game goes into print in about two weeks, and what you're seeing in this "Beta" is pretty much what you'll get, if you buy the game at launch.

It works both ways however. I will never forget the time I was standing on one with my knife out(unaware of the spawn) when a guy just appeared in front of me. Stealth knife kill FTW!
Yeah...that's where the rest of my shotgun kills come from.

'This guy keeps somehow getting behind us every five seconds and kills almost everyone each time. Think there might be a mobile spawnpoint behind us?' 'No, you're crazy. Shut up and turn around again.' 'Derp. Okay.' -Shotguns both of them-
Have you ever put one on the island at the beginning of Metro? It's a great sniper spot and you can rack up SO MANY KILLS on it.
I did, but somehow guys with pistols could outsnipe me. Then again, I'm doing it on the PS3 where sniping is hard as balls.
Really? I'm doing it on PS3 and raping with snipers. You just have to be skilled :p

I would play it on PC but I don't even reach the minimum drivers (sigh)
Stupid 8600....
Go to nvidia and search for Beta drivers, I thought it wouldn't support my 8800 cause I couldn't get to driver 2.85 or whatever, but nvidia created a new driver specifically for the BF3 Beta, because if you look at all the video cards, their updates all only go to 2.80, you have to search for beta drivers

...No, they're definitely betas. The entire point of it is to field test it and work out bugs, so naturally there are bugs to work out.
